Thoth had been away from home for quite some time now. He wasn't sure how long it had been exactly, but he knew he only had had a limited amount of success so far. He had found Namir and directed him home, he had found Vikesh and Otieno (much to his delight) and directed them home as well. He continued to search, his mind rolling over the names of those he had yet to find. Nyota-Kiania, Dyst, Chitheka'ama.. ama.. something. Who knew if he would ever find them now. He could barely remember Chitheka's full name, and he was the head guard, Thoth's boss. But then, he had to wonder if he'd ever really known it all, it was one long name.
Trying to keep his spirits up, he'd gone for something he was more successful at- hunting. He was no master but in his time wandering around he had become much better at hunting small prey beasts by himself, just enough to get him by. He'd thinned out in his time wandering, he was looking more and more like a rogue the longer he wandered. But he had to keep going, for the pride, for those that were lost.

Kinagiri had gone off to hunt, separate from her companion Jino. He was helpful, but sometimes it was nice to hunt without his help. She'd been aimed in the right direction to find food, that was all she needed from him. However, she wasn't much in the mood for hunting. She was hungry, but rather than hunt she often enjoyed getting someone else to do it for her. It was one of few things she traded fortunes for, but she needed to find someone who would be willing to trade with her. Jino knew this about her, though, so part of her expected to come across something or someone soon.
Walking along calmly and quietly, the scent of a strange lion and a fresh kill filled her nose. She couldn't see the source with either vision ability she had, but she followed her nose until she spotted the blue and purple lion. With a smirk, she approached carefully. She could not know if this would mean trouble for her, but she was going to take a chance.

Thoth was unaware of the company he was in for, and instead was focusing his attention on getting his meal somewhere comfortable. It was a nice afternoon, the sun was high and bright and he was in a good location for when he wanted to see the moon at night- but he was looking for a bit of shade and could see a couple trees not far off. Glancing around a bit, the green lioness did eventually catch his eye- but he didn't think much of her presence at first. Often he saw lions pass by, and usually he would stop and ask about the lions he was looking for but this was clearly not one of them and he was, well, occupied.
He would have kept going if it didn't become very clear very quickly that she was heading right for him. So Thoth stopped, set down his catch and watched carefully. He was definitely the type who would share his meal, but more so if he was asked nicely and it wasn't stolen. He knew it was a possible reason to approach a stranger.
"Hello," he called carefully.

Not wanting to appear as an outright threat, Kinagiri made sure there was some distance between her and the colorful lion. She wasn't a fighter, she was barely a huntress, so she wasn't looking for a fight. No, she looked look for a trade. She just had to figure out what was the best way to go about it.
"Hello," she said politely, "I'm Kinagiri."
She started with an introduction, figuring someone intending to cause harm would not introduce themselves outright unless they were in for mind games (which was more like her, of course). And it was the best way to get the conversation going. She paused a moment, reaching out for a vision that might help her understand the lion better. She left it up to him to introduce himself, though.

Good-natured Thoth didn't have any idea about mind games, and let his guard down just enough to appear much more amicable. After all, he was a very friendly lion by nature. He was serious about his job, and had held his own through the war but he was happiest when he didn't have to be so.. well, paranoid and mean.
"Pleasure to meet you Kinagiri, I'm Thoth," he introduced himself with equal politeness, tilting his head, "Do you need something?" He expected that perhaps she was still here about his food, or perhaps she needed some other kind of help. That was why he approached so many strangers in the past, he never really had just come up to someone for a regular friendly chat.

Kina couldn't help but grin. He knew something was up, that was evident. She couldn't say why, or know exactly what she needed to say so she worked from experience now. She took a small step closer, closing the space between them and making a point of not looking at the food laying beside Thoth.
"Perhaps," she said, toning down her smile a bit, "I was wondering the same of you. You see, I am a fortune teller of sorts. I can see the future, your future, and- for a price- I might be willing to share some information, answer some questions."
Desperately now, she tried to find something she could use to gain his trust, something to get his interest. This wasn't going to work if she didn't have something ready, this is why she and Jino often functioned best as a team. She also had to remain alert in case this offer was poorly received, but taking a chance it wouldn't be she let her focus wander and she searched for information about Thoth.

