"And I can gets any toys I wants?" Bern grinned up her mother walking beside her, reaching up to take hold of her cold hand. It always made her curious why Cold Mommy was always so cold, didn't it ever make her sick? Even now Bern was bundled up in a warm coat to keep her toasty against the cooling weather. Christmas was coming soon! She'd get even more toys during then! Claudine gave Bern's hand a gentle squeeze.

"You may get any toys you want." She corrected, patting her daughter's head with her free hand before opening the door to the toy store for her. "Try not to pick too many this time, I need something to get you for Christmas." Claudine reminded Bernadette as the little girl's eyes lit up at the sight of all the toys. Wow! So many toys! Letting go of her mother's hand, Bern ran off into the nearest row of toys with a happy squeal of delight. Claudine blinked, crossing her arms over her chest and tilting her head. Never seen her do that before over a bunch of toys.

Bernadette already had managed to collect an armful of boxes for different toys, a My Little Pony, action figures she didn't even know the names of, she was pretty much just grabbing stuff. The toys in her arms were quickly forgotten when she spotted the two girls her age looking through the pile of the stuffed animals. Ooh those looked like more fun! And those girls looked alike, were they sisters? "Hiii~" Bern called out, peeking around the head of a fairy doll.

"I'm Bern." She dropped her toys at the bottom of the stuffed toy pile and looked between the two girls. They really looked alike, even moreso now that she was closer to them. They looked like twins! "Are you two sisters?" Bern blurted out, blushing a little bit afterward. Eep! Was that too sudden? Too blunt? Maybe...uh...oh! Stuffed elephant! Yay for distractions.

Bern was totally distracted from the word sister by Hannah being adorably shy and this awesome elephant.

Totally.

But that was in the past, now she was busy wondering if she was the only child in the world without a sibling. Was she...abnormal? She certainly felt her nose was. Nobody else she knew had a nose this big! When Hannah pat the elephant she looked down at it and smiled, holding it out to her. "Wants it?" The elephant wasn't really her thing, but she was sure she'd find something in this pile. She could just feel it. "Do you have lotsa toys?"

"Oh." She couldn't admit to the fact that she had no toys yet. Claudine wasn't exactly Mother of the Year. Or the month...week though? Maybe. She wasn't mean or anything, just terribly inexperienced; she did better with Arianna around. "This's m'first time here." Bern would admit to that at least. It didn't give away too much of the truth, right? Right.

"I like your hair!" Bern grinned, turning around when Abby's called out with joy. What was--whoa! How did she...what...whoa! The little girl gasped. "How'd you get there?" That looked like fun! Bern began to climb over the pile to where Abby was sitting in the ball cage with the balls, blinking and looking down when her hand touched something with hair. What she found was a blonde haired boy doll with a silly expression on his face. Huh. Cute!

Bern looked at the tag for her doll. She couldn't read it, so she'd just ask Claudine to read it for her later. But this was definitely the doll she wanted. Looking up at Abby and holding the doll up with a smile. "I dunno! But he's cute!" And then she saw Hannah's doll. Whoa, creepy.

Speaking of creepy, Claudine was leaning against a nearby wall keeping a very watchful eye on her daughter. The sight of the doll made her frown a little. Was that a boy? Well, she supposed she couldn't exactly force her feelings on men on her daughter; Bern could easily make her own opinions. But the little girl didn't notice her mother just yet, she was tracing a chipped area with her finger. "Is she broken?"

Oh! As long as Hannah took good care of her then maybe the doll would be fine. It looked so old! But now she saw their daddy (At least she assumed that was their daddy) helping Abby out of the cage and Claudine was also picking her up off the stuffed toy pile. Nooo! She just met them! She wanted to play more!

Claudine glanced at the man who was speaking to her, merely nodding to him and shifting Bern so she was sitting more comfortably on her hip. "Is that all you want, Bernadette?" She glanced down at the tag hanging around his ankle. "His name is Edward Elric." Bernadette grinned and nodded, hugging Edward tightly against her. "Say goodbye to your friends, darling."

That made Bern frown again. With a pout, Bern looked back at Abby and Hannah and their father and waved. "Buhbye, Hannah! Buhbye, Abby! We gotsta play again!" Bern smiled hopefully up at her mother, who nodded, kissed her cheek and carried her away to pay for the doll.
