Name: Saienrael
Name's Meaning: Two Halves
Original Name: Karelle Chemene Ronaatel
Age: 294 years, 2 months, and approximately 3 days had passed from her birth to her sealing in the Bore now making her 3,294 years old.
Nationality: Cairhienin
Gender: Female
Allegiance: Dark Lord
Occupation: Aes Sedai of the Blue Ajah
Appearance: Saienrael is one person with one soul pledged to the Dark Lord inhabiting two bodies. These two bodies are not mirror images of each other; they are exact copies seeming to be a pair of identical twins. Both bodies have the very same appearance at all times. Having at least a portion of the same soul, they dress the same, exhibit the same characteristics and attitudes, and when the same amount of soul is inserted into both, they often act in unison.
Eyes the color of storm clouds, a slight amount of violet found in dark gray, either pair has the same ability to welcome to exile according to Saienrael’s wish. It only takes one pair of eyes to see her beauty, though. Delicate features of both finely constructed faces greet the world usually with curious indifference. In order to understand fully one’s true intentions, she keeps her appearance as pristine and perfect as she possible can, accentuating what would be deemed beautiful, and hiding what would be called repulsive. Her straight, long, nearly black hair falls to waist when kept down in both cases, no traces of gray to be found. Her skin is pale but not sickly, soft but not sagging. Standing taller than most women, Saienrael is truly the picture of an educated noble.
Still wishing to show her former status as a high-ranking noble, Saienrael still wears the same rich silken clothes as she did in her days as Karelle, each weave proclaiming her former family’s wealth and power. She prefers dark blue dresses to any other color, occasionally having dark-colored jewels sewn into the lighter colored embroideries and trims. Rings litter her fingers on all four hands, mostly rings taken from noble families, one notable ring from a king. Any ring that was originally not present on one hand is replicated for the other. The finest of metals caress the finest of stones across her necks, and black pearls accompany the netting over her hair.
Personality: Saienrael forsakes all emotions in pursuit of knowledge. The collection and most of all the use of knowledge has always been her strongest point. Even before the sealing of the Bore, no one could fathom the depths of Karelle’s mind, making her one of if not, the greatest scholar of her age. Pursuing anything that caught the one emotion she had left, curiosity, she applied herself in many different fields from medicine to entertainment to engineering. She did not claim to know everything, but wished that she did. Taking great pride in her work, she always strived for perfection. Whenever confronted with a theory or a problem that did not fix itself the way it was designed to, she simply scrapped it and started over with her own wisdom. When something of hers did not work, Karelle would betray her sealing off of all emotions and work in a fury until it functioned to its utmost proficiency.
In a world of nothing but suitors left and right asking for her hand in hopes of achieving her glory indirectly, Karelle was neither interested nor repulsed by their advances. If something did not satiate her need for knowledge, she simply moved on to something else. Every fiber of her being was pushed into intellectual pursuits, leaving no room for physical or mental pleasure.
After pledging her broken soul to the Shadow, she grew to hate every inferior human. Now her intellectual pursuits went into not breaking one’s body, but one’s soul, to show them the feeling of one’s soul ripped in half. Saienrael could not actually bend and break a soul, but she could come very close to emulating it with the mind. Knowing the pain of a crushed soul, she wishes all the Dark Lord’s enemies to feel this pain. Her intellectual quests still persist especially after the seal had been broken, wanting to understand this new world and how to break the people in it.
Items: Spies: Mostly nobles who have completely lost their will to defy her, these people have their servants do most of their eavesdropping and report directly to Saienrael regularly. For their reports, they speak in code and act as if visiting a House’s ally or a close friend, too afraid to reveal to anyone what they know. While these men and women of influence and sometimes regular stature know that Saienrael is not someone to be trifled with, she has kept her true identity a secret.
Weapons: Two Rapiers: One for each vessel. Part of her education as a noble in her life as Karelle Chemene was training with a sword. She realizes that this the activity of sword fighting is a physical one. However, she also knows that it is just as much a mental one. Since shirking all emotions, she can react swiftly to her opponents' attacks and issue effective strikes when necessary. Strategy is needed in close battles just as in directing spies.
Talents: Intelligence: Saienrael was known in her own time and this one for her amazing intelligence. Even though her soul is constantly balanced between two bodies, either body exhibits a huge wealth of knowledge and the capacity to apply it. Surpassing even the most learned scholars and eventually instructing instructors, Saienrael’s mind is constantly moving. Other Forsaken go to her for knowledge of the world they might have overlooked. In having two bodies, she has found that her knowledge increases much faster.
Mental Torture: Having experience in a broken mind and soul, Saienrael inflicts this pain onto others who have deemed themselves enemies to the Shadow. Unless the victim's will is completely broken, she is not satisfied. In this, she excels in mind tricks and words such as illusions woven with the One Power that perhaps makes the person think they are in a room whose walls are slowly enclosing them. These kinds of illusions go so far as to emulate the effects the presented images should have, such as thinning of air and the silence of being truly alone. These tactics are used over time and can either gradually change a person to be her pawn or crush them in an instant.
