Ra'D gave a yawn before glancing at each of his companions, the last one being Kai, and his glance turned into a bit of a stare. He caught himself though, and he turned his attention quickly to the ground directly in front of him. The four of them had been walking for a good part of the day, and the sun was already coming down from its highest point in the sky. The male already felt the cold breeze that seemed to accompany the nights out in the savannah.

He was bored though...so with a small grin on his maw he moved closer to Kai and nudged her. It was the best sort of entertainment for him, just messing around with his best friend. Ra long since stopped paying any attention to what Ka had to say about it, and Ryujin usually left them alone, so why not?
PostPosted: Fri Nov 21, 2008 9:04 pm

Ryujin stayed silent, he was not leading, he was actaully following behind all the others. Though he was the older sibling of Ka and Kai, he felt like the youngest, He seemed to still have that naive innocence in his mind that he needed to let go of, but he still clung to his ideals that his mother wasn't a monster, but Ka believed otherwise, so he wasn't sure what to say or do. All he knew wasthat family was important, and half of his family was leaving, so he followed.

He just didn't want to be alone.

Ka was walking next to ra'd and Kai, but a little bit form them. Really, they made him sick, more then often he'd make a gagging noise if they got too playful, they needed to train not play all the time, but he knew they were close friends, so as of late, he didn't bother enforcing boundaries. They had afterall left their home together, in search of a newer one, one that would welcome them, and they would be a family.

However, Ka did watch Ra'd as he nudged his sister, and he shook his head, black mane falling over his eyes: too playful.

Kai was the only female, besides Kessek who flew overhead as to tell them where the borders would end up being Flicking her tail Kai felt proud and strong for leaving, and also, for being 'the wiser' of their group, as she determined. The way she saw it, females may not have brute strength, but they had stealth, speed, and intelligence. As Ra'd nudged her, she smirked, and nudged him back.

"You don't want ti spar with me today," she said sticking out her tongue.

He grinned at her reply and shrugged. "Fine. We need to keep moving anyway." And he fell behind a bit to walk in time with Ka, then further back to walk in time with Ryujin. Of the three siblings, Ryujin seemed the least comfortable with leaving the Pridelands, but Ra respected him for coming despite that. He also knew that the other two tended to gang up on him now and again, so he was there to help toughen him up for those situations. He was also significantly easier to talk to than Ka.

"How're you holding up back here Ryujin?" he asked, just to check up on him. He'd gotten a bit too quiet, even for him, and he was lagging too far behind for it to be safe should something happen.

Ryujin had been staring at hte ground, but Ra'd's voice made him raise his silver eyes, the same eyes his mother had and that he loved, despite the teasings and grueling stories his brother told him his mother's eyes had seen. But perhaps, Ryujin thought, because he had his mother's eyes, that was why he could not see the things his siblings could, and for that, he was grateful, he really didn't want to believe what his siblings said were true.

"I'm alright, tired, but we have to keep going," he said with a nod. His black pelt was ridden with dust and sand, but there was no time for a bath, they had to keep going. "What about you? How are they?"

Ka watched as Ra'd fell back, eyed him, but then took the lead in front of his sister. Ka really felt like he was the leader of the group, but if he dare say that, he knew he would have a brawl with Ra'd, or even his sister for that matter, for who was truly the leader of themselves. "Don't lag behind you two," Ka said calling over his shoulder, His tone of voice had gotten deeper since being a juvenile, and it suited him.

He looked to Kai, and to the dirt caked on her, adn the other's pelts mainly, and wondered if they should stop, but Kessek above kept flying, and he would keep going as well, though he called to their companion, "Tell us when there is some water."

"Yes, young masters," Kessek replied back with a swoop before them, and kept her eyes alert for the shimmer of the water's surface.

Kai was so excited and anxious, she had been traveling for so long, they left absolutely everything behind the, except for eachother, their homes, family, everything. They brought their strength, what they believed in, and she hoped that would be enough.

