It was a cool summers day, one like every other but in itself special Jo smiled pleasently as he let his legs take him where ever he ended up. For once he was not training and he decided to relax free from his usual training he wanted to relax and ponder on a few thoughts. With a small smile he looked up to the sky. A few clouds blowing slowly above him. He looked around there was no one in sight but that was okay it was peaceful and calm although he would not refuse a little bit of company if it came to him, in one way or another it seemed to and he had a feeling that a very special guest was going to find him today. He hoped so.
Making his way over to the lake he decided it was time for a was. He smiled and walked into the lake making sure he didnt desterb the water too much. Me kept walking until he was into knee level before he laid down it was refreashing getting out of the sun. The wings on his head splashed some water in his face before he rolled over then letting himself soak he could go to sleep he loved his little baths they always put him in a good mood even more than usual. Since he was white he needed washing a lot of he went a mucky grey color and he was sure no one would want to talk to a dirty Soquili it was rude!
With a small random laugh as always he stretched and looked at the grass that was surrounding him on the edges of the lake it looked tasty and he was hungry but he did not want to get out of of water yet he was sure that his stomach would forgive him.

Summer was here! Summer was finally here! Alyssum neighed happily to the world, tossing her cream-colored mane in the warming sunlight even as she cantered through the forest. All the trees had once again gained the green foliage she loved, and the plants that had begun to peek out once again in the spring were now in full bloom. Daffodills, daisies, even the simpliest white clover delighted her, and she breathed in the scent of vitality that the plethora of blooming plants offered.
Her movements slowed when she reached the lake, and she squinted against the sun. She thought she had seen something going into the lake... and really, that didn't seem like a bad idea. A cool bath would do her mussy coat good, and then she could follow it up with a nice roll in the sweet grass. The thought of sharing the water didn't bother her any, though she approached with more than her normal amount of caution. She wouldn't want a repeat performance of the Goat, right?
As the chocolate mare neared the water, her violet eyes widened. It wasn't a Soquili at all... it was a bird! At least, that's all that she could see, two large, blue-white wings flapping madly in fear of the shimmering liquid that surroudned it. Yet, before she could dive in to the rescue, something happened that made her take two steps back in surprise, her blazed head bobbing even as her tail flicked. Those wings... those wings were part of a Soquili? How was that even... and he had TWO pairs? Yes, he had a larger, purple-tipped pair on his back in addition to the ones gracing his golden mane.
In one of her moments of pure awe and curiousity, any form of etiquette flew out the window, and she blurted out, "What... are you supposed to be?"

Jo's ears perked slightly of his eyes widened a small blush coming across his face, even though unlike humans soquili can never really be naked the fact that he was seen taking a bath embarrassed him slightly it was rude to was in the gaze of others anyways. With a small nervous chuckle he stood up shaking himself off his hair stuck to his face. He slowly made his way over to the mare that was on the side of the lake, he got out and shook off his feet making sure that he did not wet her at all. In a small moment of silence he thought about her question it was an odd one and he had never been asked it before which seemed odd for the pure obvious nature of it, Jo knew he was not normal.
"Me? well I am... Jo."[/gold] he stated with a small chuckle. "That's all I will ever be and all I am my ears are different I admit but I am no different to any other." He stated with a small chuckle a small smile creeping onto his face before he tilted his head. "Why what are you?" he asked in a slight joke as he stepped a little closer to her. "besides a very beautiful mare." He stated as he looked her up and down she was he liked the fact she looked so natural it was a nice change to some of the overly cluttered mares he knew in his eyes simple was beautiful.

When the strange, avian-ish Soquili emerged from the lake, Alyssum backed up another step, knowing that he was going to need to shake off his fur. Not to mention his feathers, which would stick together without care. She half-wondered if he would preen like other birds did, but she couldn't imagine his flat teeth handling the task as well as their curved beaks. Regardless, it seemed he participated in no such action as he immediatly answered her blunt question.
Her pointed ears twitched slightly at his response, and the dappled mare stared intently at the wings attatched to his head. Now that he said it, she had to admit that the appendages were in the correct position for ears, but she couldn't imagine hearing anything through all those feathers! Wouldn't they make it hard to catch the sounds? Did they tickle? Without much thought she regained the steps that she had taken back, regaining some of her basic manners as she replied, "Nice to meet you, Jo."
However, her gaze was still focused on his wings, eyes flicking from the large ones on the stallion's back to the smaller ones on his head. She was so focused that she did not notice Jo stepping forward at the same time she did, not until her black-tipped muzzle brushed against his lightly damp head-wings. The soft feathers tickled her nose, and she immediatly withdrew with an apologetic whinny, "I'm sorry... it was an accident!"
Slightly frazzled, her answer lacked some of her normal confidence, actually somewhat sheepish as she identified herself. "I'm Alyssum."

