Finally! Tristin's whining had broken through Nothing's laziness at last and he had convinced him to see if Mr. Adrian would allow Malachite over.
From the child bouncing about the house, cleaning up a few things he had already done once, it was apparent what the answer was. Taking another peek out the front window, Tristin whined to himself as his friend still hadn't arrived.
The little guy had even bothered to make himself look nice for Malachite's visit. A wrinkle-free tee-shirt and and a pair of khakis. He had even bothered to comb his hair out. It was a surprise to notice how his hair had grown since his arrival. Without it knotted up around his head, it covered the back of his neck and got in the way of his eyes quite often. This just would not do.
Sweeping it out from in front of his eyes once again, he checked his room to be sure Gully hadn't left anything lying around. It looked mostly clear. though his bed was still a mess.
"Mmn... I hope Da' actually asked him... Wouldn't be a surprise, hearing he imagined it or something..." Sighing, Tristin plopped onto his bed, tugging at a bit of hair which hung in front of his eyes.

"'Drian, hurry up," Malachite whined as he tugged his guardian down the street.
Adrian whined right back, continuing his steady pace.
Malachite pouted, letting go of the man's hand to bounce a few steps ahead of him. He was wearing one of his "nicer" outfits, today, since he considered it a special occasion. He hadn't seen Tristin lately, and had never been to his house.
Adrian sighed softly as he eyed Malachite's choice of clothing: a button-up, white shirt, blue plaid skirt, with white knee-high socks and Mal's favorite pair of boots. It was reminiscent of a Catholic school-girl outfit -- a thought that made Adrian shudder uncomfortably.
"Kite-boi, hold up," he called after him, stopping in his tracks.
Malachite turned around, blinking at his guardian with eyes that had been covered in a little too much makeup.
Adrian pointed to the house he'd stopped in front of. "We're here."
"Oh... whoops," Malachite said with a shy smile, retracing his steps.
Adrian stepped towards the house and reached for the doorbell -- only to be stopped by Malachite's cry of, "I wanna do it!" With a belabored sigh, he stepped back, allowing for the green-haired kiddlet to push the button.

Tristin continued to sit on his bed as he waited for Malachite, picking at his hair and outfit alternatively, scanning his room for anything which was still amiss. Failing to find anything, he sat for a moment more, cleaning his fingernails.
Just as he had finished picking at his ringfinger, an electronic gong sounded through the house, signaling someone had arrived.
"Ha!" Jumping up, Tristin bolted out of the room, nearly running into the hall wall in his excitement. Dashing for the front door, he passed by Nothing just as he had lifted himself from the couch, causing him to blink after his son for a moment before shrugging and sitting again, leaning slightly to watch as Tristin opened the door.
Calming himself as he reached the door, Tristin began grinning broadly as he peeked out the window, spotting the jade hair which marked his friend. Opening the door, he smiled out at the two on the porch, his friend and the guardian.
"Heya, Mal! Hello, Mr. Karlet." Stepping out of the way, he made way for the two to come in.

"Hi!" Malachite squeaked. As he stepped inside, he managed a slight trip and reached out to Tristin for support, effectively hugging him.
"Hey, kiddo," Adrian said with a grin, ruffling Tristin's hair as he stepped around the two. "How many times have I said not to call me by my last name?" he chided before adding, "You two behave yourselves, okay? I'm gonna go preoccupy your da' for a while."
Malachite giggled, his arms still wrapped around Tristin.

Tristin nearly stepped back as he saw Malachite trip, reaching forward to try and steady him before he wrapped his arms around him. "Eh... Happy to see me, bud?"
Tristin smiled up at Adrian, pouting slightly and smoothing down his hair after he ruffled it. "Eh... Sorry, Mr. Karlet. Oh, Da's in there." Tristin nodded to a room attached to the entranceway, causing Nothing to waves quickly from where he was still watching.
Tristin chuckled, smiling at Malachite. "Hmm... Wanna head to my room? I don't think anyone will show to bother us there."

Mal nodded and smiled, still clinging to him.
Adrian smirked, disheveling the blue hair once more before ducking into the adjoining room, leaving the kids to their own devices.
"Sure," Malachite said, regaining his footing finally. He stepped out of the way of the door and bent over to unzip his boots, kicking them off and placing them out of the way. He straightened, looking around the hallway before meeting Tristin's gaze again. "Your house is nice," he said.

