Moto couldn't help but be in good spirits tonight. The pride was still safe for now, life was bursting within it, and the moon was full and bright. The large golden lioness sat near the well where their little river originated, orange-amber eyes closed as she just enjoyed the heartbeat of the pride around her. The stamp of paws, the laughter of cubs, the slight whoosh of wind through the grass, the voices of the adults doing their jobs.
It made her proud and content, hearing those sounds. Was this how every pride leader felt? Did they all see each pride member as their own family, their own blood?

Kaimel was anxious as he approached the well near Moto, but then again he was almost always anxious. He was only ever at ease when he was at his sister's side, which he was more often than not. But on those rare occasions when he ventured from the safety of Kaimelar's side, he was always on edge. Sometimes he wondered if they really were twins, even if they hadn't been born one after the other. They looked alike, more alike than any of their other siblings...

The soft sound of paws nearby had Moto cracking an eye open. Curious, she looked down and smiled. It was one of the newest cubs, one of Ka and Far's. Though it was strange to see him without his sister. She chuckled and opened her eyes full. "Exploring on your own tonight, Kaimel?" Being the Mwezi, Moto made it a habit to learn the names and appearance of all in the pride...especially those she helped usher into the dark world they lived in.

"Getting a drink, Miss Moto!" Kaimel said, awkwardly leaning down in an attempt to get a drink and look as big and noble as possible. It was rather comical, really. Even though he was shy and anxious, he wanted to make his parents proud. So he tried his best to look strong and proud when he was around Moto or Serithi.

The lioness nodded. Watching Kai reminded her of Enzi almost...trying his best, but not quite getting there. But it was an admirable trait, nonetheless. She shifted and lay down, so she wasn't quite so 'big'. "You know...no need to tense over water. It's the one common ground all things have, where we needn't worry about how we look. Even demons must drink, and they look no more or less normal than we do when we drink." She would know. Matter of fact, her sister looked half-way personable when she drank.

After he was done drinking, he turned to look at Moto curiously. The idea of a demon looking exactly like him as he drank... Still all awkward and stumbly cause he hadn't grown into his legs yet. He couldn't help but smile and laugh lightly. "Really?"

Moto chuckled and nodded. "Really. I saw one often when I was younger, and she drank just like I did. Especially when we were both little cubs still growing." It was when Hakuna HADN'T been drinking at a watering hole that Moto had had cause to worry growing up. "They want you to think otherwise...but they are not all powerful beings. They can feel pain and embarrassment, just as we do."

"So they're not always big and scary and mean?" Kaimel asked, wonder in his red eyes as he gazed up at Moto, who even compared to a normal cub was so much bigger than he was.

Moto shook her head. "Some can be very nice. Those ones are the reason we have Halisisha. We keep those who are good from following the same path as those we hunt." When the young one was old enough, Moto would tell of her own blood...she would do so with every one of the pride's cubs. It was not a blood she was proud of...but better to accept it rather than let it be used against her.

"So... Not all demons are bad?" Kaimel asked, even more wondrous now. The idea that not all demons were horrible vicious creatures was amazing to him.

Moto nodded. "That's right. There are a few good ones. Some of them may one day become allies to us...they might be able to help us fight the bad demons better." Spies...that is what the pride lacked. Spies among the demons. She would have to try and remedy that one day soon...

"As I said...they are few, but they exist." She closed her eyes again. "The potentional for good and evil is the same in them as in us. But most demons are raised to embrace the evil. Some, however, are not raised by other demons and so they have the same chance to embrace good as we do."

Moto chuckled, eyes open now. "Yes. But until you are older, who they are remains a secret. Unless they wish to tell you. We all want you to grow up to see every pride member for who they are, not what they are." It was important to know how to judge someone on their character, not their birth.
