So much despair? But why? There was a time when they thrived. Hundreds. Thousands. Billions.
But while they struggled for peace, their very nature was the opposite. They destroyed. They took their weapons, and killed. Death everywhere. And when they could not kill any more of the natives, they killed each other. They formed sides, factions. They fought until... One faction used the Weapon. The Weapon provoked more Weapons to be used, until their cities were ruins, populated with survivors.
And all we did... was watch...
They took our land from us. Wanted it, coveted it. Enough to stab each other in the back for it. They killed us. Not all of us, but most of us...
And they are still not done. They still fight. They still die. their cities are wrecks, but the soldiers fight still. They fight alone, they fight together, they fight with weapons, they fight with machines. but still they fight.
All we can ask is... Why? Why do they fight? Why do they kill us? Why do they kill each other? Why? -Last entry in a computer found in Velk ruins.

Story Humanity has always been a warring people. They build vast cities, and then fight each other. It has always been so. however, they usually don't go so far as to encite mutually assured destruction. The Velk are a peaceful people. the only thing they believe in is life and knowledge. they are, sadly, poor fighters. Humanity almost wiped them out from their actions. The last Velk have used their natural shapshifting to mimic human forms, and observe from within human society... only detectable by their lack of opinion or powerful emotions... other than sadness and joy. However, on the world of Kelthos, Humanity found out a rare compound that was present in mass quantities. this compound was incredibly rare, and could plate starships with an armor that would make them immune to energy fire. This find was so valuable, war broke out. It was the fanatical Kelthos Brotherhood that launched the first fusion bomb. The cult destroyed the capital city of Mylia. The country retaliated by attacking the Brotherhood's HQ in Gala, wiping out the cult once and for all, but sparking a world war of fusion bombs. Now the once-great nations are mere factions of military power. Operating from reinforced firebases, they set out each day in their machines to patrol their territory. They return at nightfall to avoid being attacked by the Things. A species of mutated creatures that feed off meat. Humans are meat... Survivors aren't well off. They fight each day to live, salvaging what they can to build strongholds in the buildings that still stand. Survivors avoid the patrols from fear. The more experienced survivors claim a territory, and are able to offer aid to other survivors... or refuse it. The Velk, long since thought extinct, still walk the planet. they are sad... they record the events, their appearance is like that of the humans before the world became a desolate place. At night the Velk return to the Tunnels, an ancient underground system the Velk built as a secondary home for travelers.

FactionsNether LegionPossibly the most advanced of the factions. A remnant of the Mylia Army, they control a depot of hovering tanks. Soldiers in this faction sport SWAT armor. The Nether Legion works every day to clear rubble and rebuild. Nether Legion takes any survivors they find to the Irregulars. Mylia IrregularsFormerly the police force of the great city. The Irregulars operate alongside the Nether Legion. The Irregulars will not attack survivors, and will offer aid, shelter, and food (most survivors think this is too good to be true and run away.) The Irregular leaders wear the old police uniforms, but any newcomers usually get a set of normal clothes and a bulletproof vest. Irregulars are the only faction that accepts Survivors into it. Any Survivors joining receive training. The Irregulars have a large supply of Airborne Enforcement units. (They also have an airborne ambulance.) Gala Armed ForcesA mockery of the original, the Armed forces sports ATVs, and often speeds into Mylia to attack the Legion and Irregulars. Their main strength is speed and mobility, and they believe the war never really ended. Gala Armed Forces will attack survivors. Gala sports green military fatigues. Gala's base is a factory complex with concrete walls and guard towers. Altean Drop LegionFrom the mountain fortesses of Altea, a third country that was devastated, the former army united quickly. the ADL is an elite organization that focuses on securing resources to rebuild their own country. the ADL often engages against Gala, the Irregulars and the Nether Legion in their struggle for dominance over the factions. The ADL does not have uniforms, but the entire ADL wears warm clothing for cold climates. the ADL has a squadron of dropships for their troops. SurvivorsThese people live in the massive ruins and fight the Things on a daily basis. They fight for their lives, dodging patrols from all factions, (even though Mylia and Nether are friendly) Survivors who are lucky to find fallen soldiers are able to take the guns from them before others do. VelkMembers of a supposedly dead race. They appear human, yet aren't. Velk go unnoticed by the Things, and are mistaken as ghosts by the Survivors. Velk are armed with strange weapons that appear when they want them too, such as swords, knives, and staves, but Velk only fight in self-defense.

