Siamese Fighting Fish

Scientific name:Betta Splenden
Size: Average 6 Cm/ 2.5 Inches.
Temperature: Between 76-80 degrees. Colder temperatures can make them lethargic.
pH: 6.8-7

Diet: Primarily Carnivorous. In wild they eat Plankton, Blood worms, and other larve. Feed lots of frozen treats
Behavior: Agressive. They CANNOT be kept with other's of their species, or any fish that looks too similar. Will puff out their gills, as a warning before they start to attack.
Note: Siamese fighting fish have a labyrinth organ in their heads that allows them to take oxygen directly from the atmosphere in addition to the oxygen taken from water via their gills. Betta can DROWN if they cannot reach the surface, keep in shallow water. Male and Females vary heavily in appearance. Females have small more slender bodies, mails are wider and have long beautiful tails. BUBBLENESTERS.

Drawf Gourami

Scientific name:Colisa Lalia
Size: 2 inches (5 cm)
Temperature: Between 72-82 F (22-28 C)
pH: 6.0-7.5

Diet: Omnivoire. Eats Algae and plants, as well as the occasional frozen treat. Brine shrimp, Blood worms, etc.
Behavior: Mostly peaceful. Can be violent when around too many of it's own species.
Note: Like the Betta, it can breath air. Make sure that it is not in too deep of water. Ten gallon tank MINIMUM for growth requirements. Males of this species tend to be a bit larger and usually have bright orange-red bodyes and blue vertical stripes. BUBBLENESTERS

Kissing Gourami

Scientific name:Helostoma temminckii
Size: 6-10 inches
Temperature: 72-82 F (22-28 C)
pH: 6.8-8.5

Diet: Omnivore, eats most foods. Likes plants and the occasional frozen treat.
Behavior: Semi-aggressive. Not to be kept with many of their own species. 'Kissing' behavoir is actually shows of dominance, and fighting.
Note: Fleshy 'lips' have rows of teeth inside which are used for eating and fighting. Like all Labyrinth fish, they have a gland which allows them to get oxygen from the air. Must be kept in a minimum of thirty gallons to deter agression. They, do not build elaborate bubble nest, Instead their eggs float to the surface adhering to things along the way. Males and females have no visible distinction.

Pearl Gourami

Scientific name:Trichogaster leeri
Size: 4 inches (10 CM)
Temperature: 74-82 F (22-28 C)
pH: 6.5-8.5

Diet: Omnivore. EATS anything and everything small enough to fit in it's mouth.
Behavior: Peaceful. Great in Community tanks.
Note: Males of this species are more slender and have longer, beautiful fins. They are very gentle, and tend to work well with smaller fish, though, will eat their own young more often then not. BUBBLENESTERS.
