I'm curious to find out everyones opinion on this topic. Some say it is, some say it's not.
My sister and I are both lesbians.. my friends a lesbian and so is her mother and then when you look at people like Tegan and Sara who are also both lesbians, it's interesting to know if it's a biological thing or not.
I've skimmed over some info in Wiki but it was too science-y for me.. so just a general opinion??

It's biological in that it is use as a person who has attraction to others, whether same or different gender. Religion has no purpose in sexuality, and never should. Neither should government. Both of them have no control over your mind, only you do. We evolve, no matter who says what on the matter for the public. We may not seem to do so physically anymore, being as complex now as we are, but our minds continue to progress. When humanity was young, we had lots of hair, now we have it only in certain areas. When we were stupid, we killed because someone took your lunch. Only a couple hundred years ago, we were blind to thinking the color of skin defined species. At this point, our minds are what define us more than appearance. We no longer just lust to mate as our ancestors did, but to communicate and gain knowledge, to care for others than ourselves, and to love who we love. If someone choses to remain blind or stupid, on the old ways of our species, then we just hope they will win the Darwin Award someday to better our species for the future. Reliving our ancestors ways is not our way, we have to live our own path. Darwin Awards

gah! tegan and sara!!! heart heart heart sorry, i had to do that, i'm an uber fan xD
but yea, there has been research that there may be a chromosome in one's DNA that causes homosexuality. there's a lot of controversy about it though, i was doing research on it, so i can look for more info on that if you want it.
i was also reading a book about the mind and how it works and stuff, and there seems to be some neurological activities involved with homosexuality as well. there's a lot wired into people that shows that they are gay naturally. basically, it is embedded in a person from birth. again, i was really curious about this myself, and since i love to study into the psychology of homosexuality, i have stuff on it, and i can get you more info if you need it =]

Yeah I heard/read that there could be a thing regarding DNA or a certain little something in some of our minds.. like if *blank* is *blank* then it's because you're a homosexual. I know I don't make sense.. but yeah lol.

I know I don't make sense.. but yeah lol. cool. i'll look for some more studies, and maybe talk to my AP biology teacher about it. i've been meaning to buy a psychology book on homosexuality, anyway. i'm kinda considering it as a career? i dunno x] lol, but how cool would it be if i could study how and why my brain works a certain way? lol, i love it though, cos i can always just do the research and stuff, and still have another career or something. lol, randomm, my bad.
yea, the chromosomal thing is in the DNA =] the reason it's controversial is cos people could use that to possibly influence abortions- imagine all the homophobes that would have an abortion cos they don't want a gay kid. =[ and the neurological aspect is awesome. like, i think there was a thing where they said one of the genders is more likely to be homosexual or something, cos of the brain's makeup? i dunno, but the science of it all is uber rad. =] i need to check some stuff out though, some of the studies may be outdated? i mean, up until some time ago, it was considered a mental illness, and there's new breakthroughs all the time in it, it's really neat. and i totally get you, you make sense. that's the kinda thing i say and ppl are like O.e whaaaat? lol

This point --> "imagine all the homophobes that would have an abortion cos they don't want a gay kid." really frustrates me! Urgh, I'm against abortion unless it is for a good reason. But to have one just because the child they raise could be gay? Deary me! See normally I'm completely against learning about science because I hate it.. but certain points in this whole topic interest me. Even though sometimes I tune out when big words come up I still find it interesting. Doing as a career would be mad if you could do it, I think a lot of people would be really into hearing about it. I heard about the 'mental illness' thing, and I found it also ridiculous! It's like saying that from a gay person's perspective, being straight is a sickness.

I heard about the 'mental illness' thing, and I found it also ridiculous! It's like saying that from a gay person's perspective, being straight is a sickness. i know, but it's a reality, and it really upset me. i mean, people are very stubborn sometimes, and i would never see myself doing that if i was going to have a straight child or something. not that they would believe it, cos some people believe that we want to "convert" everyone. preposterous.
yea, i struggle with science sometimes, and it gets really frustrating. yea, i mean, i'd love to be able to do something that can help people. i know that i would have loved someone to talk to about this in the beginning. and yea, sometimes the people that aren't sure what they think about it can change their mind if they understand it better. yea, i guess that's another part of not understanding. people saw it as odd that someone would be attracted to the same sex, so they automatically labeled it as a glitch, a disease.
