The past is where it all began. Technology is what did it. Humans are the ones to blame for it. I am no longer a human thanks to my own kind. The War of the World has long been over yet I still remain, wondering if I was destined to be the soul survivor of the bombs that destroyed the world. I am a monster, mutated into such by the radiation of the bombs.
Some of the original plants and animal life has survuved a long with me, but as far as I have seen I am the last human alive on this planet. But I am not a human now, only half of that remains. The other half is animal, that only comes out to my moods. As a human I retain the ears and tail of the creature that responds to my moods and hunger but I can not hide what I have become to another human should I ever find one alive.
I have seen ruined human bodies on the streets of the towns but by now they are gone. The radiation has changed me so much and I have not aged since the day of the War of the World ended and I awoke to the new world and the new me. I have traveled the entire continent that once was North America, searching for another human but I have had no luck. I returned home for a short time, to prepair for my crossing to South America. That is when my story truely begins.
I had finally come home to my old town after my long absence as I searched for other humans that could have survived the war. I was standing on the door step of my old house, wondering if it was a good idea to enter and see what I had never had the courage to see. There was no wind blowing through the streets as there should have been. My black ears were straining to pick up the sound of any living thing in the entire town. My black tail was twitching with nervousness at the unnatural silence of the entire place.
Something was wrong and I could feel it. I could smell the rotting wooden houses and the parched soil beneith my feet. I could feel the remains of the radiation from the bombs still contaminating the air and soil of the town and all around it. My body slowly began to shift to my mutated form. I was not taking any chances at this point in my life. I knew that it could be a pure mutant unlike me. A human that was completely morphed into a monster.
