I contend that the concept of 'no-self', or anatman, is logical and true, and that reincarnation is both inconsistent with anatman, illogical, and therefore does not represent enlightened understanding.
It seems to me that the concept of reincarnation 'tricks' people into following the path of Buddha, promising release from the cycle of death and rebirth and nirvana. However, the reality of nirvana, reincarnation, and the recycling of karma seem to me to be a part of the illusion of the material world.
I think Buddhists seeking enlightenment must be prepared to give up the concept of reincarnation (which I can't really call a concept, since it is illogical and therefore meaningless).