Okay, Here are the rules! 1. No godmoding. 2. No cybering. 3. Romance is allowed, but don't expect much in this crazy place... 4. If you've read all the rules, you put a wahmbulance in your PM to me. 5. Literacy is required. 6. There are androids, cyborgs, and robots, they just belong to a faction other than the Velk. 7. Multiple characters are allowed and encouraged.
Factions have rules to follow too.
Nether Legion: 1. Do not shoot at survivors unless they're trying to kill you. 2. Gala Armed forces and ADL are the enemy. you trust the Mylia Irregulars. 3. Return to the firebase at dusk, or else your faction will consider you dead. 4. The firebase is a full-blown military installation of massive preportions. You will not 'run out' of gear to equip and you can afford to lose equipment.
Mylia Irregulars: 1. Do not shoot survivors unless they're trying to kill you. 2. Offer aid to suvivors and support Nether Legion. 3. Return to the Airport at Dusk, or else you will be considered dead to your faction. 4. There are too many supplies for this faction. members of it can be fully equipped easily. Don't worry about losing weaponry or gear.
Gala Armed Forces: 1. You have an ATV. it is yours, nobody elses'. Take good care of it... or don't... 2. Anyone who's not in Gala, you shoot! 3. You can choose to stay out at night, but it's MUCH more dangerous. 4. Lady Miku has your loyalty. 5. The factory also produces guns. you can lose your weapons without worry.
Altean Drop Legion: 1. You have a parachute and a call beacon at all times. 2. Anyone who isn't ADL is an enemy. 3. Press the call beacon at dusk and hold position. a dropship will need to pick you up before nightfall. if you can't, they'll try to get your dog tags next morning twisted 4. Your weapons are limited. Losing them will cause you to suffer punishment.
Survivors: 1. You need to find everything other than your knife/dagger. (you can find a rifle on a corpse your first post if you want...) 2. Factions scare you. when they come, you hide. If they find you, you can attack or cower in fear. You know how to avoid the Things. 3. Find a stronghold before night falls, otherwise you'll be torn apart. 4. You know the layout of the land better than any faction, other than the Velk...
Velk 1. Your weapons are a part of you, you shun firearms. 2. You follow Factions AND survivors, and you can choose to blend in with them when not recording. 3. The tunnels are your safe haven, and you can find an entrance anywhere you can find a patch of grass or dirt. 4. The Things will ignore you. NIGHT IS SAFE!

Current state:
The Nether Legion has cleared a path through the rubble. Their firebase is untouched and serves a small town.
The Mylia Irregulars have many vehicles and equipment, but hardly any people. This has led the Mylia irregulars to go on manhunts in the city rubble for Survivors at day and night. this, naturally is dangerous, so night partols are aircraft only.
The Gala Armed forces, led by Lady Miku, have launched all out war on the Nether Legion. The hit and run tactics are successful, but Miku seems to be having a personal vendetta against the Nether Legion...
General Gerrard Landrey leads the Altean Drop Legion as they steal from the ruins to rebuild their country. His designs have led to the reconstruction of the moutain fortress network Altea had built.
The Survivors in Mylia City have only three strongholds. one is a former hospital called The Infirmary, another is a school known as The Center, and the last stronghold is a bank called The Vault.
The Velk currently have an interest in Mylia City, and have been seen recording in places no human can reach.

Information file on the Things.
The Things are remnants of the local fauna that have been distorted by the fusion bomb fallout (which did not affect the humans.) The mutant creatures consumed their untainted species. The Things are carnivorous and nocturnal. small ones range from the size of a pony, to the size of a mammoth. they have an armor-like hide, almost an exoskeleton. These creatures are quiet and attack their prey without warning. A single Thing matches an Nether Legion tank's armor.
Common methods, by faction to get rid of an attacking Thing:
NL- Concentrated fire from two or more tanks. (20 seconds to kill)
MI- Concentrated fire from seven enforcement units. (1 minute to kill)
GAF- RPG fire or anti-tank missiles. hit and run on ATVs (40 seconds to kill)
ADL - Concentrated fire from three dropships (30 seconds to kill)
Survivors- Ambush attack by fifty people with blades and guns. (1-3 hours to kill)
Velk- No method.

Robots, Cyborgs, and Androids.
Before the war, robots were mass-produced in all three countries. Often either a weapon of war or a friendly helper, the robots left behind today are either in disrepair or malfunctioning (Survivors). The ones that aren't belong to one of the militant factions.
Cyborgs are people augmented with machinery. They are stronger than regular humans and live longer. Cyborgs can be survivors, or a soldier for one of the militant factions. Cyborgs, however, will run down over time.
Androids are robots that mimic humans, and may have a 'brain' based off a human mind. Androids were usually used as lab aides and soldiers. Androids are a bit less durable than the robots, and will belong to one of the militant factions.
