((Takes place after an rp with Basil/Feverfew. I'm skipping ahead a bit.))

She was no longer angry and no longer upset. Now, Bushfire was simply determined. Deep down, she had no idea what she was even planning to do, or why. After all, at the end of the day it didn't really matter what she thought about the whole ordeal. It didn't really matter that she was hurt and scarred over what happened because it wasn't in her power to decide what would or would not happen henceforth.

Despite knowing all this, rational thought had long since flown out of the metaphorical window. Instead, she was moved by some sort of raw, boiling, molten feeling at the pit of her stomach; it told her to claim back what was hers to begin with. It told her she must confront Basil's new mate, if only but to state that she was against everything that had happened and that she was a fool for taking the wood crafter for a mate. Her mind was telling her to voice out what had happened to her chick, to let this 'Fiercefire', whomever she was, know what it was Basil had done in his past.

It was wrong of her. She knew this, and yet her wings flapped as she wooshed through Fiercefire's territory, hooting a harsh call for her as soon as she was near enough to be heard. Life was just not fair.

What was it now? Fiercefire fluffed her feathers at the sound of the harsh call. It seemed like these days, there was always someone looking for her. Before, her task had been the reason for nearly all of her visitors, but now? Now it was her personal life. Her personal life! All she wanted to do was live peacefully with her mate, teach Fireflight, raise children - couldn't they just leave her alone already?!

"If you're not here on business, go the hell away!" she shouted to her unseen visitor.

((OOC - aparently this is meant to be the climatic 'end' of the plot, so I'm going to go reaaaaaally.... slowly after this one post, meeply. Because I guess the other rps we're doing can affect this one a lot.))

If anything, her encounter with Fierceflight had taught Bushfire that she had to remain calm and level headed. So thus, rather than rush into an attack, she twitched mildly at the rude voice that called out to her. Veering slightly, she followed it till she was perched comfortably at a safe distance from Fiercefire, her own eyes narrowed harshly, disapprovingly. It was true that she had barged in uninvited and she was smart enough to know as much, however, something about the Mist's attitude irked the Forager (then again, she was merely looking for excuses to dislike her).

"I am not on business, but such rude tones are hardly required; were you never taught manners? While it is true I barged in here uninvited you should probably hear what it is I've come to say!" her feathers fluffed out at her final words, evident she was upset by the whole situation, "It's a wonder Basil picked such a gruff female to fly to after he left me side at the first sign of peer trouble! Then again it might make sense he'd hide behind you and let you do the yapping," bristling, the Forager sneered, "Coward that he is!"

"Don't you dare insult me!" Fiercefire's eartufts flattened against her head, and she clacked her beak angrily at the invading Wildtype. Like she cared that Basil had had a mate before her? Like she cared what she had to say? Why would she believe a single word from her? Fi was brimming with possible retorts, with snaps and insults, even taken by surprise as she had been, but she didn't feel like wasting her time with them. She'd been expecting some ridiculous neighbor, not this, but it wasn't as though there was much difference. Just someone else who needed to mind their own business. "You need to leave. Now! This is my territory, and you're not welcome here!"

A mild snort resounded at the other female's words, however, Bushfire somehow managed to mask it slightly, "I will leave once I state what I've come here to say," her eyes narrowed as she fluffed out her plumage, trying to appear bigger than she actually was, "If you don't wish to listen then you'll have to TOSS me out. The nerve. I've only come to warn you, you inconsiderate fool!" then again, it WAS true she was invading and thus, was technically the one at fault, no matter how anyone looked at it.

She'd heard rumour Fiercefire was not one to listen to just anyone, but Bushfire was not someone that easily gave up. In fact, if this ordeal had proved anything, it was that she was stubborn to a bloody fault, "Maybe I was wrong and you both DO deserve each other. That lowly coward that abandoned me and you," another snort, "Then again, seeing as how a cloud of filth from the past just headed his way.... it's probable Basil up and left you too. It's his way after all," the words were dark, cold, "Coward to the very bone, and you're as much a fool as I was back then to believe him."

"No," Fiercefire hissed, "You will leave now - I'll have none of your spite!" Bushfire's words fell on deaf ears; as far as Fi was concerned, the inbred hussy was being a sore loser, trying to see to it that if she couldn't have Basil, no one could...and she wasn't going to let her have her way! Whatever might have happened before, and whoever had been left behind, Basil was her mate now.

The Trapper lunged for the intruder, intent on driving her out rather than listening to her.

Oh, but the Forager had already braced herself for the inevitable attack. She had expected it for not only was she aware she'd barged into the trapper's territory uninvited, but she brought the dirty truth with her. Besides, the mudblood Mist was known for being violent. Hardly lady like, she thought to herself, conveniently ignoring the fact that she, herself, had launched into an attack when she'd first met Fiercefire's sister.

