a best friend is also always there to pick you up, but is also there to knock you down when you do something stupid.

A friend will pick you up when you fall. A best friend will trip you repeatedly and then say "Walk much?"

A friend will come visit you when you are in jail. A best friend will be sitting right next to you in the cell saying "Da-- that was fun!"

A friend will tell you that he was no good. A best friend will have a shovel and ask you for a good location to dig a shallow grave.

A good friend will ask what is wrong. A best friend will already know.

A good friend will ask to share your ice cream. A best friend will pour on the chocolate syrup and dig in.

-I've done the first two and the last three of these. No jail so far. I've gone to my friends houses and said 'hello' then walked into the kitchen and made food or sat down at their pianos and started playing or jumped on the computer. We've known each other for six years minimum. It's just the way things are.-
