For as long as he had known, the bamboo halls and paper windows with the rustling of the wind had been home. For as long as he had known, he had lived in the Hall of the Dark Pheonix's Shadow, alongside the other ninja. He was trained with them, but he was trained differently. He knew his past: he was decended from a Human Ruler, a Dragon Lord, an Elven Empress, and a Soulpire Hunter. These things made him different. The Human gave him a long history of strong warriors and wise rulers. The Dragon side gave him the natural conection to fire, and the strength of ten humans (small compared to a full bred dragon). The Elven gave him enhanced senses such as long distance vision. His hearing was three times better than the average man. His mind was quick and his body was flexible. But it was the Soulpire that was what made him never brush shoulders with his classmates. It was why he knew that if he walked on one side of the wide hallways and corridors, his fellow ninja would be sure to walk on the other side. Hardly anyone had ever heard of the species of Vampire. They found out quick. Once, a classmate of the name Katlum had dared to confront him outside of a training session. Without any physical contact, Katlum was sucked of his soul, and left as a haunted husk of human. Katlum swept the halls now. That was all he did.
He knew that, as a young child, he had come down from the stars in a meteor in the nearby forests. It took the ninja masters a month to open the metal husk of the heavensent egg. Considered a gift from the gods, he was immediatly initiated as a ninja. That was how it had been. Even the masters respected him for his strength and intellegence in a fight. Once, a band of corrupt samurai stormed the training grounds and took them prisoner. At the age of 13, Gladious had just grasped the idea of anger and rage. Consumed by his just anger, he vanished into the autumn leaves, only to spring up behind the samurai, feasting on their evil souls. He was relentless when it came to beings without a sense of justice and honor. He had been that way from the start. But Gladious was not without his weaknesses. His human emotions flooded his mind, barely supressed at times. One of the only times he let it out was when he fell in love with a fellow ninja student. Her name was Celestia, and she was beautiful. She too was different. Though she was human, she understood him to the fullest, and showed not fear, but compassion for his dark soul. Love was forbidden in the Hall of the Dark Pheonix's Shadow, but that didn't stop Gladious. A love bonded both of them until it happened. A decendent of the samurai he had killed came back to extract his revenge. Aiming his bow to Gladious, he aimed to kill. As the arrow was let fly, Celestia unknowingly took the shot. She died on the spot. Gladious was forced even deeper in his shell of darkness. He trained even harder to push back the pain and the bloody tears. He grew in strength and in age. Walking through the halls, Gladious thought of all the things that had led up to this night. Eventually he found himself standing in front of the three masters that had trained him to perfection. They gave him his final quest: to treck to the top of Pheonix mountain, the mountain that cast the shadow day and night on the halls that had been his home. When he would reach the top, he was to slay the beast within. That was all he was given. He'd have to figure it out himself. He gathered his possessions and slipped out the paper doors of his home. He hoped to never need to return...ever...and he knew he wouldn't...

Heh, alright, Insane. Now for the rest of Gladious's story: Hours later, Gladious found himself almost all the way up the mountain. He could see a cave, that seemed to send out living shadows. Ignoring his exhaustion, Gladious walked in towards the darkness. Using some fire in the palm of his hand, he illuminated the room. What he saw in front of him, he would never, ever forget. A huge, massive dark grey bird stood in front of him, staring at his face. Its scales were one half black, one half white. It's wings were formed of a living metallic feathers, magestic as the mountain itself. Towering at least ten feet above him, Gladious was, for the first and only time in his life, afraid. Then it spoke... In its cool, calm voice, it said, "Gladious, you have come to destroy me. We shall both see who is the best fighter." The soft waves flowed over his mind, soothing him and preparing him for the fight, as he knew were their intention. The legendary Dark Pheonix wanted him to present a worthy fight. It was the bird that made the first move. With a monstrous flap of its wings, it rocketed into the heights of the cavern, as if beckoning him to follow it. Through his training, Gladious had learned how to jump from wall to wall, and he did. Following the dark legend upwards, he leapt and grabed onto the Pheonix's right wing. The sudden added weight didn't seem to effect the beast at all, and they kept flying towards the ceiling. There was no attempt to stop, and the strong animal broke through the solid rock onto the peak of the mountain. Gladious found himself staring at the rest of the world. Then he was hit from behind, and began plummeting in the air to the bottom of the mountain. The sickening crunch of bones nearly made him faint, but Gladious was not human. He was more. Pushing through the masses of pain, he stood and waited for the bird to appear. He didn't know, but the bird was testing him, turning him over and over in its claws, trying to find a worthy vessel for its dark soul...something that could contain its imense power. On and on they fought, until both were at the end of their power. Sharp pain from a slice diagonaly down his torso flooded over Gladious's broken body. But still he pushed. The bird was bloodied all over, somehow still retaining its full glory. Then Gladious saw his chance as the bird allowed a weak point to surface in its heart. He struck out at it with all the dark energy he had...it was his only chance. But as he hit his mark, he felt his death. As he tore at his opponent's heart, an arm of dark energy shot out towards his own heart, leaving a black three pronged blotch: the shape of the pheonix claw. And then, before Gladious lost consciousness, he saw the Dark Pheonix dissappear, gone in all physical manner. As his body rested in its trance, Gladious underwent changes. His bones healed and became made of solid metal. The dark arts of black magic were implanted in his brain, all he had to do was dig them up. The Warrior of the Dark Pheonix had been born...
Gladious would travel on many quests to enhance his massive power, fighting good, evil, and anything that got in his way. His travels brought him to an icy land where he met the strange girl Furia, and the protective warrior Amon...