"Spite?" she screeched as she beat her wings, forcing her talons in front of her to meet Fiercefire's attack with her own claws, obviously not one to be run out, "You're a blind FOOL!" she was meeting the Trapper's attack with her own force. It seemed it didn't matter to her if she was wounded; she'd come to set her point forth and wasn't backing down, "Basil killed our aberrant son when our families set forth peer pressure! WHAT do you think will happen when you two have a clutch? He'll either run away like he did with me or worse!"

She wanted to pause - to stop and stare and gape at the other female while she processed what she'd just heard - but she couldn't. No matter what might happen later when she gave herself time to think, she couldn't let this other female win. Her attack only wavered for a moment, and her confidence was quick to catch up.

"He's with me now, and my family! He's different now!" Wasn't he? he had to be. She had to believe he was.

Talons clashed, and Bushfire struggled, the situation upset her enough that her skills were faltering, apparently in the way she flailed midair, "Different?!" she demanded as she lashed her talons forth once more, her wings beating wildly, "Different?! No one can change that much! He's a coward to the bone; nothing will change that! And the moment peer pressure rears it's ugly head, you'll get a taste of just what I mean! I don't want him back, you daft loon!" it was true, amazingly enough. The Forager had only recently realised that she'd been an idiot; why would she want someone that not only didn't want her, but hadn't even thought to spare the time to fight her?

No, she didn't want Basil back, and the only reason she was here was to give forth a warning, "If you want him, you can keep him! But oh, mark my words, you are doomed from the start. They already know what happened! They'll come searching for Basil soon enough! That is, if he's not half way out of Noctoa by now, the coward that he is!"

"It already has!" The Trapper lashed out, attempting to take advantage of the Wildtype's faltering. "It already has, and he's still here!" The other had to be, had to be wrong, and she fought as though winning would prove it - like it would make her right, and Fi had to be right. She always had to be right; she always had to win.

"It HASN'T!" she bellowed back as she flailed mid air, "Things went downhill AFTER the aberrant clutch hatched in my nest, which was unexpected! Imagine what will happen when yours, which ARE expected to be aberrants, come!" she was making little sense, for she was still too preoccupied with actually making the other female see her point than in how she was pulling such a stunt off. That, and the fact they were mid fight had her visibly distracted. It was hard to argue a point when you were fighting with a competent adversary.

Sadly, Bushfire was just as determined to prove herself right. Fi's stubborn attitude was met with an equally stubborn counterpart. The Forager didn't back down even when one of Fi's talons brushed against her side, drawing blood. Rather, the pain seemed to push her forth, putting that much of her willpower into the fight and the flurry of feathers they were creating midair, "Still here you say? I don't see him here NOW! Since when haven't you seen him, Trapper? I spoke to him recently, has he come back to you since, or has he abandoned you like he did me?!"

Bushfire wasn't making sense; Basil had clearly accepted the idea of aberrants in not only courting a Mist, but eventually building a nest with one - in becoming a part of her family, aberrants and all. With her opponent flinging arguments that made little sense, Fi was done arguing back. It was only wasted breath better spent driving the invader out of her territory - out of her life.

"GET OUT!" the Mist shrieked, ignoring a rake against her face to strike for the other Sentinel's wing and make it clear that if she didn't fly away now, she might not be flying away at all.

A final shriek was given as she aimed another hit at the Trapper, just barely managing to avoid getting her wing harmed. Some feathers had been caught in the last blow, but nothing serious. Bushfire managed to put a small space between her and the Mist before glaring, "Sending me away isn't going to send your problems away too, you daft fool," the words were cold, filled with obvious resentment as she flapped her wings, taking perch on a branch momentarily, "I don't know why I even bothered; you're obviously as daft as I'd heard you were. If you don't want to see reason, I'm sure you will once the Lawspeaker comes along. Seeing as how the Seekers now know, it's only a matter of time before Basil gets caught."

Bushfire spread her wings, taking care to nurse her wounded side as she did so; this fight hadn't been about defending what was hers, but simply a matter of pride, "You make a FINE match for Basil," she spit out with disdain, obvious that this was an insult, "I'll see you soon enough I wager. Both."

That said, and seeing as how the Trapper wasn't really seeing reason, Bushfire flung herself off her branch. It was true was leaving the territory, but this was not a defeat, for know the Mist knew the truth too. Then again, it wasn't a victory either. She simply wasn't prepared to fight more for the sake of someone she no longer gave a damn about. Let Basil reap what he'd sowed.