She walked with pride, though she was tired, but tried to hide the slip in her step now and then.

Ra gave him an approving nod and shrugged. "Same as always, albeit a bit more tired. We haven't sparred all day, but walking at the pace we've been going has definitely taken its toll on all of us. We'll rest at nightfall, no doubt." He smiled encouragingly and padded back up beside Kai, glaring daggers at Ka for getting ahead.

"I don't lag behind, Ka," he said, almost annoyed. He hid it for the most part, but he knew Ka was sharp enough to catch it. "I was checking up on your brother. I thought something was up since he's walking a little far behind. No worries though." He did 'rounds' as often as he felt it was necessary, not completely out of concern for the other party, but the group as a whole. If one should get injured it would slow them all down, and it wasn't a risk he wanted to take.

Ra's attention then went to Kai and he grinned. "Why'd you let him get ahead?" he asked in a whisper, chuckling a bit. "Getting too tired to keep your post at the head of the group?" If anything he'd get a swat out of her, and if he was lucky a full on tackle. It'd slow them down, but it'd also lift his boredom. It'd also irritate Ka...which was fun to do every now and again.

Ryujin admired Ra'd for being able to speak his mind so freely, it seemed like everyone else but him could do so. That would change though, no mtter what he would have to do, he would become better, stronger, faster, wiser, just as his siblings and Ra'd were. he wasn't exactly sure what to call Ra'd, he was a friend, but also part of the group...titles were so confusing anyway.

He just hoped for rest or water soon.

Ka just huffed at Ra'd, kept his place in front of them both, a smirk on the corner of his maw, he didn't want to brag, but it felt nice being out front, ahead of them all, he would get to the borders first at this point, which inwardly, he was wanting to happen now, but Kessek stayed silent, and so did Ka, not acknowledging Ra'd's statements, jsut keeping going, glancing back now and again to watch them all, make sure no one got left behind.

Even if Ka could be a hard a**, he looked out for his allies...his friends.

Kai just smirked and nudged Ra'd, "You see, watch him," she made a motion with her head and she spoke in a whisper so that only Ra'd could hear, "He may be out front, but he has to keep a steady pace to keep us from catching him, and he'll tire..." Kai was a thinker, and liked to plan ahead and use what energy was needed, and store whatever else in case they needed to hunt.

"He doesn't think, he just acts, you know?"

Her reaction was upsetting, but he didn't let it show. He stifled a laugh and nodded. He forgot that Kai was always one step ahead of them, which was always a good thing. If all of them acted before thinking they would've long since been killed. Even though they were all nearly grown it'd be impossible to make it through the rogue lands alive if they weren't careful. He wasn't one to watch every step, and, like Kai said, Ka never wasted any time thinking about his next move.

"Right," he finally managed to say. And it went quiet again for a while. Awkward...sort of. The male glanced at Kai, caught a small slip in her step, then frowned. He hadn't realized exactly how tired they'd all gotten up until he saw that. They would need more time to rest that night, that was for sure, so he looked up at their avian companion.

"Any sign of water Kessek?" he asked, concern tinting his voice.

Ryujin glanced at Ra'd and the others, and tried to catch up to them a little bit. Though something in his stomach was churning, and it wasn't from hunger, it was from nervousness, even apprehensive feelings gurgling up inside him, but he tried to keep them away, he had already left the pridelands, and he wouldn't go back, not now.

He sighed, tail somewhat limp, flicking now and then behind him, covered in dust, he sneezed and shook his head, black mane over his silver eyes.

Ka watched his siblings, saw more dunes in the distance and sighed. There were rocks in the distance as well, slates, some flat and short though some jutted upwards towards the sun. Kessek flew overhead, and created a small dark shadow that darted and moved in the dips and rises of the sand. The dirt had almost disappeared now, and the sand shifted beneath his paws.

"Kessek!" he shouted upwards, "You haven't forgotten have you?!" he was impatient, and it was getting to him and his temper.

