On your mark....Get set.....Go!
That's right everyone! The 2nd contest has officially begun! Please read the following announcements for friendly reminders on the rules. Now lets talk what will happen in two weeks.....
When you have written your story, poem etc, you will have a three day 'door' on when to post your work. After those three days, a new announcement feed will come out, announcing the next question and any new rules or changes based on the last contest. During the two weeks where you will be writing a new work (if you want to) the last contest works will be posted for people to comment and 'vote'. I will have a poll where you may vote for one person for each category and the winners will be given their prize amount. The amount of prize money depends on the amount of donation money so donate up and thanks to you all that have done so already.
Before you submit your work make sure to have this written somewhere...
Username (not name, your username) if you wish to remain unanimous, please pm o0-WGU-0o
Title
Amount of words (if the category has a min or max amount of words)
If you want people to comment on your work
Oh and yes and there will be no question for the World today, instead you may submit anything opinion-based, such as a report you had for school etc.

My Friendly Reminder.....
Alright everyone.... here's a friendly reminder on the rules. If you fail any of these requirements, I will PM you and ask you to change it. If you still don't change it, then it will be deleted (but don't worry, you can do the next week if you so please). Remember, you don't HAVE to do any contests but you can still vote and comment. Also, you may only summit to two different categories per contest but only one writing per category. After each contest you may submit to any two categories. Here are the rules/ requirements:
Opinion Galore is where you can submit and writings where you take a stand on an issue, event and others, such as a school report on a book what ever you like it or not and so forth. Be careful not to offend anyone or I will ask you to change the writing or remove yourself from the contest. I only need one PM to remove it, don't let me do that. The Miniume words is 300 and the max is 3000.
Fan-fiction are stories that include another book (like Harry Potter but your version of it) You may not submit a chapter no longer than 2,000 words. If you do have a chapter longer than 2,000 words, please write up an intro and post the link your story (like threw fanfiction.net). Please post what book you are basing it off to
Short stories are for you imagination! You cannot write more that 3,000 words. Perhaps later we will have a novel category.
Poetry: there are no requirements but if it is not 'poetic' then it will be considered placed in the wrong forum. I hope everyone knows a poem from a novel, but if you're not sure if it is or not, just PM o0-WGU-0o
For all the topics you must NOT:
Write words that may offend someone else. That doesn't mean that you can talk about people from history that did immoral actions but as long as it doesn't offend anyone, then it is OK. For example, you may write about how President Jackson killed thousands of Native Americans by force marching them to reservation, but you may not talk about how all white people are immoral.
Using racial words or excessive swearing
Use 'txt' or shorting of words (we dont want u to write lke dis)
Your writing must be your own work, plagiarism will result in your membership deleted
rewrite or reuse a writing you (or someone else) have previously submitted (using a writing you wrote for school is fine).

And a follow up..... currently we have a total of 10551 gold. We have five options on how to distribute the money. Here are the options:
Only 1st prize winners would get 2,600 gold each with 151 left over
1st and 2nd winners with 1st getting 1,500 and 2nd getting 1000 with 551 left over
1st, 2nd, 3rd winners with 1st getting 1,300, 2nd getting 800 and 3rd getting 500 with 151 left over
-or-
No one gets a reward, we wait until we have more donations
-or-
We give out money to anyone who submits a writing (amount will depend on the donation and amount of people submitting.)
Please post you opinion on this forum on which to go with or if you have a better idea on how to distribute the money. And thanks for everyone who has donated so far!
And because the amount of money we have WILL change, the numbers are given to give you a idea on how much will be give to each, percentage wise.

I think right now we should do the "1st, 2nd, 3rd winners with 1st getting 1,300, 2nd getting 800 and 3rd getting 500 with 151 left over" option until we have a good amount of money to give to everyone who submits.

The only thing about giving money to anyone who submits is the fact that people may not write their best if all they have to write is a few paragraphs and they get a certain amount of gold. If there was an award for 1-3 then they might write a better paper knowing if they win they would be reconized as a good writer and get more money.

i think it should be 1st 2nd 3rd who get prizes or money (whichever) and you should have honorable mentions like best line in the whole thing, wierdest style of writing, most inspiring, best over all, funniest, the "pulitzer" prize,
and the Writer's Guild Chosen Few Literature of the Month.
I don't know it is just an idea i came up with right now.

mexicantacos2003 i think it should be 1st 2nd 3rd who get prizes or money (whichever) and you should have honorable mentions like best line in the whole thing, wierdest style of writing, most inspiring, best over all, funniest, the "pulitzer" prize, and the Writer's Guild Chosen Few Literature of the Month. I don't know it is just an idea i came up with right now. alright perhaps we can do that once we get more members and money. It wont be fair if we happen to have only about 8 people submitting in each category and the the same person is winning everything. We could do the 'best writer of the month' this month (or next)

I can't find it. no, you can not submit any writings till December 12th threw 15. The 15 is when the voting will start and people may start on a new writings for the next dead line. We have a link to the calender on the home page

So, when you say, they can not have been submitted, do you mean that we can only put a piece of writing in once and never again, or that we can't put it up after it's already on Gaia?

I'm saying that we haven't had any contests yet, I don't care if its been submitted to gaia before just as long as you haven't submitted it to this guild, which nothing has because there hasn't been any contest or anywhere to submit it yet

Hey guys!!! Turn in starts tomorrow!!! I will post 4 forums for each calagory, but after the contest (and voting) has ended, i will delete all 4 and the top 3 from each calaory will be posted on the rules (sticky) page. Perhaps after i will make a website to post all the winners so it will be more organanized, but not now. Have fun everyone!!!
