-Study of the Human Body-
Required for: School of S&T, School of Magic Class Description An anatomy course that features comprehensive guides to the human organs, systems, and body structure for the students. In addition, more abstract, ethereal elements of anatomy, such as chi, the flow of mana, and acupuncture, will also be discussed. Classroom Description Starting from the entrance and winding its way right along the room is a time line on developments and theories across the ages, sometimes accompanied by a model. Computers are arranged in rows facing the front of the classroom.

Canaan was in an interesting mood. Today would be his first venture into the classrooms, and his main goal was to either stare at the screen until he understood what was going on, or, if the room was occupied, print whatever he could, download whatever he could, and read it in the privacy of his dorm.
The room, however, wasn't empty. There was a boy in a wheelchair, a book in his lap. Butterflies. Canaan, as silent as always, entered the room, stopping a foot behind Micajah to grunt, clearing his throat slightly. His voice was low, guttural as he leaned over the blonde slightly, finger gently touching the page.
"'tun tawu. He dances in the flames." A small, yellowish moth or butterfly was beneath his fingertip. Straightening, he frowned slightly, looking around the otherwise empty room before sitting at the computer station closest to Micajah. Cane was still learning to use the damn things.

A gasp was caught in Micajah's throat as as a grunt startled him from his study of the book in his lap, one that clearly did not go with the classroom he was in, and he was about to slam it shut when Cane's arm came over his shoulder and his finger touched one of the smaller pictures. As he spoke it's name in a manner that Micajah didn't understand, he merely nodded his head and waited for the hand to be withdrawn before he actually closed it up and turned to look at the newcomer in the room.
"Well now, I wasn't expecting to see you again so soon. Here for lessons?"
His voice seemed to be wavering slightly as he tried to gather his nerves and speak properly, his heart pounding from a little more then just being startled, but he managed to get it under control rather quickly and even produced a smile.
"I didn't think anyone would be coming into this classroom today so I thought it'd be a nice place to read."
He was dressed a bit better today than he had been in the hospital, actually wearing clothes that allowed him to look less like a damaged human and more like a kid just sitting around with a cast. His pants had been cut off to allow for the cast on his leg, or else he'd bunched them up somehow, and he wore a red sweater that hung off his shoulders over a white a-frame t-shirt. Bandages that lined his chest and back were more visible now thanks to the low cut, but they seemed to be fewer in number. Micajah's blond hair, having been left down in the hospital, was now pulled up in two braids that were tied together at their ends to merge into a single braid.
"...how have you been?"

A grin suddenly appeared on Cane's face, startling, beautiful, and... It was gone, just as quickly as Micajah's surprise had been hidden. "I told you." That he would see him again. The black-haired boy nodded slowly in response to his question about lessons, his face darkening as he looked back to the screen. Stupid computer terminal, with its tiny print.
"I am... learning." A quick glance from his bright eyes, and they went back to the screen. He certainly was talkative today!

"Ah...I see. Let me know then if there's anything I can help you with - I've got notes from this class...oh. Wait."
He didn't. He didn't have any books at all, let alone any notes. His backpack was destroyed in the fire and with it all of his paperwork for the classes he'd taken. Naturally that meant he had nothing for this class and would probably need to start all over again in here with notes and illustrations. The thought made his stomach drop, and for a moment a comical look of him imagining something rather ill-wanted crossed his face. It sat there for a moment before he reached down and tried to move his chair to another terminal, ready to work that way.
"I was going to say I could lend you my notes, but I just remembered they all burned up in that fire I had about a week ago - so it looks like I'm back to square one with you. Anything you're going to want to study first? It may work easier if we go together."
If Cane was being talkative today, then Micajah was being overly helpful.

Cane grunted in response, thinking. He didn't want to have to look like a fool, trying to decipher complex words in front of another student. Still, he needed the help, and he needed to do his assignments. He wanted to learn.
"First class." He shrugged. Hoping that Micajah would understand that he had no idea where to start, or what he should be doing. Hell, it was his first class EVER, if the boy remembered from their prior conversation. Cane had never been to school in his life. He gestured to his terminal before Micajah got settled. "We can share."

"Sorry to be so much trouble."
Micajah's cheeks blushed for a moment as he simply leaned over to look at the screen Cane was staring at, and after a few seconds he blinked and looked over at his companion. He didn't want to say it out loud, perhaps the boy was waiting on him for something, but it didn't make sense.
"Are you going to pick a lesson? You've got the menu up on what there is to learn, and since I have to redo them all I don't have one in particular I'm wanting to do first."
He had the book he had been reading still in his lap, propped out like it was going to be his press board for when he would write something with his still-good right hand, and his fingers idly drummed the surface as he waited for a response.

