VIRTUAL REALITY CHECK

We start with the boys doing tricks on their cyber-bikes. They're heading for a bunch of Splinter-bits when April calls them with an urgent message -- the equipment is on fire! She pulls them out just in time, as the cyber portal explodes.

Casey and Serling put out the flames, and Don's puzzled about how it happened. April decides it must've been a fluke, and Don resigns himself to rebuilding the portal. The other boys and Casey decide to hit the rooftops in the meanwhile, while April and Serling help Don. But there's a menacing-looking cockroach hiding in the lair...

On the roofs, the guys are busting some truly epic moves, all trying to one-up the other. Mikey's getting the worst of the trash talk though, despite his roof-jumping skillz. Casey says he "looked pretty cool, Mickey," prompting Mike to wonder what's up with the nickname. Eventually he tries a jump, but before he can land the building moves back, making him fall! Raph and a fire hose dive to the rescue, but when Mike says what happened nobody believes him.

Back in the lair, April and Serling are asking all kinds of technical questions, but Don just wants to work. April gives up and goes out, calling the turtle "Donald" along the way. More puzzlement, but there's work to be done.

In Khan's dojo, we see a whole bunch of Foot working on -- gasp -- their own cyber portal! They've apparently planted a spy in the lair...

On the streets, the boys and Casey find a big group of Purple Dragons and proceed to beat the tar out of them. All is going well for a while, but then a garage door opens and Casey gets shot in the back with a MASSIVE laser, completely vaporizing everything except his hockey mask. The boys, enraged, try chasing the PDs into the building, but when they get inside it's entirely empty. Just then, April pulls up in the garbage truck, and the Turtles pile in.

The boys are breaking down, trying to tell April what happened to her fiancee, but surprisingly she doesn't seem to care. She turns the truck into an alley and heads straight for a wall, apparently not noticing it. For a second, Casey's voice comes out of her mouth, but then the truck smashes into the wall and bursts into flames. The boys are rattled but were fortunately wearing their seat belts. Mikey goes up front to get April, but she isn't in the driver's seat. They decide to bail, and see April standing next to the truck. Before they can get her though, it explodes! Shaken by her death, they climb up a fire escape and stop on the roof. This is just too much.

... Wait a minute. Leo realizes that it really IS too much. He thinks they might still be in cyberspace. To prove it, he tries accessing his cyber armor... and succeeds! The other boys get their cyber armor too. Leo suddenly discovers that this is REALLY BAD -- because Don's rebuilding the portal, in full view of the Shredder! They try calling him, but there's no connection. The Cyber Shredder appears and begins fighting the Turtles, who fight back in true cybernaut style. Raph pulls out a DBZ-like smash-through-multiple-buildings attack, but before long Mikey realizes that if they fight the Shredder, they won't get to Donny in time to stop him. They pull out their bikes and start running for the exit, but the Shredder's having none of that.

Cyber Shredder calls Khan and tells him to activate the portal as soon as he's finished, which won't be long now...

Shredder tries a few tricks, such as collapsing buildings on top of the Turtles and making portals to Hell, but the Turtles get past it all, eventually smashing down a huge barricade and simultaneously destroying the program. Donatello, who was still working on the portal, is suddenly released into cyberspace. The boys find their brother and try to quickly explain what happened, much to Don's bewilderment. He tells them that, no, he didn't finish the portal, although he came close. April calls -- for real this time -- wondering what happened to the boys; they'd been gone for hours. She opens a portal to reality and the boys jump through -- but before it can shut, the evil cockroach slurps up some data before running away.

Back in reality, the boys emerge and Mikey tackle-glomps Casey ("you're alive!"). Leo says they'll explain later, but for now it's just good to be back.

Meanwhile, the evil cockroach has returned to the Shredder, with the last remaining data needed to build the portal. Khan and the Foot finish the portal and activate it, bringing the Shredder into the real world!

Wow. Very nice. Even knowing the title of the episode I STILL fell for it right along with the boys. And oh man, Don's face when everything went back to cyberspace. XD I'm SO happy that they finally ragged on the fans about "Mickey" and "Donald" too.
