I have an old apple butter kettle,at least 100years old.I also have a paddle to go with it.Problem is it's starting to break.How can I fix it?

that is very interesting!!! All my family's antiques are with my grandparents at the moment... If its that old...maybe its best you don't use it to preserve it???? however if you do wish to continue to use it...I wonder...what is it made of??? maybe you could coat it with some sort of finishing or polish or something????

I made apple butter for the first time this year and would like to know how it used to be made. I made mine in a crockpot but would love to hear how it used to be done.