Tristin chuckled softly, smiling as he leaned in for a quick kiss. "Well, it's certainly good to see you again. "
Tristin whined at Adrian's back as he left the room, smoothing down his hair again, a finger getting caught in a knot and pulling at it, causing him to grumble to himself.
Tristin shrugged slightly, looking around quickly. "Thanks, bud. It's a bit small, but it's not too bad. Only 5 proper rooms." Nodding slightly, Tristin looked Mal over quickly, finally taking in his outfit, causing him to smile once again. "Hmm... Would you like a snack or anythign before we go back there? I think we might have some cookies left..."

"I missed you," Malachite said, returning the kiss with his usual shy hesitance.
He glanced at his surroundings again, missing Tristin's appraising look. He turned to Tristin again, shaking his head and letting his hair fall to the sides of his face. "Maybe later, please," he replied, "I'm not very hungry right now, and I wanna see your room."

Tristin nodded slightly, smiling at Malachite. "It was a real bother, notting getting to see you for so long. Still wish you could have come to my school. Everyone there's boring..." Tristin nodded again. "Nowhere near as interesting as you, at least."
"Ah... 'Kay, then." Tristin smiled at Mal as he hooked his arm around his, nodding to the small hallway that all the bedrooms branched off of. "My bedroom's down there. Eh... Avoid the first door. I think Luci's in his room." Nodding quickly, Tristin started down the hall, leading Malachite.

"I still don't know why we're in two different schools," Mal said, a confused look on his face. "Sorry it's so boring."
He followed Tristin's lead, tilting his head and blinking at the first door. He understood that siblings who had their bedroom doors closed were best not to be disturbed; he'd learned that the hard way. He glanced along the hall, trying to pick out the door to Tristin's room.

"Hmm... Well, Da' might be able to fix that... The schools mustn't be too far apart, huh?" Smiling slightly, Tristin shrugged. "Oh, well. I'll deal with it. But how's your school? Is it interesting?"
Tristin stopped at the second room down the hall, a door with a drawing of what looked like a checkered boy with a giant fork beside him taped to it. "I share this room with my other brother... But he's not in now. Good thing, too. I cleaned just before you came." Nodding quickly, Tristin pushed open the door, quickly stepping in and walking to one of the beds that were pushed up against the walls, a green and purple quilt folded at the foot of it. Patting the spot beside him, Tristin smiled at Malachite. "And... This is my room. What do you think...? You like? " The room was filled with the usual things, all of them looking rather dust-free, though quite well-used. A shelf was also hung on the wall beside the bed, small stones Tristin had intended to show to Malachite and several books on it.

"Oohh, that'd be nice, if he could," Malachite beamed. "My school is okay... the teachers are all really nice, especially Mr. Ferguson, the science teacher. He also helps me with my math, sometimes."
He blinked at the picture on the door as they stopped beside it. He began giggling as he studied it, then peered into the room as the door opened. He stepped inside, turning around to look at the whole thing. He finally turned back to Tristin, smiling. "It's nice," he said, poking the purple and green quilt that had caught his eye before sitting beside Tristin, bouncing a little. He eyed the other side of the room. "Does your brother not like to keep the room clean?"

Tristin nodded, trying to think of an excuse as to why he should be transferred. "Well, I'll try to see if he will. If I catch him unoccupied, I'll ask." Tristin chuckled, smirking slightly. "Well, it's good you have a nice teacher. Do you have trouble with math? I'm... relatively good at it."
Tristin smiled even more broadly as Malachite said the room was nice, draping an arm over his shoulder and leaning against him as he sat down. "It's great you like it. Eh... The quilt, I think, was Gully's before he decided on orange and blue." Tristin nodded to his brother's bed against the oppostie wall, an orange and blue quilt folded at the foot of it. "Oh, I doubt he even realizes he's making a mess, sometimes... He just gets so excited. It's quite annoying if he stays excited for a while. I have to follow him, making sure he doesn't wreck everything..." Tristin nodded slightly, eyeing Gully's oddly shaped spork-staff.

"Okay," Malachite said. "Yeah, I'm not very good with math. Maybe you could help me sometime?"
He snuggled against Tristin, still taking in the room. "Ohh," he said as Tristin described Gully. "I'm glad none of my siblings are like that. They're all pretty quiet and stay out of trouble. Except Alfie; she's a spaz." He smiled, thinking of his "sister" fondly.

Tristin nodded slightly, still smiling. "I'll do what I can. What sort of things are you doing now? I think my teacher said we were behind, actually..."
Resting his head on Mal's shoulder, Tristin nodded slightly as he finished. "Yeah, it's a bother to have someone so excitable. Not just that, but he's clumsy..." Trist chuckled softly, glancing at Mal. "But it's good you just have a spaz. They're easier to deal with than kids like Gully."
Sitting up slightly, Tristin glanced to Mal. "Hmm... Would you like to do anything? I bet you're bored, just talking. We have a few things we could play..."
