I went to a metallica concert not long ago, and they came out with a really lame a** laser show, like something out of a rush concert, then at one point they did a shout out to some kid on his 13th birthday.... what the ******** happened to them?

Marketing.
Specifically, marketing towards a specific pre-teen fanbase.

I don't care who they are now though, they've created some of the best thrash metal ever and will always be gods to me.
Though I'd be slightly disgusted, I'd still love to see them. I'm jealous! What were they like live?