Thoth was a religious lion, he was not completely closed to the idea of strange things like fortune telling, of someone being able to see the future. He had no idea just how much experience he had had with a seer, though. His best friend, former best friend, had been a seer. He'd been scared off by visions of the war. If anything, he thought this was a really interesting way to get to his food. He was rather willing to play along just to see what she said.
"For a price?" he repeated with a chuckle, "What kind of price are you looking for?"

The moon. The moon stood out very clearly in every vision she conjured up about him. It was important to him, where he was from and where he was going. He was a part of a pride, that was very clear. But he was not with them, that gave her something to work from. She was getting somewhere, and that was encouraging. He also had not immediately rejected her, that was another encouraging fact.
"I happen to be looking for a meal," she answered honestly, still not looking to the kill at his feet, "But perhaps you could use some convincing. Give me a moment and I could be more specific, but you are a pride lion despite being so far from home and having the look of a rogue. And the moon, the moon is very important."

Ah, so she was after his kill.
At least he knew, now. She was very amusing, though. Or so he thought, until she mentioned that he was a pride lion far from home and the moon. Then she was rather convincing. Or perhaps he was gullible, but he doubted he'd asked so many lions about those he was looking for that he was well known. And she definitely didn't look like she was a member of the Mwezi'Johari that he knew, and if she was a new member he'd never met well.. now would be the time she'd laugh at him and yell "gotcha!"
But she didn't, and he considered. This would be worth a meal to ask some questions maybe.
"OK," he said, "But you have to tell me what I'm doing so far from home, and how it's going."

She could have grinned when he agreed, pleased to be getting along so well on her own. She nodded when he gave specifics, and looked to his paws thoughtfully, her focus seeming to shift around, in and out, as she looked for answers.
"You've moved," she said, a dizzying blur of images going through her mind of the war, the traveling and then she took a moment to sort through who was home, who he'd found and who he was looking for, "You're looking for them, the ones.."
She trailed off, and wobbled for a moment before looking back up and taking a moment to steady her feet and her thoughts.
"You've found three, two brown and one blue," she said, "You're looking for the others."

He wasn't sure yet if Namir, Otieno and Vikesh had made it home yet but he doubted it with his leaving Otieno and Vikesh so recent. And she did not use names, perhaps she did not know that. Thoth let himself be convinced, at least willing to take something from this. Maybe this was what he wanted, something to encourage him, to tell him to keep going despite his growing urge to return home. So whether or not this was true, he wanted to believe it- and that was what mattered.
"The others, Nyota, Dyst, Chitheka," he paused, looking hopefully at the green lioness, "Where are there? How can I find them?"

"No," she said, shaking her head sadly. She could tell he was a nice enough lion, even just from how he had reacted to her. Everything she saw about him supported it, and she felt bad to be the one to have to say he wasn't going to succeed. Or, she had to appear that way. She wasn't likely to see this lion ever again, she was only looking for a meal. She could feel sorry for him wasting all this time, though.
"You won't find them," she said finally, "It's time for you to go home, Thoth."

Thoth's face fell when she said no. It wasn't what he wanted to hear in the least. He wanted encouragement, but the fact it wasn't what he wanted to hear almost made it sound more true. Which made him more frustrated about it. He was an optimist, he was dedicated, he didn't want to be told now was the time to give up.
"No," he replied, shaking his head, "That's not right, I'll find them."

Kinagiri sighed, shaking her head ever so slightly. He wouldn't believe her right now, he wouldn't give up. There was something else, something she wasn't saying- something she didn't fully seek out the explanation to. He would go home, but he would not be alone. She was not wrong, but that was unimportant.
"You've heard your fortune," she said, straightening up seriously, "You can decide its value but I have done my part." The lioness took a step forward, ready to claim her reward despite his reaction. She did not move very quickly, though, there was still time for him to get violent.

He was surprised when she still wanted to take his kill, even when he rejected her fortune. But then, fair was fair. And he could catch more when he was feeling hungry again, this had put him in a bad mood for the time being. With an unhappy grunt, he shook his head and stepped over the carcass. Then he moved around Kinagiri, his main point now to just get away from her.
"Take it," he said, and jogged off.
