Lilavati had snuck off from her mother and her siblings. It was early afternoon and she was ready to explore, as always. It was in this way that she was very much like her mother. She enjoyed checking out her new surrounding where ever she went. Lila moved through the grasses looking for bugs to pounce on, it was always fun to catch bugs, but not to eat them. She had tried one once but it was not to her liking.
Lila spotted what she thought was a red bug in the grasses and she stopped looking at it quietly. "I gonna get you buggy," she said softly and began to move forward. She paid no head to the fact that the bug did not really smell like a bug, she was simply to intruiged by the color.

Vere had also snuck away from her family for most of the afternoon. Then again, it wasn't really that hard to sneak away from her siblings or her mother. Her father was the one to watch out for, though. But she had managed to sneak through under his radar and scamper off into the world once more.
She played the shadow game as she walked, crushing the villains of the plants, bugs, herself, a bush, a tree, the flying bird, herself...whatever she could find.
The little cub giggled to herself and started pouncing off a tall rock and onto the ground. The height gave a bit to the thrill of the jump, and the landing below was soft enough for a repeated jump. Once she landed for about the sixth time on the soft grasses, she lay there and caught her breath, looking up at the sky above.

Lila moved closer to the red bug and noticed that it turned into a tuff, then a tail and then legs. Lila ran up to what she was sure was a cub and shouted, "Boo."
Lila laughed and bounced around the cub. "Hi, I'm Lilavati. I'm traveling with my mama to go meet my papa. What's your name?"
Lila stopped in front of the cub and sat down giving the cub a curious look.

She screamed, rolling to her feet and skittering backwards and away from the thing that had frightened the skittish cub so badly.
Then she blinked, realized it was a cub, and moved forward hesitantly.
"I'm Vere," she returned softly. "You don't live with your papa?"

Lila looked at the cub curiously, she had not ment to frighten her that badly, "Sorry," she offered almost immediately, "I really was trying to scare you so bad."
Lila watched the cub move closer to her and smiled. She bounced around Vere after the cub offered up her name. "No, we actually far away from each other. I am really excited to meet him. All the other cubs in the pride had papa's and I always wanted one."
Lila stopped her bouncing and sat in front of Vere, "who knows maybe he will come home with us and he can play with us all the time."

Vere laughed nervously. "I know, I just get scared easily sometimes. Sorry for screaming like that."
Curious. Lila's papa didn't live with her and her family? Then where did her papa live? Did he live all alone? What if Lila's mommy wanted them to have a new papa? What happened then? Vere only had one papa, and she was sure that he would stay.
"My papa lives with me. I have sisters and only two brothers. Do you have any brothers or sisters?"

Lila smiled happily, she did not mind the scream. "Its okay, don't worry about it."
Lila was all to happy to talk about her family, even if she did not have a papa, her family was her favorite subject.
"I have three sister and three brothers. My sisters are Halona, Kitandiko, Nyeupe'almasi and my brothers are Tendaji, Udo'tao and Korrin. I love them all very much. They play with me and keep me warm. I also have a really big pride with lots of adult to watch over all the cubs. Their are tons of us."
"What are you siblings names?"

"I have only two brothers and five sisters!" Vere replied. She thought it would be rather fun to have three of each, but it was okay. She liked her big family. "My brothers are Isu and Nadif. My sisters are Amirah, Talutah, Zinga, Nera, and Kimya." The little red cub unknowingly spoke her siblings' nicknames because she could not really remember their whole first names at the time.
"We aren't in a pride. What's a pride? What's it like?"

"Wow," said Lila, "You have a big family just like mine. It was exciting to meet cubs with as many or even more siblings that she had.
Lila gave a thoughtful look as she tried to think of how to describe a pride. "Its like a group of lion and well other animals too that stay in one place, that is their lands. The hunt with each other, protect each other, and watch each others cub. They even play together and celebrate together, or at least that what my pride is like."
Lila smiled brightly, "I love my pride. I have lots of friends and they are all fun to play with. One of the leaders cub Maha is one a my best friends. She like to explore just like me. My mommy's friend Thili has lots of cub to play with too and they all make sure we keep clean, have enough rest and enough to eat. Its like a big family."

"Oh, that sounds nice. I wonder if my family is in a pride. Or maybe I'll grow up and join one." Vere beamed at Lila. Maybe she would, maybe she wouldn't. The future holds much more complicated things than you would think, want, or expect. But it sounded like fun, to have such a big family. And though she already had one, it would still be interesting. Never a dull moment in a place like that.
"Well, it was nice talking to you, Lila," she said with a smile. "But I think I better go home before my family starts to worry. See you later!" And the cub gave a little wave with her paw, giggling a bit.

"I hope you find the right pride for you if you choose to join one. Maybe you could even join my pride one day. Wouldn't that be fun?" Lila smiled, "Either way, I'm sure you'll have a fun life."
Lila pouted when her new friend said goodbye, but she knew she should get back to her mother too. She was not in the pride and she knew she could get lost or run into someone that wasnt to friendly.
"See you later," Lila said smiling. She turned to go, but then she looked back. "When we find my papa and head back home I'll try to come visit again."
With that Lila giggled and bounded off back to her family.
