The roar that sounded shook the leaves on the trees and sent those animals that dared be out this night skittering back into their holes, taking solace in the shadows. Birds called in terror, taking to the skies, anything to get away.

It was the witching hour again. All hallows eve again.

There were those, on the other side of the wrought iron gate that separated the islands from insanity that cowered at that sound. There was no gate that barred Dreizehn from insanity; he was intimately familiar with it. Even then, as he screamed out his rage and frustration, anger and hurt he knew that he walked the razors edge, with no way of knowing which way he would fall. Because fall he would. It was the only way he knew how to live.

There was no one here on this end of the islands to hear him, he knew that much. He remembered that much. How could he ever forget how alone he was? Lashing out with razor like claws, the demon destroyed anything in his path, beginning with the cockeyed door that separated him from the night. It busted from its hinges in a spray of splinters, releasing him to wreak havoc on the forest around him. Trees fell, roots ripped from the ground, branches rent from the trunk, the mournsome sound of its cracking like a cry of pain.

The animals had long since learned to steer of this place, but there was a time when they fell under his claws, too. Chest heaving, Dreizehn stood in the middle of what looked like the path of a tornado, paws and face bleeding though he didn't notice. Red on red, black on black...

"Red on red, black on black...red on black...red..."

Alexis wasn't cut out for the islands that she lived on with her care taker. Always so bright and cheery, as was so many of the other audios that stayed at the manor, driving Alexis even more insane. Her only sanctum was the fact that the manor was large enough that she could hide and lock herself away during the bright daylight days, and when she couldn't stand it anymore she would escape to the mainland where she could go to bars and find ways to keep herself away from the chipper world around her.

Nights were more her lifestyle, she thrived then, and this night she was out amongst the woods of the islands. It was all hallows eve, a time of darkness and spooks thriving in the air. The one time she seemed to enjoy the islands was at night and this night she headed in the direction of Etoile, because she knew it was by far the most dangerous place of the islands. She knew she wouldn't get into Etoile she tried before, however, where danger lurked she thrived.

Hearing a loud and agonized roar in the woods she found herself curious about what could make such a sound, so she turned and headed in the direction and soon came across a path of destruction. Rather then turning back as any sane person or audio would she followed the path of destruction her curiosity even more enthralled.

Dreizehn's ears flicked in the direction of someone who dared approach him. Yellow eyes, eyes that glowed in the darkness that surrounded him, swiveled to see who approached though his body barely moved. At his sides, his fingers curled and uncurled once, twice, three times. Did they want to sink into flesh the same way they sank into the wood? Did he want to massacre whoever dared approach, the same way he had all that surrounded him? A low growl began in his throat. A warning. Maybe. Maybe.

"Black on red...on black on black on red..." he murmured, barely seeing the world around him for the fury that blurred his vision. "Red. Who's there?"

Alexis stuck to the shadows as she moved along the path, she enjoyed the darkness. The sound of the feral growl sent a shiver through her but not in the way of warning. A voice in her head should be telling her to turn back, but every part of her only pushed her forward more. By the time he called out to her she had made her way close enough to the clearing to see the glow of his eyes, the color of the night amongst his fur, the blood, the claws, the wings all signs that she should leave and yet she didn't.

Instead she laughed, the laugh was almost sadistic in itself, and replied in a sultry sing song voice, "wouldn't you like to know?" She still remained in the shadows out of sight enjoying playing her new found game.

Four. Four times. The fourth time his paws clenched, his claws dug into the pads, but he could barely feel the sting. It didn't matter. Pain didn't matter. What mattered was that there was...an intruder. An intruder on his solitude. Glowing eyes fixed on her, blatantly studying her from top to bottom, drinking her in as if he were dying of thirst.

"I know," he said, voice low, dark as the night. He still hadn't bothered to move towards her, only his eyes showed that he knew where she was at all, and the sporadic movement of his ears. Though the rest of him might have been carved from rock, they moved like those of a frightened deer underneath his horns. Ironic.

"The stupid come here," he spat, showing a hint of faded white fang. Her bright pink markings all but glowed in the night, ethereal on this all hallows eve. He ******** hated Halloween.

Alexis rolled her eyes, "the pink wins again..." she said before stepping out of the shadows. "Stupid is as stupid does," she then replied in her sing song way, cocking her head to one side.

"If its any of your business I live on these wonderous islands," she said extremely sarcastic, for in her opinion these islands were nothing less the hell. She saw the warnings, his rage, the unstableness in his eyes, the clenched fists and the dripping blood through his fingers and still she didn't leave, instead she stepped a little closer.

"Stupid is as stupid does," he muttered, watching her warily. She was so tiny, her bones so frail. It would be so easy. Five. Five times. Again, he felt his claws dig into the pads of his paws, but he paid it no mind. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe tomorrow it would matter. Maybe. When he heard her describe the islands as wonderful, his muzzle twisted into a strange, eerie smile that was hardly a smile at all.

"wondrous islands," he said, parroting her again. "Yes, yes, they're most wondrous. Peaceful. Quiet. Love it here. Love it...love it here." His voice sounded strange, hoarse in his own ears, as if even now he were shaking the dust off a tool so rarely used. Only because it was true. How long had it been? Too long, and not long enough.

One of the trees groaned softly, one of the trashed limbs falling forward in the line of sight between the two of them. In a movement almost too fast to be followed, Dreizehn grabbed it, ripping the branch from the tree and slinging it behind him where it landed with a crash. Drops of blood from his hand slung with it. Red on black...blood and darkness. Red and black on red on black...

