With a delicate shudder, Laures left the river behind as quickly as he could. That was too much water for his liking. With any luck, he would not have to visit such a place or to cross others like it any time soon.
Let him stick to the meadows and forests, just as long as there were flowers to dance upon, and others to keep him company or provide a diversion from his normally lonely life.
He longed to find a friend. Someone he could share the company of who would enjoy the "open road" and pursuit of a dream, even if it wasn't the same as his.
Sighing, he continued on. Flapping his wings more than was strictly necessary, onward he flew.

The past was a blurr to him but he did remember this and that. How strange this place, he had wandered into, was. For example, creatures called 'two-leggers' lived among with the Soquilis. Unq was use to living on his own and had always seen a 'two-legger' from afar and never close. Here he sees them palying and interacting with his species in the most pointless ways. Unq did not like the creatures no matter how friendly they were. Something gave off a shudder and they were mysterious beings. The earth below his hooves began its cold touch already. Seasons changing by the time he had run into this village. His normal area would have been between the mountains and near the edge of the desert. The hot places what where he liked it. Which was why he would never had walked up to the top of the mountain, guessing it was most likely very cold, and the top was covered with snow as he coudl see when he stepped away from the mountain. Unq did not hae any family members that he knows of, his life was lonely? No, not lonely, just he liked to be alone. He never felt lonely, thought he never really felt happiness. Anger and pissy fits was usually what he had. Mature, that is one word he used to describe himself. Was it the right word? He wasnt sure. Nothign was sure in life, specially his.
Foals ran across his path, as he was deep in thought he had no idea that they had run past. Neighing loudly at the wild childs running freely away from him. Unq snorted and frowned, faced foward and kept walking. Foals was another thing he did not like, they were too much for him. His childhood....what was that like? Again, his memory was a blurr. It felt as if today was the day he awoke from a very long sleep, a dream that felt like reality. Perhaps that was the case. Then again, not possible. Head spinning with thoughts, Unq had no idea where he was heading. The sound of a river nearby, but besides that, all the rest was new. Only this one specific time had he wandered so far from where he normally stood his ground. His dark body glided over the soil, his face vibrant as ever and that one part under him just as vibrant. His tail flicking from side to side, his actions and walk looked joyful, when really inside he was rather...serious. It was just him. Unq Ein.

If there was one thing that Laures knew, it was his size could be used for mischief, for fun and for just being invisible. It wasn't that he would get in trouble- Oh no, not him- not purposely. But the smaller form made sure he was overlooked by two-leggers and other soquili alike.
He didn't like two-leggers. He never had- at least, that was the feeling he got being near the village. His skin crawled and he moved as swiftly as possible through. He had to get out of here before the weather turned any colder.
He saw a stallion- a regular. He was mostly dark, with a vibrant face. A face at odds with the serious expression. He looked lost, an expression he himself had worn for a while after waking up in this land.
Fluttering over to the other, Laures performed a few aerial stunts to draw attention. He fluttered just above the stallions face.
"Hi, hi. And who might you be?"

Still pondering on and on about the wonders of these lands, out comes something out of nowhere. His sharp eyes tried to stay with the object and keep it locked so he could get a good look. A fluttering sound rang in his ears, and before he knows it, a tiny stallion floating before him. This place was just strange wasn't it? Hes heard of soquilis with wings and horns. Indeed this one applied to the 'wings' but being so small was another story. Unq didnt widen his eyes or pull back. However, one thing he got easily annoyed of was when soquilis pounce right out and ask him for who he is. Unq prefered conversation before exchanging their names or who they were. Though, you wouldnt have to say what you're like when you are chatting. Eventually the other being will firgure it out, if they were bright enough. Unq took a step back to have some of his personel space. Looking the stallion over, he decided he was one he could live with for a few moments. If this was a foal, he'd walk right past it. Unq frowned then looked away from the flying one. He did not what what he was, and this was his first encounter with anyone around here. Perhaps this species was common then? Unq turned back, his black orbs held no pupils and therefore none could tell where he was really looking. For now, his eyes locked on the flutter.
"I'm one wandering alone amongst this unknown land. A land filled with many mysteries which can not be explained. Creatures of all sorts that roam the place." That was that. His answer back to the stallion. Unq did not care what the other might have thought of him, but Unq was just Unq. Even his name alone sounded rather awkward. More like a sound than a name. Then again, all names were made of sounds and certain ways to pronounce it. The vibrant face stallion did not care to ask back for who he was, although he was somewhat curious what his response to his one would be. So he decided to stay and wait a little while. It wouldnt kill now would it? Along with the thought of 'kill' he thought of rumors or perhaps facts about evil and darker ones which roamed the lands. Unq wasnt dark, no he wasnt. He was just serious. These were described in such measure that they sounded like evil spirits in a Soquili's body. Most likely the case anyways. Violent demons which feasted on their own kind or species (meaning his species) and anything that was considered weak compared to itself. The legend and stories made them sound powerful, and dangerous. Most likely true, Unq wasnt that curious to find out what these creatures were like. Even if he did, he'll keep in mind to keep his mouth shut rather than be himself. As he knew, without using his brain much, that it could cause him trouble. Although no talk would bring even more, or encourage the demon to provoke him to say something. Tough choices. Though he wasnt standing in front of a demon, not one that weighed twice as much as him. Instead it was one that weighed perhaps even less than his legs combined. Unq wasnt sure but he waited on the answer he had stayed still for.

