Modern day fashions, are some brougth back from the past?

I was wondering if you thought of any modern day fashions that might have been from the past? Not the 80's and stuff, but from like the victorian ages and stuff. So please post and let me know what you think.

I notice that a lot of fashion designers are using a Victorian influence, even some of the French styles from the french revolution (think Marie Antoinette). I definitely think that older fashions, especially Victorian can be incorporated into everyday, modern clothing - mostly because Victorian is very structured, but also has very feminine detailing which I think is appealing. I've also noticed that stores seem to be carrying a lot more in terms of corsets, or seem to have lines that channel "Victorian Influence."

There was a revival of some style of Victorian clothing back in the early 1990s. I loved it! I think it was also part of what influenced a lot of the gothic fashion back then as well.

I see a lot of Victorian inspired clothes in just everyday stores. There is also a Japanese fashion that I am a part of that gets its influence from Victorian fashion ^^

Oh, definitely. Everywhere I go these days, I see vests, blouses, and other such clothing that are very much historically inspired. :3 Not to mention, a lot of the subcultures in today's society (Steampunk, some Lolita, and even a bit of the gothic styles) are definitely historically inspired. The Victorian era especially has become much more popular recently, but I've also seen hats remniscent of 1920's cloche hats more often too.

Fashion has always been cyclical but I've noticed a resurgence of waist coats and lace up ankle boots as well.

I actually found those faux victorian boots at Kmart.

Unforgettable in every way,
And forever more, thats how you'll stay

User ImageYes, I've seen some clothes really inspired by old fashions. I haven't seen them in the local K Marts, but more boutique-ish shops.
That's why, darling, it's incredible
That someone so unforgettable,
Thinks that I am unforgettable too....

Everything old is new again! I've been seeing Edwardian styles in some of the catalogues I get, too, alongside the neo-Victorian stuff. I think a lot of people are rebelling against the overly-manufactured feeling that's been pervasive since the late '20's and harkening back to the artistry and craftsmanship of a bygone era, as though to somehow ease a feeling of lost humanity engendered by too many machines and electronics. A chance to start over, and do it right this time. Plus, perhaps the notion that we've strayed too far from civility in these post-modern times, and we seek to restore the grace we once had. And maybe, we're seeking to shuck the apathy and the overly casual attitudes and reach back to a time when we actually gave more a of a hoot. At least, I hope so. Could also be that Victorian stuff on girls looks hot and a girl really likes a dashing gentleman in a well-cut suit. Probably a combination.

I have noticed that fashions seem to be coming back. I go shopping at this place where you can buy skirts that look like they come from victorian times. I am actually thinking of buying one. I have also noticed that corsets are coming back. I just think that people like how we used to dress and they would rather that. I mean... Before we know it we could all be wearing long dresses and suits...

In my eyes, fashion is on a continuous cycle of reviving old trends. It's just a matter of which decade is popular at the moment. It's fantastic!

I see mostly corsets and lolita that seem to be linked. But lots and lots of other clothes can be considered historically inspired as well ^^ Fashion just continues to go on and through it's cycle.

This season many things like trench coats seem to have taken on a bit of a more historically inspired look and bomber jackets are huge.