"You choose." Cane's voice was gruff, a little irritated maybe, and he looked away from Micajah, brushing back his bangs with long fingers. The muscular teen seemed tense, as if he was waiting for something. To be made fun of, really, if the blonde figured out what his big issue was. He seemed to be trying to keep the peace, though, mumbling. "No trouble."
A long pause, as he watched Micajah fiddle with the terminal. "How are you?" The sentence was quiet, as his bright eyes locked on the other boy's face.

"Okay, then let's start with the one about bones. I think it would be easy enough to review considering how many of them in my body have broken."
Micajah leaned over, slightly against Cane since he had to reach the mouse, and moved it down a few places until he clicked the proper section and a screen filled with a large diagram of the human skeleton popped up along with arrows and identifiers pointing to their respective places. It was as he was clicking he heard Cane's question and felt a gaze upon him, and as he turned to look his cheeks turned slightly red again.
Why was he so bothered?
"I'm doing fine, thanks. I didn't catch a cold from being outside the last time we were together, but I did manage to catch an earful from the head nurse."
He chuckled for a moment before he turned his attention to the task at hand, which was starting to draw a diagram of the bones of the human head since it was the first thing displayed. His writing was a little sloppy thanks to being able to use only his right hand, but it made do as he began to label what he needed.
"Do you need anything to write with?"

Cane didn't seem to mind the physical contact because, frankly, he really didn't mind it at all. He was much more comfortable with the physical, rather than verbal. Canaan had an excellent visual and verbal memory, often remembering things people had said, or what they'd worn, months after the fact. That always helped to compensate for his trouble with reading.
"No, thanks." He pulled a pen from his pocket, today lacking the leather jacket, and instead simply in a pair of faded blue jeans, a tight, white wife-beater, and sandals. His sketchpad was already on the desk, and he flipped past drawings of plants, mechanical parts and animals to a blank sheet. His long fingers were graceful as they began quickly rendering the skull. "Can we listen to it?" The lesson, he meant, rather than read it.

"I don't think so, but that's just fine too. I can't concentrate on what I'm doing if I have to listen to what's being said - and sometimes it moves faster than I can. I think at the pace I'm moving right now I'd only be left behind if I had to do audio."
He was already done labeling the face and had actually moved onto to shading the skull as he waited for Cane to finish up and scroll down, though he frowned when he noticed the other hadn't even put anything down on his paper other than the skull itself. Could someone really learn that it was based on a drawing alone? That wouldn't help when it came time to study, not at all.
"Do you need to increase the font size or something to read it better?"

Cane's fingers tightened around the pen as Micajah gave reasons as to why he didn't want the audio, and he scowled, glaring at the screen when asked about font size. His tone was defensive, and his words, for the first time, not polite. "No. What do you care?"
His right hand reached for headphones he noticed the side, and Canaan put them on his ears, despite no sound coming through them yet. Setting the pen down, he folded his arms across his chest and stared at the screen.

Micajah coiled back in his seat as Cane snapped at him over his question about the font size, and for a moment his face showed an expression of being hurt more than surprise. He hadn't meant to offend him - he really only wanted to help, but it seemed like his good intentions weren't what people said nice things were cracked up to be. If that was the case. ..
"Sorry I asked then. I just figured you might have not been able to read because of the font, since even I have trouble with it sometimes. Computers don't make for great text reading thanks to how they are, and since those labels are a little small I thought that might be why you don't have anything written down..."
He looked down at the pad and paper on his lap and back up at Cane, and he frowned deeper as he noticed the other had put on the headphones. He assumed that meant Cane didn't want to listen to him speak either - which was fine. He'd already done this class before, with someone friendlier he might add, and this was just review.
"Sorry for wasting your time then."

Cane seemed to soften a bit, or at least, the anger was gone, and he frowned a bit, glancing at Micajah out of the corners of his eyes. "... Sorry." His voice was gruff, and he slipped the headphones down. "Will you... help me?" The native gestured to the computer screen. "I..." He frowned. "Don't do much reading."
He didn't really want to talk about it, and was hoping his meaning would be understood. At least his temper was short-lived?

"Eh? Help you?"
It took Micajah a moment to register what Cane was saying to him about not reading much, and it took another second for him to find a good way to respond to what he asked without perhaps hurting the other teen's feelings. If what Micajah could gather was right - Cane was saying he couldn't read. Or at least not read well enough to do this.
Instead of laughing or making a face of someone who felt something akin to pride at being better than the other, Micajah merely smiled gently and leaned closer to Cane as he nodded his head 'yes'.
"Sure, not a problem. I know how hard it is to read medical terms, and since I've done it before we should be able to get through without much trouble."
He pointed at the first label and spoke the word out loud - 'cranium', moving his finger down a bit until it reached another - 'maxilla'. He hoped Cane could write better than he could supposedly read, though if needs be he would let him copy his notes. It's not like that would hurt anyone.
"There are really only 26 main bones of the body to remember - the rest are kind of add ons. If you memorize those main then everything else can be taken at a slower pace."
