After another long day helping at the daycare, Ignacio stood against the cooling brick wall of the school and hummed softly to himself as he rolled first one shoulder and then the other. All of the kids had long since been picked up and departed. Even Evan had left after making sure Iggy would be fine. Tilting his head back until he felt the brick tug at his golden hair, Iggy squinted up at the sky. It wasn't going to rain, at least. Cool. He wanted to run home. He had too much energy left and Devon would kill him if he tried calesthetics in the house again.
Finally, after a soft laugh at himself, he pushed himself fully upright and stomped his feet in his sneakers. A few quick steps in place were considered enough warm-up and he started off around the corner of the school.

Antony was looking for him. Which was why he barely managed to avoid a head-on collision with the puppy teen. "Iggy," he said. "I was just looking for you!"
He should have done this earlier, he thought, irritated with himself. But things went fast.

Almost tripping for an instant before catching his backpedal, Iggy blinked owlishly at his friend. Then his face split into a wide, wide grin. "Antony!"

Seriously, why had he been worried about this? "Hey, why don't we run home together?" he asked. "Father's staying after to put together something for tomorrow's gym class."

"Sure." Iggy bounced his weight from one foot to the other and nodded. "If you think you can keep up. I've been practicing. It freaks Dad out." As if mention of Devon reminded him of something, he cocked his head to one side. "Dad'd probably like to see you again, too."

"Ah, about that," he said slowly. "I need to tell you something." He hesitated. "Want to talk as we run?" He didn't want to talk about it this close to the school.

"Sure. If you can." Iggy shrugged. "I don't slow-poke around when I run so you might not be able to if you're not in shape." He looked at his friend more closely and nodded, motioning for Antony to follow him towards the gate. "You look okay, though. C'mon!" With that warning, he set off at a swift trot.

Antony fell into rhythm with the other boy easily, not bothered by the faster pace. "The thing is, Iggy," he said finally. "I've told you I can see ghosts before, haven't I? Well when I was staying over at your place I just happened to be... possessed by one."

Iggy immediately pivoted on his heel and began running backwards, eyes wide. "Huh?" he asked intelligently.

"He didn't do anything too bad, did he?" Antony asked. "I would hate to think I was rude to either you or your father." It had been gnawing at him for a while. His father had told him that for the most part Rudolfo had been just fine, but Shade hadn't been there at all times.

A stone in the path made Iggy stumble and he was forced to turn back around. He cursed under his breath (that was new, he had never cursed in front of Antony before) and jogged on in quiet for another few feet. Suddenly, he veered left, bee-lining towards a convenient bench. A vague gesture indicated that Antony was supposed to join him.
When he was sitting, though, he stayed quiet for a few more long moments. Then Iggy sighed. "I dunno. It explains it, though. You were kinda weird. Askin' me weird questions and actin' like you weren't sure how we were friends."

"I see," Antony said as he sat down. "I wonder a lot, sometimes, about what he did while he was in control. He asked me a lot of questions and I lied to him, because I figured someone would notice..."
He sighed, running a hand over his face. "It won't happen again," he added with just the tiniest hints of menace. He had loosened up after the possession, but he had also gotten more ruthless. He was in the habit of taking out every ghost that noticed him before they got close enough to cause problems.

Iggy wrinkled his nose and looked down at his hands as he absorbed all of this. "Antony?" he finally whispered. "I'm sorry. I'm, like, really really sorry that I didn't know. I should've known. I mean... Some of those questions were not the kind you ask me. Nothing about sports, right, or schoolwork."

He shrugged. "You're you, Iggy," he said. "I don't expect you to question peoples' actions, especially people who you consider a friend." It was as simple as that. Ignacio accepted people, even if they were acting strangely. "Someone must have caught on, though, because I got free. Probably Father. Maybe Irelia. Jace most likely."
It was sad how few people knew him enough to have told the difference.

"Still... I'm really, really, really sorry." Despite Antony's reassurances, misery was clear on Iggy's face. "I know I'm kinda stupid about things but I should know better." He looked up and offered a lopsided smile. "But we're still cool, right? You're my best friend."