"Peaceful," he said, the growl gone from his voice, replaced with a raspy purr. "Why don't you love it here? Perfect, perfect..."

She watched as he snatched the branch from the air and slung it behind him, watched how the drops of his blood followed, watched how fast, how power, how dangerous he was, and yet how much closer the two had become. It sent another shiver down her spine as she cocked her head to the other side with a crooked grin.

"Whats there to like? After all its only to bright, to cheery, energetic, perfect, to lovely, to wonderous and worldly. Not to meantion the irony in the name of my perfectly chipper keeper Dark." She said in her sing song voice, not a sarcastic answer this time she was real.

"I'm in heaven here," she then added sarcastically.

Fear and fury roiled, rolled and seethed just beneath the surface as barely caged insanity flickered in his eyes. He felt himself teeter on the knifes edge, almost as strongly as if he had actually been walking a line. He hated other people. Hated them. Wished they would die. There was no sixth time, though six was a good number. Six by threes, black on red...Why wasn't she running away? Didn't she know, didn't she know what he wanted? Didn't she know that he'd see her blood run just as quickly as his own?

"Black on pink...red on black on black...red..." He muttered to himself as she spoke, though he heard her words perfectly. His hearing, it seemed, had not deteriorated along with his mind. Eyes still locked fiercely on hers, Dreizehn took a tentative step forwards, closer to her, as he decided what he wanted to do with her. To her. Red on black...red on pink...blood and fur and night. Perfect.

"What's there to like?" Another step towards her. "Dark, yes. Dark. Red on black... on pink on red... on black...night. Yes, dark. There is dark to like, isn't there?" When would she do it? When would she call him a monster? He remembered that.

Six times. That was when he would do it. When she called him a monster. He would see it then, pink on red on black.

"The dark. Yes. Indeed. Dark...perfect. Sweet blissful darkness." She said in a sing song purr now. She watched as he drew closer, watched as his fingers flexed but did not clench, saw the wildness in his feral eyes. "Perfect," she purred again her crooked smile coming again as she again looked to those feral eyes.

Again, she knew she should run not provoke and yet her taste, her life, her world was so twisted around that she stayed all the same, and even more so was willing to risk pushing him even more forward.

"Black on pink, red on black on black...red..." she said in her sing song voice mimicking his own repeated words.

Dreizehn took another step towards her, and then another. He didn't want to, but he needed to. He recognized within himself a need to exist in the notice of others, and he hated it. Hated it. Wished they would die. Wished he would die. But she didn't seem disgusted. She didn't seem afraid.

As she spoke his words, he mouthed them, eyes narrowing dangerously. Was she mocking him? Was she provoking the beast? Just as soon as she spoke those words, she would know what it meant. Black on red on pink...blood and fur and night.

"Darkness, yes." The rumbling in his throat--was it a growl or a purr? Did he long to touch her face, or wrap his hands around her throat? He took another step towards her.

"Little songbird, you're so far from home. Don't you know its not safe out at night?"

She smirked more, and closed the gap between them by taking a step closer to him herself.

"Darkness... danger... world I thrive." Alexis responded in her sing song ways, her eyes never leaving his golden ones. She was enthralled by him, entirely lost in the darkness of this world.

"Perfect..." she said in an almost purr, and again when she should have run she stayed but more so she reached out and touched his hand with her own.

When she took a step towards him, for the first time Dreizehn took his eyes off her--to grimace. His hand trembled when she touched it. How long had it been? Too long...and not long enough. Dammit. He snarled, baring his fangs at her as he jerked his gaze back to her. He wouldn't be cowed. He wouldn't be intimidated by a little songbird, so frail and so soft...

"Perfect..." Did he want to wrap his hands around her throat, or frame her lovely face? Did he want to watch the fire in those eyes, or watch it dwindle and die? Of their own volition, his hands rose, one to clutch her neck, another to cradle her cheek--a threat and a caress, love and hate. Black on pink on red... Blood from his hand trailed across her cheek as he cupped it, his sharp claws brushing the skin but not puncturing it.

"Pink..." he murmured. "Red on pink on black...You thrive, little songbird? How long, little bird? How long would you thrive? How long would it take? Pink on red...red on black..." His eyes had all but glazed over as his voice trailed off, the hand on her cheek clenching, the one on her neck perfectly still. The still of death. The still of a killer. How long will it take before you call me a monster? Then...only then...black on pink on red...

At his trembling, and suddenisity of his movements of his eyes down to their hands and then back up at her only alerted her more to just how dangerous he was. Another shiver, another smirk, a spark in her eye.

When he moved so suddenly grasping her throat, and the caress of her cheek she did not shy away in fear, she did not cower or move away as most certainly would. Instead she leaned slightly into his touch her eyes never leaving his.

"Perfect," again she purred in her sing song ways. Slowly she reached up and touched her cheek where his blood dripped down. She then looked at her fingers and then back at him, "red on black on pink on black...." her words were a whisper but he certainly would hear and not once did her smirk falter.

She knew. She understood. Dreizehns frenzied mind came to a screeching, screaming halt as she spoke those words, his blood on her delicate fingertips. Blood and fur and night...she knows...she knows... His yellow eyes searched hers, her face, her fingers, studied her. Trying to figure her out.

"Tell me, little songbird..." he murmured, his throat contracting painfully. "Tell me, tell me little songbird, when will you see? When will you know, will you call me a monster?" Then...black on pink on red...But she knew! But he knew he was a monster. Surely she would know as well. It was the reason for the smirk on her face.

Pink on black on red...red and black...blood and night...He knew the best way to remove smirks.
