The Les Paul.  The absolute most recognizeable guitar in rock, hard rock and heavy metal. Hears MR Les Paul, inventer of 4 track recording and quite alot of other things, includeing the Les Paul itself. He is a true guitar LEGEND. I' mean, look at all the doodads on whatzitz on his guitars. he's briliant! and he's also outlived quite a few ppl who play his guitars. AND he still puts on a show Every Friday night at the Iridium in NY city. AND HE'S OLDER THAN DIRT Gibson ES 335 these are renowned by blues guitarists and jazz guitarists for there beautiful tone. Gibson SG Another renowned Rock guitar made famous by manny people. It's double necked model was made very famous by Jimmy Page in Stairway to Heaven. The Explorer: once again i find myself writing about a guitar i know next to nothing about. I do know there BIG and HEAVY. I also know that James Hetfield from Metallica played one for a time. but thats all i know. Ok, Ok i know i forgot it at first but its hear now. THE FLYING V! enough said. Gibson FireBird post an add if i forgot somthing, Ibanez and Dean guitars are my speciality, not the Gibson's.

Gibson is by far the greatest quality guitar you will ever find, even though it is probably the most expensive, I have nine different types of Les Pauls, and a few different SG's (whicth arn't my favorite models.)Gibson also makes amazing acoustic guitars and Mandolins, If anyone has a question on Gibson I am probably the most expert on the on the website.

Just to let you know you posted an Ephiphone les paul picture, dude ephiphones suck so replace that pic with a gibson. Ephiphones are made in foreign countries and they are not near the quality of a gibson, the tone is way worse and the pick ups are generally either cheap alcinos or basic humbuckers, unlike the new standard issued gibson BurstBucker Pro.
Ephiphone is basically the guitar for a begginer with a minimum amount of money.
Just to clue you in.

just because its not brand name dosn't mean it sux, s**t i've got a squire strat that plays better than anny AMERICAN standard strat i've ever played. shoot, i would have to judge Gibson's alleged "Quality" for myself if i could ever get my hands on one, it mostly depends on the person playing the instrument, any1 can go buy somthing high quality and expensive and it still sound like s**t if they didn't know what to do with it. My personal favorite brand, Ibanez, was allways deemed one the lowest quality guitars back in the 80's, and yet, people have still been buying and playing them. My 89 RG570 plays just as good as anything else ive ever played, (and ive played alot, i just never seem to be able to stay at guitar center long enough to get to the Gibsons) and Gibson's also arn't my style, i like the sharp edges of the Rg's and the fact that they have a Floyd Rose Locking Trem, and H-S-H pickup config, and a 1 for all tone knob, but i could ramble on Its one of my things, i don't give a Rats @$$ about quality if the instument can't do what i like to do (dive Bombs, Insane high pitched screams, that sort of thing) ......come to think of it, gibson's havent changed in 50 years have they? and to think i only just realized that, lol and will do on the pic.

thanks for fixing the pic,(it's a 1960 model ebony standard, a best seller)dont get all pissed off about the whole brand thing, what i am saying is guitar companies like squier and ephiphone are not made with the same quility. I'm not saying they suck but i am saying that Gibson is far better than ephiphone as fender is better than squier. Both squier and ephiphone were made as student models or for people that can't afford a Gibson or Fender. Believe me, i know i own, a few of each. Another thing is the fact that Gibson owns Ephiphone and Fender owns Squier. I am a pro bassist and guitarist don't tell me something I said isnt't right.

Just to let you know about you little gibson hasnt changed in 50 year thing, no the body design, model and poduction lines havet changed but gibson is a completly different company tha it was 50 years ago. There are les paul double cuts, explorers, thunderbirds, SG's, Firebirds, and flying v's along with the original Les paul. the thing is that Gibson has completely evolved, Gibson is by far the most versitile guitar company and considering how many different types of each model of guitar they make, I would consider Gibson the greatest guitar company of all time, this dosn't mean I don't like other guitar company's it's just the fact that Gibson is superior

I also have a question about this squir strat you have cuz i like to know how the hell it sounds better than an american made fender, because ive played many many squiers, and fenders in my time and not one squier has ever had better anything than a Fender. And the whole thing were you talked about it depends on the player thing, you can play the same things on any guitar, for example i can make a squier bass talk just as well as a Fender Geddy Lee Precision Bass but theres a big difference between the tone and the playing and the quility of the pickups, and a number of other factors, and obviously the Geddy Lee bass would be the victor, just to humor you i will out to guitar center and playsimilar models of both brands of these stratocasters and compare everthing and see what i find different, believe me though i think i already know the outcome

i have a frend who bought a squire brand new and its action was as good as any guitar ive played, and i like the sound of mine better than the americans, so i guess you just get lucky sometimes. ur prolly right and its just me and not the instrument but hey, thats what matters sometimes eh? now on the topic of "real" guitars, i got a chance to play my Unc's Explorer. its a brand name Gib of some vintage year and it did sound nice. the action was wearing out on it though i think i still have a pic....... ah ha! hear it is  crappy picture, nice guitar.

Xploreres are nice guitars, i own an explorer pro with an amazing faded brown finish, it is a really nice guitar. i wouldnt say there really that heavy, considering they are made of mahogany thats the main reason, and the majority of gibson guitars are made of mahogany.

idk what that one's made of but its frikin heavy as hell compared to my Ibanez and Squire. i think i could have beat someone to death with it and it wouldn't even have a dent in it.
its like any other guitar, there all big 2x4's to some people.

yeh, if it was a gibson or an ephiphone then it was definalty made of mahogany so thats why its heavy

hears one i do know, one of the most famous guitars in the world. THE LOG! u cback in the old days ppl thought the instrument needed f'holes for the instrument to sound right (even with pickups) Les Paul used this to prove every1 wrong. because he'd play it for a while then open up the side and show em how hollow it wasn't.