Jo smiled at the mares timidness as he looked at her with a comforting yet warm look in his bright aqua blue eyes. He was not used to really shy females, but she did not seen shy more nervous. He knew that many mares where uneasy towards men, he did not blame him he knew some who would take advantage of a cute and innocent little girl like this, she appeared that way to him. He looked up to the sky a small smile coming onto his face as he spoke in a soft tone of voice.
"Alyssum, A.. Lay.. sum, Alyssum." He stated as he passed around her playfully saying her name with a friendly sing songy ring to it. "That's cute it suits you well." He stated sticking out his tongue slightly before nudging her nuzzle with his and then standing in front of her once again. "Don't mention it... after all this world is full of accidents that's what makes it beautiful." He stated with a small chuckle he was full of random little riddles like that it was his way of making friends. That or he just liked the sound of his own voice who knew?

Alyssum relaxed beneath the stallion's friendly gaze, fairly certain that the brightness she saw in his light blue eyes was genuine. Despite his odd appearance, the mare found no threat in him, not in someone who'd duck into the pond and then sing-out a stranger's name. The chanting in itself struck her as just another unique trait of the stallion, as much a part of him as his dual sets of wings. Now that she had gotten over the shock of the feathers, she noted other differences as well - a bright blue horn spiraling from the middle of his forehead, a tail that, unlike her own, was long and slender, only ending with a tuft of fluff.
The sudden touch of Jo's muzzle to her own made her snort in surprise, her powerful personality reasserting itself as she gave a toss of her mane. Her touch had been accidental, rude but forgiveable... but his was a gesture of shocking familarity, even for the friendly mare. Still... maybe that was just his way? She decided to let the matter drop, instead responding to his compliment with confidence. "Yes. I was named after the flower, which is also... well, it isn't cute. I think it's pretty, though."
Her curiousity overtook her once again, and she began to circle around the white stallion, taking closer note of all his unique features as she asked, "Were you named after something too?"

"Ah ye I can imagine it now... but the flower would in no way live up to you miss. Being named after a gift from nature is a wonderful thing." He stated with a small smile as he stepped away from her a little to give her some space his lion like tail swaying back and forth and his ear feathers blowing in the wind, he let them dry naturally he would not normally but it was rude to groom in front of a lady. Jo chuckled lightly at the mares snort, he treated everyone he met as his best friend, they where all connected after all every Soquili was one member or a rather large extended family who where connected by there hearts. He believed even the most evil Kalona had a heart which was a lot to say what one took away from him... Anyways her reaction made him think more carefully about what he did he did not want to upset her with over familiarity it was hard of him to notice it though.
"My full title is Joseph Nicolas Raffealo of Thornshead Gate, it doesn't mean anything really, Nicolas was my fathers name, Raffealo my families name and Thornshead was the place I was born... My first name I have no clue I do know my mother gave it to me though so I do like it, it was the only gift she had chance to share with me..." He stated with a small smile looking up at the sky it was what he always did when talking about her, it was his way of saying he was thinking about them all.

Alyssum listened intently to his words, a smile coming unbidden to her face. Names had always been important to her, and to hear someone with such history in them. It identified his father, his family... even his place of origin! His full name, laden with identifiers and information, pleased her immensely, and her tail swished in delight.
However, his reaction to his name made her stamp her black hoof in protest, and her retort came immediatly, "You're wrong! Your name means everything... and obviously, your parents thought so too. They gave you all of those names for a reason, so that you could remember your family. your birthplace... your mother gave you a gift, in your own words... and you think those mean nothing?!"

"I have lernt thats names represent the body and not the soul, I could be called fluffy and that would not change me. They are nice and meaningful, you a remembered by a name but you are loved for you. I am sorry if I offended you its just the way I look on things." He stated with a small smile he was always one to voice an opinion even if it wasn't needed it was just the kind of stallion he was. It was odd that they where talking about his family he loved thinking about them but at the same time a drop of sadness came into the males eyes. He wanted to keep them close to him and he always had and always will but it hurt so much to do so.
"My name was a gift and I respect them, I think you misunderstood my talk, I said it doesn't really mean anything in a way I dont care about them, I meant it in a way like the words themselves do not have a meaning like Sakura means Chery Blossom and Alyssum means a flower." He stated with a small smile he really should have said that first it might have been a smarter idea to explain but as always he had to be confusing. "Even so.. my mother gave me a more important gift of time, the time she spent with me." he added muttering to himself as he reflected on some old times, he really missed them but he snapped out of his daydream he really did not want to act this way in front of a lady. He smiled at her in a reassuring way Jo was not one to be hurt easy and he did not want her to feel as if he was.

