Is there ever a 'right age' to have children and when do our baby years expire? It's been said that it's different for men and women. As some men have children up until their senior years

Recently though, and this thread's topic. Women, Birth and Age. With new technologies like Invitro fertilization, there are now women who give birth into their late 50s and 60s. The oldest woman to give birth that I have heard of was 67 and gave birth to twins.

Is this fair to the child? Is their birth a selfish act of a parent wanted to reclaim their youth? How long would a child really have with their parent then? How will they do when their wonderful dream baby becomes a teenager?

What would you think of someone who was say 55 giving birth? Would your feeling change if were a woman in her 60s? What do you think about giving birth in your later years?

My parents had me when they were 40. And 42ish with my sister.
I think it's kind of a big age gap, but they did way better than they did the first time. They just weren't really down to earth and seemed distant thinking about it.

I don't want anymore kids after I'm 30. Hell, I don't even want anymore now but I know the wife might.

I really think 45ish is a good time to stop having kids. I think someone who wants to be a parent or their kids are grown and gone, they should be foster parents or adopt.

I don't think it's fair to the child. The 67 year old new mother ... if she lives to be 80, the kids will be 13. I would think that would put the children through a lot of pain and suffering.

Personally, I wouldn't have a baby once I get past 35 tops. One, because it's dangerous to give birth at later ages. And two, I want to be able to keep up with my babies physically. My Mom is around 50 and I can't imagine her having a baby at this point. It would just be too much toll for her body and mind. Right now, she just needs to relax and enjoy having almost grown up kids.

I don't know when the "right" time to start having kids is. I guess when the pair decides for themselves. But I feel there is a good time to stop having kids and that is when you are reaching the years where you can't keep up with a child. It isn't fair to a child to have elderly parents, in poor health, and what not who aren't even going to live to see them graduate high school. It saddens me. Just because you can have a kid at 50 doesn't mean you should. IMO.