History: Karelle Chemene was born to a very wealthy and powerful noble family in the land that would eventually come to be known as Cairhien. Being very spoiled and never having to lift a finger, she was allowed much time to ponder many different things. Her parents, whose names are lost to her now as with many other names of supposed loved ones, attempted to involve her in as many social situations with children of her own age as possible, but she found no joy in it or anything else offered to her for that matter. The only thing that really entranced her was knowledge. Thought itself. Many of her small contemporaries did not understand this and proceeded to ridicule her. She, however, felt no emotion from this, either. The only thing that actually instilled anything remotely close to emotion, she found, was when she embraced Saidar. And even that did not satisfy her.
Once old enough to leave her home, having bested all her tutors in their respective subjects, she opted to hone her skills in the One Power, hoping this would give her more access to knowledge. In this, she could have her full potential in the One Power. After applying this, she entered the White Tower, excelling in all subjects and breezing through the test to become Accepted, she discovered she had a surprising gift for the element of Spirit and a slightly less but no less surprising gift for the element Water. After being raised to Aes Sedai after seven yers in the Tower in total, she took the Blue shawl. Most everyone expected her to take the White for her incredible mind or Brown for her wealth of knowledge. However, the Blue Ajah moved more, and movement was necessary in her quest.
During her years as an Aes Sedai, two major things occurred that drove her to the Shadow. The first was her meeting with Lews Therin. She simply met him in passing down a hall one day after earning her third name, but she could tell he was headed for great things. Knowing this, and wanting to know more about him, she grew close to his close friend, Milosh Casanth. The young male Aes Sedai seemed attracted to her for all she could tell which suited her purposes. He acted as a Restorer of the Yellow Ajah and revelled in his own happiness when Karelle showed interest in his work. He attempted to woo her from time to time, but she always put it off. However, she was able to get to know Lews Therin more than she would have if she hadn't associated herself with Milosh. This association also led to the second thing and perhaps the most important and driving thing that led her to the Shadow.
On that day, Milosh approached the now dubbed Karelle Chemene Ronaatel and asked her to assist him in his newest research project. He informed her that while he would do better with a team, he was unsure all twelve of the others would accept his theory and that her strength in Water and Spirit were essential to this. Agreeing to help, Karelle followed him to an empty room where he explained that he wanted to make a fully functional human body with the One Power, using both saidar an saidin and that he wanted to make the body a complete replica of her to pledge his undying love for her. While she would never reciprocate his feelings, she agreed to this anyway. After exhausting hours of channeling every single element, working from the inside out. Finally, at the end of it, Milosh was supposed to tie off his weave of Spirit at the same time she did to keep the organs functioning and running as they should, but he tied off his weave before she did. While she still embraced saidar, her soul recognized her body as being in front of her and proceeded to jump for it. Screaming in agony, she quickly tied off the weave before her whole soul had escaped and fell to th ground in a heap, tears streaming down her face as she was wracked with unimaginable pain both physically and mentally. Milosh ran to her aid and while he did, the copy of Karelle began to berate him with reasons why he should have followed their plan, and after a while of this, he found that the original was actually doing the same at exactly the same time. Desperate for something to do, he dressed the second Karelle and took them both to Lews Therin, but he could not repair the damage. For weeks, Karelle writhed in her pain and cursed Milosh and Lews Therin both for being incomptent fools. Finally numb to the pain, she decided the best way to end this would be to give her soul to the Shadow in hopes of bettering this.
Arriving at Shayol Ghul, she was accepted by the Dark Lord and given complete control over her own soul in regards to the newly added body. She could put as much of her soul in whichever body she wished. The more soul that entered a body, the more it functioned as a full soul. In exchange for this, she had to serve the Shai'Tan unquestionably which she accepted wholeheartedly. She made sure that everyone she encountered not already inked to the Dark One was made that way, or if not, they were tortured to the point of madness, leaving an empty shell.
It took Lews Therin two tries to seal the now aptly named Saienrael into the Bore. He had successfully sealed her Power-wrought body, but she transferred most of her soul into her original body, leaving more for him to contend with. How dare he think he could simply throw her away like a piece of garbage just because he could not repair her and the Dark Lord could? After finally being fully sealed into the Bore, she spent 3,000 years hating Lews Therin and wishing to get back to her duties.
Currently, one of her bodies is posing as a wealthy Cairhienin woman. She chooses not to be a noble, knowing that no one would recognize her. However, she is allowed entrance into the Sun Palace and has noted that one, Prince Alexander, is a male channeler. A rather powerful one at that. Her other body now resides in Shienar close to the Blight and close to the Shienaran king, slowly feeding her words into his psyche.
