I thought the idea of waking up yelling from a nightmare was pretty strange and impossible in real life.
But it happened to me three times already, like once each week for the past three weeks...
The first dream was that my sister and I went on I errand for my mom, and we were about to get inside my house. Then these people with loud music came by on a car, and we hid in the abandoned house beside mine. They came and took my sister, and then I saw one of them look at me and that's when I yelled.
My sister woke up. She was like "WTF? Why did you yell?" and went back to sleep in a few minutes.
In the second dream, my mother and I were coming back home (very late at night...well, late for such a dangerous city as mine), and we were on the front door, when strange people quite like the ones in the previous dream came by. One of them came out from the car, and then took out a gun...I tried to close the door on him, but he chased my mother inside the house.
Again, someone looked at me, and once again I yelled. This time my voice didn't come out though (because I'm sick), so I woke up no one.
The third dream was...strange, to say the least. I was in a very tall place, like a castle tower; it was surrounded by beautiful forests I had never seen before. Well, I was happily talking with these people... I could talk to them as if I'd known them all my life, but they were not familiar to me. Nevertheless, I was sure had seen them and talked to them before, but it was just a memory my mind had pushed away.
Well, one of this nice looking people took me apart from whatever happy event was going on at the top of the tower. When he was talking to me, I turned away to look at the forests, and then I felt his hand on my shoulder. Then I was pushed off the tower. I grabbed on to something and asked help...someone took one of my hands, then the other, and then released them both. ._.
I could see the faces of all these people smiling as he did so. I woke up as I fell, but incredibly my yelling woke up no one.
So...what do you think? The first two seem to me like I'm becoming paranoid, with the recent murders and assaults going on where I live...
But the third one? I don't get it. ._.
I no longer want to sleep at night. Only at night I get nightmares, but if I don't sleep, I keep on hearing strange noises...

I've had pretty bad sleep/nightmare/dark/thingscreepingaroundatnight-phobias.
Like panic attacks every night, not being able to leave my room after dark even to pee, being terrified of going to sleep and having dreams with bad things you can't control. But when you're awake since you're paranoid you're afraid bad things are everywhere and you can't look behind you or out your window or anything.
I still am horribly afraid of the dark and almost always sleep with the light on, but I can usually go to sleep. I've been loving sleep lately. Now, of course, I'm going to have a HELL of a time going to sleep tonight because of this. Was just about to go to sleep but now I remember to be scared.
Anyway, eventually you'll accept that you need to sleep and just forget about it most of the time.

...now, I hadn't thought of turning on my lamp at night. Thanks for that!
OMG, I ttly know how you feel. gonk
Like, I have a nightmare, I wake up, and I get scared by every little sound or movement. D:

I once had a screamer dream. It was pitch black then, suddenly, a zombie came out of nowhere screamed for three seconds before I woke up. I spent the night frozen in fear. (I also have the habit of shutting the closet before I go to sleep.)
My sister/roommate talks in her sleep. Which is equally creepy.
Other than that, I have really good dreams.

My sister once saw a girl, she said she looked like me, but a bit older. She was also prettier, and she was dressed in a blue night gown.
The girl showed her something, my sister said it was pretty, and then went back to sleep. Next morning, she asked me what I had shown her, and I was like..."WUT?!"
Yeah.

I get sleepy when I drink coffee or tea. Warm things get me really sleepy.
And cold things get me sick. gonk
So, no caffeine for me to keep me from sleeping.
