Asha traced a small path around the stream continuously. The water made splashing sounds, so it was easy for her to make sure it stayed on her right side at all times. Plus, the wet dirt on one side and the dry dirt on the other helped keep her in line, too.
She went around and around, from where the stream began at their den until it flowed into a small watering hole that her large family used as a swimming hole instead. The jagged round shape made it interesting for Asha to walk around.
A smile lit up on her face as she encountered different obstacles the first few times she walked. After a while, it became second nature. She walked around with her head tilted back to the sky, her unseeing eyes gazing at the clouds above.

 The heat of the day forced Uzuri to take leave of the den that she and Janja shared; the older female that had been taking care of her had been out with a male recently, leaving Uzuri time to explore.
Her love of water brought her to the stream; she had never noticed that it was here, but the sounds were far more exciting than the still pond she lived by.
Upon reaching the rushing water, Uzuri, unable to control her excitement, jumped in the cold water and began to splash around to her heart's content, not noticing anything else around her.

The splashing of water alerted Asha to something in the stream; she paused in her path and tilted her ears towards the sound.
"Hello?" she called out, hoping to be facing the direction of the noise. She hoped that it wasn't anyone dangerous, but the amount of splashing seemed to mean that it was something quiet small, actually.
Perhaps even her own size.

Uzuri paused for a moment; someone had said something. Whipping her head around, she spied something out of place- a black and white pup. She titled her head, unsure of whether to approach the other pup or let them come to her. But something seemed off; the other pup made no obvious movements towards Uzu, so she trudged herself through the water towards the pup.
"Who are you?" she kept her distance in the water, being careful not to put herself in any danger.

Her ears flicked again as more splashing came from...the left. And then a voice followed. Decidedly feminine, and perhaps her age. Not sure if it was a lion or another wild dog or what.
"Asha," she replied simply. After a moment she remembered to close her eyes. She turned her head to smile at the stranger, hoping to be facing the right direction. "Who are you?" Her replying question was not unkind.

Getting closer to the other pup, Uzuri relaxed her ears, knowing there was no threat. The pup seemed hesitant with her movements, but nothing more was out of the ordinary.
"I'm Uzuri." her face lit up, happy to find another female her age. "What'cha doing here?" she splashed in the water, trying to entice the other pup to play with her.

Her ears flicked towards the sound of water being splashed again, and she felt the small water droplets land on her front legs. She turned in the direction, knowing that whoever was there was definitely right there, at least for now.
"Walkin' around. What're you doing?"

Uzuri stepped out of the water onto the soft ground; she encircled the other pup, analyzing her further.
"I just wanted to get out of the sun." she crouched down in a playful manner. "It's too hot out on the savannah, so I came in here to play in the water."

Asha sniffed and listened as the other pup circled around her. She could probably guess as to where, exactly, she was, but the pup didn't feel like moving around much at the moment.
"It is really hot," she agreed instead. "Wanna play in the water with me, then?"

Uzu's eyes widened; she yearned to make a new friend, especially here in the river.
"Of course!" she jumped back in the water, gently splashing Asha with her paw. "C'mon, c'mon!" she waved her tail back and forth, awaiting her new playmate.

Asha listened closely for where the water was, and then when she heard the splashings, made her way calmly over to the new pup.
She giggled for a moment and then took a running leap, diving into the shallow water with ease. She surfaced and shook her head dry, grinning.

Uzuri paddled around, grinning wickedly. "I'm so glad I ran into you out here; now I have someone to play with!" she floated onto her back, staring up at the blue sky. "Isn't it pretty? It's the same color as me!" she smiled widely.

"Of course!" Asha giggled in reply, happily splashing around. She paused for a moment, trying to figure out what in the world the other pup was talking about. Something that was the same color as her fur...and the small brown girl had no clue what that was.
"I'm sure it is," she agreed with a soft smile. "I'll have to take your word for it, since I can't see it myself. But I bet the color looks better on your coat than it does anywhere else."

As soon as the other pup let the words slip from her mouth, something in Uzuri clicked; it all made sense now. The almost abnormal manneurisms, the slower responses. Uzuri smiled. "So you've never seen the sky before? It's a pretty blue." Her eyes returned to their joyous state, and she began to splash around in the water once more. "Do you know what you look like?"

Asha shook her head but kept smiling. "Nope. But I think I know what blue is." She giggled, and splashed around a bit too. "Nope! My sister and brother have fun trying to explain it to me, though. Apparently I have pink eyes, brown fur and a white chest and under-stripe. Is that right?" She turned and posed, giggling again for inspection.