"Oh be quiet Ka," Kai snapped at him, "she traveled here for us once before, she would not mislead us, if your so impatient, why don't you sprout wings next time?" he voice stung. She sighed, looked towards Ra'd and stuck her tongue out at him, rushed towards him, nudged his shoulder then returned to her spot so that Ka wouldn't see.

"Whats the matter Ra'd, too slow?" she taunted with a smirk.

"Thank you young master, mistress," Kessek said as she dipped and hovered between the group, "The young masters would like to know that we approach the borders fast. Those rocks there, was near where I met the others, water is not far from there, but I do believe having all of us go together would be troublesome young masters, it might seem like we were invading."

Ra didn't say much when Ka's temper surfaced for a minute or so, rolling his eyes at him. If he felt so much like a leader he ought to learn to control his temper. At Kai's words he stifled a laugh, not wanting any tension to come up between any of them but...well, it was funny, and she was right...as usual. Instead he slowed down a little bit so Ryujin wouldn't feel too far behind. Kai nudged him at this point, and he glanced at her, a smirk and a quirked brow on his face.

"Not slow, just watching out for your brother back there," he said with a grin. And his expression softened ever so slightly as he looked at her, then he turned his attention to Kessek.

The male sighed with relief when she said that water was near, but her words confused him a little bit. If traveling in a group of four would seem like an invasion...then should they separate? "Wait, so how should we approach the borders?" he asked their winged friend.

Ryujin heard Ra'd and mustered up enough energy to catch up to them, and he gave a huff. Kessek confused him as well, and he was uncertain of how this was going to turn out. They had all elft home together, they couldn't separate form eachother now, not now. There were only four of them right? That wasn't near enough for an invasion, well, then again, they didn't know the size of the pride either.

Ka arched a brow, " She might be right," Ka said stopping before one of the slates that jutted towards the sky. "If they recently had that battle, the one thats told in stories I heard," though he had overheard the conversations really, never spoke in them, "they might be concerned. Perhaps we should split up."

"No!" Kai said defensively, stalking towards Ka and pushing on his chest with her paw, "after everything we've gone through you want to split up now? I won't let us separate, we're young, not nearly old enough to be a target of an invasion!"

"Kai!" Ka said with a growl, though it wasn't on purpose, though he wondered how Ra'd might react. "We don't want to give off the wrong impression here, don't go with your impulse, think of us all!"

"I am, and what do you suspect we do, huh?"

"The twins should go first," Kessek said hovering just above them. "Let the dark boys verge on the edge, red, black, white, the colors of the pride, gold is good too, but not common. Let the twins go first, and make way for the other, I will bring the message of the happenigs back and forth," she said with a nod.

Kai held her tongue, and looked to Ra'd and Ryujin, uncertaintly in her eyes. She didn't want to leave Ra'd....or Ryujin behind.

The dark male furrowed his brows at the thought of separating, and when they stopped momentarily he closed his eyes to think. His ears twitched at Kai's voice as he listened to her side of the argument, and Ka's growl made him open his eyes, a bit of anger swelling. No matter the situation, there was never any need to raise one's voice at a companion. Ra'D padded up to Kai's side, glaring at Ka before pulling her back.

"Kai, calm down.." he said, then looked to Kessek who started to speak once more, then hesitantly began to spoke after her. "We ought to listen to her. Like you said, Kai, she wouldn't mislead us now. Ryujin and I will walk a way's behind the two of you. Kessek should be able to keep us updated with what's happening."

The golden-marked adolescent glanced with a small frown at Kai and spoke quietly to her. "Listen, we've come this far already, and it'll all be a waste if they chase us off or kill us because they think we're invading. We'll only be separated for a little while, so it's not that big a deal.."

