Tamber....the way your style of playing sounds. My BD told me that....and I was just wondering if anyone else knew what it was and what type of tamber they had.

Well, it's actually spelled 'timbre'. I know it's weird to have it spelled like that and have the pronunciation be 'tamber' - but that's just how it is. Timbre is the quality of the sound, what makes the same type of instruments sound different from one another. For example, a bassoon should generally strive for a dark, rich, full timbre and something like a flute should go for a lighter, purer sound. But, of course, your timbre my differ depending on the piece that you are playing. It would be more helpful to yourself, I think, if you specified your question a bit more.
As afore mentioned, I try for a dark, full, rich timbre as I play the bassoon when I'm in Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, and Concert Band. But when I go into mixed chamber I try to lighten it up a bit to blend with the flute and clarinet I play with.
