non-European places. Like Korea, or Japan, or India. It seems that there's boundless amounts of clothing guides on European historical fashion, and so little on stuff from other places.

So, does anyone have any good websites/books? I would really love some information on nineteenth century clothing from India, pre-Columbian Americas, and eighteenth century clothing from Korea, but any time period from any area would be great.

Well, unfortunately, I'm not the keeper of the full bibliography on the Heian project I'm in, but here's a few websites. If they look cool, I'll see if I can find out some of the books to go deeper.

The Rebirth of the Tale of Genji.

Reconstructing History - Heian Era Japan. There's a bibliography linked here, and this is all really good stuff.

This one is only good for the pictures, I'm afraid (unless you know Hungarian), but those can be quite useful even still for purposes of reproduction.

Hope that helps! I'm afraid I haven't got anything on the rest, though.

Unforgettable in every way,
And forever more, thats how you'll stay

User ImageA Google search is still the best in my opinion, but here are some links:

Japanese Clothing for Male and Female

History of the Kimono

Hanbok History

Korean fashion was hard to find, but once you get the right terms, there's a treasure trove of information waiting. Happy reading.
That's why, darling, it's incredible

The main reason therittle information on eastern and ethnic clothing is because they are considered 'anti fashion'. Meaning they haven't really changed over the centuries.

That's why there's really so little information, because it hasn't made great leaps and bounds without the influence of the western hemisphere.