Ryujin was indeed holding back his panic, but then again, he wouldn't be alone either, he'd have Ra'd here so there'd be no chance of being picked off by some random rogue or hyena or something. "We won't be gone from each other long, like Ra'd says," he finally spoke after his long moment of silence, "It might show good judgement as well, for consideration of the pride for not wanting to overwhelm them all at once, a sort of introduction, if you will," he said with a nod.

Ryujin was never the brawn of the group, but he did have some intelligence, alongside his nervous tendencies.

"See Kai? Even Ryujin agrees with Ra'd, its settled," he said with a huff, watching Ra'd. Ka knew of Ra'ds special attention and glances he gave his sister, and it bothered him sometimes when he felt like Ra'd was getting between them, but, at least there was someone else that cared and would look out for his sister as well.

"Kai and I will go first," he said to Ryujin and Ra'd, "We'll meet the regents, and let them know of our presence, what we have traveled for, and let them know of you two as well, I will tell them we came as a group, and want to join as a group as well."

"Fine," Kai said looking to the side, she sighed, looking at the sand move as the wind brushed against it gently as if petting it softly. Flicking her tail she looked to Ra'd and Ryujin, and felt a pang of guilt, but they wouldn't leave them behind, not ever.

"We'll have Kessek come to you as soon as we know what is happening, she'll be faster then either Ka or myself on foot, we will come back to you," she said looking at Ryujin, then letting her eyes meet Ra'd's, and she let the silence in her eyes try to convey what she felt.

"Shall we go then young master and mistress? Better to not dwell for too long on the border," she said with a nod, fluttering her wings and looking to the other boys she gave a smile, "Do not worry, I will return soon to you both, we will all have a home soon."

Ra glanced at each of the siblings, then at Kessek who had a smile on her beak as she began to hover above them once more. It'd be a strange journey with just Ryujin, but he supposed it was a good chance to get to know him better. As far as this adolescent was concerned, Ryujin seemed a good enough companion, smart when he needed to be, and reserved enough to keep from getting on his nerves. It wasn't that hard to do that, so the latter was always a good thing.

Ra'D heaved a sigh when the decision became final, looking straight into Kai's eyes for only a moment, just to let her know that the feelings were mutual, before looking back at Ka.

"Understood, we'll keep a good distance away." His attention then went to their avian friend. "Thanks, we'll keep a look-out for you," and with that he nudged Kai one more time before padding over to Ryujin.

"We follow when they hit the horizon. It'll be more than a safe enough distance, I'm sure.."
PostPosted: Fri Nov 28, 2008 3:02 pm

Ryujin watched his siblings, let a sigh release form his chest. There was no other things they could do, just wait for Kessek, their messenger. He looked to the avian and gave a smile, "We will watch for you, no matter what the light is, come find us." He looked to his sister, and then to Ka, Ryujin never felt like the older brother, but now he felt a tug of it at his heart. He was letting his younger siblings go, and he was afraid of what might happen while he was gone. He might not be the strongest, but he could at least help put up a fight.

"Be careful," was all he could say. Flicking his tail he moved to Ra's side, Ra'd was more of a leader than he was, so he was thankful for being with him.

"We will," Ka said simply, "And Kessek will return as soon as we have news, I swear," Ka stretched his forearms, and began on his way, he moved a little ways up, to let Kai have a moment with Ra'd, which he knew she would want. Females, so strange, but Kai was his sister, so he couldn't totally disregard her feelings.

Kai said nothing else, but walked over to Ryujin, and rubbed her cheek against his, and gave a soft smile, and when she turned to Ra'd, she gave a smile, and nuzzled her head beneath his chin for a moment and let a soft purr escape her throat, "I'll come back, I promise," she said softly. Then she turned and took off after he brother.

"I will return soon young masters," Kessek said with a flutter and began off on her way, the twins in tow.

As the twins got so far away that the light was dwindling somewhat, they both stopped, Kessek with a confused look in her eyes. The both stopped, turned and raised their heads to the sun and let a roar reverberate into the air, one of announcement of their friendly arrival, and that of promises to return.
