For the past... however long it had been... Maleah had been flitting around this area of the the Pride Lands. It was unusual for her, but she wasn't being overly social. She stuck with going in and out to say a few words here and there to varying lions, but never stayed for long.
Aleiku was one she checked in with often. Originally she had done so out of concern, but he was always cool and calm about everything. In his eyes, things came as they did and he accepted it all with the same cheerful attitude. Indeed, Maleah had grown more and more amazed with the fortune the cub, teenager, and now full grown lion held. She enjoyed trying to rile him up, trying to talk about terrible things, trying to surprise him, or coming up with some fantastic dares, but the end always held the same result. He was terribly consistent about enjoying life.
She liked that stability in him.
She hadn't known how much exactly, and later would have to rethink through the actions she was about to take now. At the moment? She was too freaked out to much care what she was doing may or may not mean.
"Aleiku? Aleiku! Are you around here? Aleiku!" The normally cheerfully optimistic, adventuresome girl who didn't really have any issues with life but just wanted to use scare tactics with it was not who called. Maleah was upset, ears down, body low to the ground, and eyes wide. The edge of truth in her voice would be unmistakable, even to someone that perhaps had gotten to calling wolf on many things.

Aleiku had been sleeping comfortably while dangling on a tree. His tail had drifted off the edge while wiggling in short motions. His body looked as though he were really uncomfortable in the strange stretch it had afforded but the lion didn't seem to mind. As his body moved slightly he heard a loud voice that had abruptly shifted his mild dreaming into an intrusion. Flipping open wide eyes, just as he woke he found himself falling directly to the ground with a loud thud. "Oww..." He rubbed the back of his head with one paw. "I've got to find a safety net... that's sadly becoming a habit.." He was very unaware of what had woke him or why.

Maleah let out a yelp when Aleiku fell out of the tree not too far from her, and she ducked first behind the bushes to hide, then took cautious footsteps out of that brush, and then into and out of the brush that had hidden her view to see what it was that had made the sound.
It was with a sigh of relief when she realized who was lying there. "Aleiku! Thank goodness. Are you ok? Are you, nothing bad is happening to you?" she circled around him, then fell next to him, "Things are not good." She informed him.

Aleiku began to stand up and dust himself off when heard Maleah's calls. His head turned around, shooting a glance in her direction with a rather bewildered expression, "What is it? Of course I'm fine." He shook off her concerns a little but tried to remain hospitable to her feelings. "What's wrong Maleah?" He watched her carefully, something seemed different about her.

Maleah rested her head on Alieku, "It just feels wrong, and has. Brave lions are scared, and there's these bad lions walking about and....and....there's that one who... Aleiku! I'm going to go away from here. This place has turned all wrong!"
Her voice shook, clearly she believed that with everything in her. "And I don't think you should stay either. Or anyone! It's not good or safe here. It's all wrong. I'm scared."

"Shhh... shhh... Mon'Amie." His paw drifted over her as he pulled her close, trying hard to calm her shaking body. "This is our home... Nothing is wrong, its just your mind playing tricks on you." Even though his voice remained calm he was a bit concerned. He had never seen her this shaken before. "Take a deep breath and tell me what's on your mind..."

"You couldn't see it anyway." Maleah worried with her words, "You never see, you think it's all worth---but it isn't! When lions are hurting lions--It's unnatural....and I'm so scared of him. I don't know what he's going to do, and I don't know where he is. He's not even all lion."
Maleah looked around her, then straightened, turning to face Aleiku, "And you have to promise that you'll just take it! Getting hurt and just taking it is NOT the way things just are. Your dear mother nature can't always hold your neck scruff and defend you."
