Ah, hunting… one of the purest joys in life. At least, one of the very purest joys that could be enjoyed alone. And, for the moment, Iniko was very alone… that was a first; ever since he had found Ubuge (or had she found him? He couldn’t quite recall, and he was quite alright with not knowing), they’d been… well, spending time together. Or, more specifically, Ubuge wandered around, exuding grace and elegance, while Iniko followed along behind her, perfectly happy to remain in the background, so long as he could be by her side. It was all very romantic in his mind, but most others---including his best friend---would call him insane.
He didn’t mind. But, there were some things a leopard had to do on his own. After all, he hadn’t given Ubuge a real present yet, aside from singing for her. The leopard kept his body slung down low, stalking the kudu carefully. Now, how was this done…? He’d seen lions hunt before, and attempted to mimic their motions. In his home, the jungle, Iniko was a force to be reckoned with. Out here, he was little more than a silly kitten, merely playing at being a hunter. Oh, his movements were graceful, but there was just something… off about it. He was more used to leaping on his prey from the trees, not stalking after them on the ground!
But those kudu horns… they would make a pretty gift for Ubuge, now wouldn’t they? And a meal! Who didn’t appreciate a fine meal? His seagreen eyes were set upon the finest of the gazelles, because Ubuge deserved nothing but the best; he never paused to consider that the largest strongest male gazelle was probably a stupid target for someone who wasn’t used to hunting in the open plains. All the tan leopard thought about was how to best impress Ubuge. As the gazelle unknowingly wandered closer, Iniko lowered himself even more, his belly scraping the ground. His tail twitched and then he leapt with a mighty roar.
Roaring was probably a mistake. His target simply looked at him and charged right back. The day had been a stressful one for the kudu and he, quite frankly, wasn’t going to take it anymore. It had gotten the first hit, but, ultimately, Iniko got the last as he brought the beast down. With bloody jaws---and shoulders too, from the hooves and horns of the kudu----he let out another roar, feeling rather proud of himself.
Ubuge would be pleased, or so he hoped.

She did so enjoy having her little cabana boy around her, when ever she spoke he sang, when ever he vanished he always came back. He was like a puppy, lost without her. It made her smile. She couldn't help but appreciate the fact that he doted upon her. Her little servant.
She pursed her lips as she thought the word, he wasn't her servant yet, perhaps she should offer him that most wondrous of gifts. What did he greed for though? She would have to find out or she could not truly own him. Perhaps she didn't need to take a piece of him to keep him. He was already fairly obedient to her.
She stood slowly, her thick set form raising and shimmering, her thousands of knickknacks and gems glimmering in the sunshine. She smiled and padded off towards the open plains, where was her little cabana boy? Raising her nose to the air she puurred a mighty, house cat like rumble and followed his scent.

Once Iniko was done celebrating his new kill, he attempted to drag it back to Ubuge, or at least the last place he had seen her. This… was more difficult than he had anticipated. Oh, sure, he managed to bring down the kudu, but dragging it for several feet was downright exhausting, especially considering all the work he had put into killing the beast. Growling around a mouthful of meat, he braced all four feet against the ground and hauled. Amazingly enough, he actually managed to get his kill moved a few feet before he stopped for a breather.
… yeah. This would turn out real well. A lone leopard---exhausted leopard---with a kill that he could barely move. That totally wouldn’t attract attention. Iniko fidgeted slightly, only now thinking about the exact ramifications. But, after going through all the trouble to get this for Ubuge, he wasn’t going to abandon it. Just thinking about the lioness brought extra strength!
For a few more feet, anyway. Then he had to rest again. But, then a wonderfully familiar scent came on the wind. Ubuge. A dreamy smile wound its way on his face and he quickly attempted to clean himself so he wouldn’t look like he fell off a cliff earlier. “Ubuge? Is that you out there?” he asked eventually, attempting to sound dashing. Oh! Strike a pose time! He had a totally heroic pose in his mind, standing all dramatic over the dead kudu.

The large lioness could hardly not be seen as she padded far from silently though the gloomy covering of trees. The tone of voice which met her ears made her smile, it was almost a beg, how wonderful. It far from confused her thats he could make a simple leopard awe struck but the fact that she had weaved no greedy want in to his mind astounded her. She would. Eventually. After all, that was her way.
She moved from the shadows and in to the light where her trinkets glistened like a thousand stars from every place that could hold an item, some precious gem or glimmer of gold or silver, anything of value donned her mighty black form.
"Hello my dahling." She coos becoming an almost slinky beast, she could, when she wished, move in a delicate suave manner, her bulk never held her back she could shift in to swift lythe movement without another thought. "And what is this you have caught my love?" She puurrs padding up to him and brushing her fur in to his her gaze shifting to the bedraggled kuduu. It was a prize for him, something for him to show off to her, she knew that, but she couldn't help but stifle a chuckle. The poor boy was star struck and this meagre piece of meat which he had so deftly brought to its knees was useless to her, still, if she ate it he would probably be appreciative and she was never one to turn her nose up at a prize, after all food was more precious in these lands than her gems.