So far in this land, since he had woken up, he had met only regulars. Those soquili who had no extra appendages-such as bird wings, horns (unicorn and otherwise), bat wings, or flutters like himself. He knew, from barely remembered scenes of his past, that others existed. That was just another reason, among lots of others, that he was searching.
" 'M a stranger in a foreign land, seeking, and collecting tales."
He fluttered close to watch the others reaction before darting backwards. Being unable to stay hover as he was, Laures flipped and dove before righting himself.
" 'M called Laures. So where're you from?"

The one did nto quite answer with a response that he found interesting. In fact, he answered back with one that sounded much like his own. Unq lost his patience for this one and just started lifting his front hoof until the one started with his name and began questioning about him once more. Unq had no interest with being specific at the moment, so his answer was not any different from the first. "I come from a place where its both cold and hot. Where one side of the earth seems burning everyday and the other rose high up with the cold at the top." He snorted and did not say his name even when the kind one, or so he seemed kind, shared his rightful name. Putting his hoof down again, Unq thought for a second and decided perhaps this Laures, will be his entertainment for the day. Better worth his while because he could be out snacking on berries. Watching the stallion move quite a bit and soon coem to a stabled position, Unq looked him over and decided he didnt seem dangerous either. Although, that can be easily a mistake if not careful. His name was a personal part of him, or for as he took it. It was to be shared with those you think worth hearing and knowing it. His mouth clamped shut, he waited for a response. Perhaps this one will be the one to leave now and had lost his interest in himself as well.
The flutter's wings were rather fragile looking. Rsembled the floaty animal which glided across Unq's oblivious face a few times the past summer. It had been rather wonderful watching it bounce up and down. With a small breath, it could send it flying into something not as joyful. He has heard about magic existing amongst these lands. Unq could not believe in magic, however, this new are he was in had quite proved him wrong. Horses with wings and horns were rather unique indeed. His own patterning had him thinking. Foals often found his face frightenening at points. Unq should have found it offending, but he could care less about others' thoughts. The wind whisped by and brushed his short mane, his tail strong against it and still swinging from side to side. Birds chirped around them, one thing Unq found entertainable. The songs of the birds in this place, which now he named it the forest, considering the trees and all. However, they werent wuite under the trees, a group of trees sat to the side but no further from where they were, on his other side was a clear field, the mountains were easily seen.

Laures pouted for a moment. This stallion was mean. Oh, well. The answers he gave were rather too vague, but at least they weren't your typical boring ones. He would get a straight answer from mr. grumpy pants if it killed.. oh wait, not kill, but maybe injure a little but no he couldn't stand pain. Well, suffice it to say he would get an answer somehow.
Maybe offering a little of himself? No, he really didn't know enough about himself, and found that information rather too precious to give up. Pondering his problem, Laures unconciously flitted back and forth, coming at one point rather close to landing on the forbidding face of his conversational partner.
"Ooops. Sorry, so sorry." He quickly floated backwards. Then he tilted his head. That nose really couldn't be as sharp or scary as it looked, could it?
He waited for the stallion to answer, hoping for a chance to move closer, unseen so he could find out.

Unq snorted and pulled back as fast as he could when the flutter seem to have 'slipped' in the air. The stallion hated when another being gets too close to him. His face always seem to show a frown or a rather intimidating look when really he was not giving such a look. However, most the time Unq was a grumpy boy. Looking the flutter over again, he wondered why this one is still here. Did it not feel the hint that he didnt want him around him no more? Perhaps it was up to him to make that obivious move. Unq started walking past the flutter, not sure if the fella would follow him or what. The creature was indeed tiny, and one question ringed in his head, hes heard of them shifting sizes, could this one shift sizes then? Being a great eavesdropper (sp?) and a tad nosy, Unq often overheard other conversations by 'accident'. Sometimes they were pointless mare chats but other times there would be some juicy bits. More factual sounding for others, but to him, it was like gossip. Unq knew his life was noted as rather 'boring' to others, however, he could care less of other's thoughts. Flicking his eyes to the corner for a quick peek, he caught sight of his favourite treat. Stopping in his tracks, he peered down on a bush dotted with red balls. No doubt berries and he did enjoy them really. Bending down, the colorful face soon dug into the bush and plucked each berry off. Enjoying every chew. Still not forgetting the flutter who could have easily caught up to him, Unq did not care if he did. He had berries to think and enjoy.
Continuing his feast, he could hear the chirps of a robin above him. Wonderful, now hes got music too. Closing his eyes as he let the song flow around him and take out the silence, Unq just let the wind blow through his hair and enjoy the moment. This was how he spent most his days. Just relaxing and celebrating nature. The world was a piece of art, everything on it was, though not many realize that. Unq often gets fustrated over the fact how some treat nature and how the two-leggers contaminate the water when they take their bath in it. One big thing about Unq, was that he really did care for the Earth, and about the only thing he did. It was his home.

The only thing Laures felt when the larger stallion brushed past without a word was indignation. How dare he simply walk on without a even a by-your-leave? He hadn't even acknowledged the apology. Laures snorted, and turning followed the stallion at a discrete distance.
It was almost surprising to find that mr. grumpy pants actually enjoyed something. At least thats the impression he got from watching the stallion stripping berries from a bush. Maybe, somewhere deep deep within his crusty exterior was a being who was worth getting to know.
Laures hummed. It wasn't going to be easy, but somehow, he would get to know the other and possibly become friends. Maybe that was expecting too much, but he refused to take no for an answer.