The mare sighed as the conversation continued, staring at the lake. How could she explain it better? How could she put into her words what her mind had wrapped around itself into truth? That names were things and things were names, that the two defined each other?
Alyssum... Alyssum is more than a flower. It' the color of my mane and tail, it's a sign of the forest, it links me to my family... it's... everything I want to be. Tough, prosperous, beautiful... for me, Alyssum is everything.
But something else made her break her stare, turning once more to the feathered Soquili. Something... something in the tone of his voice, the way the light came from his eyes. It reminded her of her siblings, and a soft tone cme into her voice, "Hey... are you alright?"

"yes don't worry about me I am fine." He stated with a small smile as he looked down into the lake. Reflecting once more he seemed to do it a lot think back to the time he had with his family he got like this when ever he talked about them how he could not save them... how he let them die. He was a colt so their was nothing he could do about it and he knew that but the fact was even though that was the case he should have died with them, protecting them and not have been knocked out by that Kalona, falling down a hill and away from its reach. He believed that so much. However he was happy with his life and he did not want to feel sorry for himself he was not going to. This world was beautiful and he did not want to miss one minuet of its magic. He looked at the mare with a warm heated smile on his face. "I am sorry if I upset you miss it really was not my intention and I should have thought more before saying something that might have caused offense." He stated with a small smile as he bowed his head before stepping to one side slightly to nibble on a few cuts of grass the ears on his head slapping slowly to dry themselves. "Its a wonderful day... I am in the mood for a walk would you like to join me?" he asked looking up at her.

Suspicion lingered in the mare's violet eyes, but she did not push the issue though her tail swished to create a squiggly 's' of white through the ai. If the stallion didn't want to talk about whatever was bothering him, when something clearly was, she could always raise the point again later. For now, the flaps of head wings distracted her, and she only half-registered the question until she realized that Jo was waiting for a response.
It took her a moment to recall what had been asked, but as the other Soquili nibbled at his grass, a grin spread across her face. Her ebony hooves pawed at the earth, acting as the only warning before she broke into a sprint, her whinny a challenge, "Whywalk when you can run instead?"

Jo blinked at the mares challenge he did not like to race and fight with girls it was something that he had been told he should not do. He look in a deep breath putting his ever so sweet smile on his face, its that's what she wanted to do then he would do it. With a small yawn his stretched his wings once more before he walked around to the side of her. "well... Okay but just for a little while." he stated with a small smile as he flicked his fluffy mane out of his eyes you would not think so but the fact was that it was long enough to get in his eyes and it was in his face all the time it was annoying after a while but it was just one of these things.
He looked at the mares hooves before a small chuckle came onto his lips she was so free-spirited in fact she reminded him of another of his friends who he had not seen in a very long time. He thought about her for a moment before his attention went back on the spunky mare who had been keeping him company. "so where do you want to go?" he asked as he tilted his head his big aqua blue eyes looking straight into hers. Some people considered it strange that Jo never lost eye contact when he was addressing you even when he was facing the side his eyes where still seeking yours. It was apart of his role... it was rude not to give someone your full attention when walking especially a mare.
He tilted his head once again looking cute like a little lost puppy he was good at pulling off that face even though most of the time he did not realize he was doing it. The wind blue past his messing up his already unneat mane. His long strong tail was waving slightly too it was not the strongest part of his body and he had no real control over it besides getting it to moved back and forth like a dog waggling its tail.

Alyssum continued in her play, circling around the winged stallion and watching as his eyes followed her own. This became the subject of her game for a time, making the movements increasingly quick to see how long his gaze could find her own.
His question made her neigh in protest, shaking her head as she continued to charge forward, "It's not about where I want to go - it's about where WE'RE going to go, so it has to be somewhere you like too!"

A smile came onto Jo's face once again as he smiled. He tilted his head slightly in thought, where did he want to go? the question made him ponder for a few moments as he looked up at the sky. The mare was wingless so the place would have to be within reasonable running distance which did not leave them with much option. He closed his eyes and took a deep breathe in it usually helped him to think. After a few moments and even bigger smile came onto his face.
"I know where we can go, I say we go to the totem pole near the village and then we can watch the humans for a while I hear they are having some kind of party this time of year." he stated with a small smile. Jo was not the biggest human lover in the world but he had slowly come used to them because of his owners and because of the many times he had been to the village with Taharial. You could not blame him for hating humans though. After what they had done to him... but that was all hush hush.
Jo wondered if she liked humans he knew that some really hated them and he could not understand why he was a little edgy around them but some hated them for no reason or feared them. With what he had gone through he saw this a little childish. He looked at her with his big eyes as he made his way by her side and smiled looks like the race was on. If she agreed to the destination.
