 Duskai yawned in the shade of the trees. The mare chewed on some grass, trying to keep her mind off other, not so taste ful thoughts. She hoped she would meet Bella again; the mare had been very nice to her. It was odd... Duskai was looking forward to actually meeting other Soquili. It was not like her at all. Either she was dreaming, or it was all just a show, she wasn't sure, but for now, Duskai would allow herself to make friends. She would allow them to get as close to her as she dared to let them, always ready to run away if necessary. With another yawn, the mare picked her head up, and watched the day go by.

 Step after step, Bella made her way through the forest. Her pace was light, cheerful, as she kept her mind focused on the present rather than the memories that threatened to surface by each sound echoing from her bracelet. Surely she must be becoming a masochist for not taking it off and relieving herself of each chain to the past. But whenever she would try, something would catch hold of her, divert her in some means to prevent her from removing the delicate piece of jewelry. How horrible Fate was...
Shaking her head, the mare picked up her pace, nearing the edge of the woods. When at last she broke through, it took a moment for her eyes to adjust, finally focusing on the purple and white mare she'd met prior. Duskai, if her memory served correctly. A rather silent mare, but not at all unpleasant to be around. Her ears twitched towards the other as she started towards her, a warm smile of greeting spreading across her face.
"Duskai!" she called, still a bit of a distance away. Again her pace picked up, an easy trot bringing her into a friendly distance within a short amount of time. Slowing to a near halt once shouting was no longer needed, she still kept a generous distance between them. No need to scare the mare, after all. "It is you. Heh, I was wondering if we'd meet again."

Duskai's ears twitched at the sound of the mare's voice. For once, she didn't panic and merely turned to look at Bella. She was very thankful that it wasn't some random mare she didn't know running up to her. Duskai smiled up at Bella.
"Hi Bella... How are you... today?" she asked, a little quicker that usual with her words. It might have been since Bella was friendly and Duskai liked being around her, but she seemed to talk better when in the presence of company like her. It was very strange to the mare, but she didn't dwell on it. Now was not the time for that.

She grinned towards the other, shocked yet happy at how quickly Duskai was able to pick up the conversation. Already she was more open, more social. It was nice to see the mare's new home seemed to be having a good affect on her as well.
"I'm good, thank you. You seem like you're doing well." Her smile widened, thrilled to be in good company again. With all the strange beings she'd met already, it was nice to not only find a familiar face, but a kind one at that.

Duskai nodded. "I am.... getting better with... my speech," she said with a small smile. She stood up, taking care to not tread on her white locks and walked closer to the flesh colored mare.
She surprised herself with her openess, but found she didn't dislike it. At all. She merely was happy to know that there were Soquili who wouldn't yell at her for speaking. Her curiousity got the better of her, and she pointed her muzzle at the charm bracelet on Bella's hoof.
"That is... very pretty, Bella. You must... have a kind friend... somewhere... who made that," she said without thinking her words through before hand.

Bella's pose relaxed further, happy to see the other was so comfortable with the situation. If she wasn't, she wouldn't be walking up to her, now would she? No, Duskai didn't see at all the type to fake such emotions for the sake of conversation.
A wondrous thing, that trait.
"So I can hear," she grinned back, tilting her head to the side slightly as she continued, "How have been though? I hope you haven't restricted yourself to only speaking with me." Her tone was light, her question one just as warm and friendly as one would expect from a concerned friend.
The sudden change in conversation though made her blink, face twisting in confusion before following Duskai's gaze. When she realized the other mare was speaking of the bracelet, her body tensed. A hesitant laugh ghosted through her lips, smile cracking slightly as uncomfortable memories stirred. "Yes... yes, the two who gave it to me were kind, but... well, I left them behind in my old home for a reason you see... I just haven't been able to bring myself to take it off." Although the confession was painful, she found herself unwilling to lie to the soft-spoken mare before her. It wasn't the full story, but enough, given the situation.

Duskai shook her head with a small smile. "No... I haven't been. There are... others I speak to, as well," she replied. The dark mare noticed the tensing in Bella's body, and found it reminded her of herself.
The mare back pedaled a bit. "I'm sorry... I spoke without... thinking. It is painful... to speak of it... isn't it? I apologize..." said Duskai, her eyes full of apology. The grey orbs asked for nothing but forgiveness for bringing the topic up. Not one to pry, she decided to switch topics.
"Do you know any... others like us?"

Heat pooled in her cheeks, making her look down. She didn't mean to upset Duskai so much, and it wasn't like the other had meant any harm. "No, really, it's okay. You didn't know." Straightening, she nodded slightly. "I'm starting to get better about thinking of the past but... someday the pain will fade." Despite the ring of painful truth, Bella still found herself smiling, optimistic and hopeful for her future.
Returning to the previous topic though, she was relieved and delighted to hear of the other's socializing. "That's great that you're finding people to open up to. It seems we both made good decisions coming here."
Again her head was tilted, frowning slightly at the question. "Like us? How so like us?" Mares? Running from their pasts? Both..? It was difficult to pick just one shared trait to consider.

"Like us horses... I mean," she said with a small tilt of her head. Duskai had met many others, mostly mare, and only two stallions, one of which being a foal. Besides that, Duskai hadn't met anyone else like herself.
Nor had she met anyone of a different species yet, either. Not that she really wanted to meet the Kalona and Skinwalkers, but maybe just once wouldn't be harmful? Maybe...
The mare shook her head, rearanging her thoughts. She's zoned out again... part of her expected a nice whacking to the head for it. The other part reminded her that that was over and done with, and there was no need to continue to dwell on it. She'd much like to go with the later, if she could.
