yup.
I'm doing it. I've been teaching my buddies in ensembles class my songs and we've decided to start a band. a mutual friend of ours (who I used to be in a band with long ago) said she'd sing.

I think it'll be pretty amazing.
oh and I posted new songs....

"new hair", "aqua", and "bathing"

thanks man. I'm going a bit childish with the style, which will be good to many bands around her take themselves way too seriously

So true. Childish isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Dan Deacon's "Wham City" goes on both of your playlists right now. It's like Raffi decided to write techno.

It does, doesn't it? I mean, if you replace the techno riffs with an acoustic guitar playing basic open chords, totally.

Also, I'd like to voice my support for this venture. It does sound a little generic indie, but who the ******** cares, eh? It's not radio trash, and you'll work out a you sound, for certain, especially when your band members and yourself really mesh, so don't sweat that noise.

thanks!
yeah, that's how I've felt about it.
I know my stuff is kind of garden variety indie rock, but that's just because I'm trying to mimic the sound of a full band instead of just doing whatever and freeing up the instrumentation (which I'll definitely do someday)

I especially look forward to the "meshing". (with exception of our drummer) the group has a pretty wide range of interest, and yet we're still all very like-minded. working on a cover of The Damned's "Neat Neat Neat"
we have a freekin amazing vocalist and we finally have a place to practice.
so I too would like to express my support. =D

I don't mean to be negative in any way, but Dan Deacon is the furthest thing from techno. Try this or this.

Anyway, new songs are sounding good. I agree with others on the meshing though. Once you have a solid foothold you can experiment more. Keep on keeping on.

Er, no. Richard Swift is the furthest thing from techno, and what you've got there is just loop-based, heavy bassline pseudo-dance techno music. Kinda genera-indie techno, really. I mean, they're not trying to be Daft Punk (for a change, bonus points plus a thousand zillion) but it's also not any more super-indicative of techno than what I posted. Hell, what I've got's even more cookie-cut, due to the arpeggiation, odd syncopation, and auto-Q'd bass riffs.

Oh, but I suppose this is where I supply a counter-attack to keep the stream of oddities strong. Check this shite out.

It's getting into semantics, but are we talking about the same techno?

I seem to think the genre is a bit wider than you seem to think it is.

I may be tired, but I got the impression that your post equated to 'techno = electronic music'. And I would never call Daft Punk 'techno'.
