I do find the logic behind that decision a bit...illogical.

There's a menorah-lighting ceremony held by the world's funniest politician, BORIS JOHNSON!!!! THE DAFTES, BEST MAYOR OF LONDON EVER!!! *cough*
Sorry about that. I'm going and I'll tell you how it went.
In London, we're Jew-friendly.

Ironic you should end on that note; On a thread here about antisemitic places to avoid someone said Britain in general. Don't feel bad; I never believed it because I have English, Jewish friends with whole families in Britain.

I said that about Britain being anti-semetic. That line about London being "Jew-friendly" was sarcasm, though it's hard to show sarcasm on a forum post sweatdrop
The truth is, this is the first big Jewish event here ever. My grandad nearly cried when he heard there would be actual recognision of Jewish faith in Britain.

Britain may not be anti-Semitic, per se, but the media as far as I can tell is heavily biased against Israel.

Britain has always backed Palestinians, historically. In the late 40's, the Brits were recruiting people to aid the Palestinian soldiers, and also to join the Palestinian police, which was a slightly biased law-enforcement system.

Kind of hypocritical that they screw up the Middle East and now back the other side....

Ugh, a British TV channel aired a "Christmas message" by that scumbag Ahmedinijad.
Seriously Britain, you're becoming too "progressive" for your own good.

Britain was forced into giving Jews Israel by the U.N.

Nothing wrong with that. It's just that a lot of people who call themselves "progressive" or left-wing like to stick up for entirely un-progressive people like Ahmedinejad, Chavez and Putin simply because they're anti-American. True progressivism, which entails opposing reactionaries like Ahmedinejad, is perfectly OK by me.
