The cubs were in formation.
A row of eyes watched the two older lions prowl by the small lot, sizing them up.
Well, rather, it was pairs of eyes. Mioyo couldn't help but worry the pride was in peril of thinning too quickly, falling too easily, and sighed at the cubs squirming, fidgeting, and wriggling-- and had to ask herself if she had done the right thing, though part of her told her she had.
A grow beside her-- Melhor warning the cubs to settle-- and Mioyo finished inspection, pulling Upenzi and Miira aside to train. Beyond that, was the matter of Nullpunkt and Mauji. Mauji she knew already, had to become commander, as quickly as he could learn all he could.
Nullpunkt was just vicious in play fights, and Mioyo had to admit it wasn't too unlike her.
Upenzi-- the little crackpot simply wasn't violent enough to go out, but she'd do as a huntress. Similarly to her was Miira, and as they were older than the other two, they'd need to learn to hunt, quickly.

Mioyo looked at the two girls before her, even as Melhor ushered the other two to train himself, before he'd throw them to Vaskezu, and studied their faces. Upenzi was grinning away, Mauji looking over his shoulder quietly at the only other leopard there as he was lead away, the female almost completely oblivious, starting to try catching a butterly. Upenzi reminded her of the small, haughty cats two-leggers kept as pets.

Miira, however, was watching her grandmother with a steadfastness, a serious face clearly showing the young seer was trying-- and probably failing-- to contain a vision.
Atleast she wasn't telling the older lioness she forsaw s**t in her future, as Miira often did to other cubs. She seemed to especially delighting in tormenting Mauji with the words, and was often swatted for it.

"Grandma, there's less food." Miira suddenly said, almost quietly. Mioyo froze, looking to the female in terror. Upenzi eyed the older lioness, and grumphed, swatting.
"No fair lying, Miira. There's been plenty--"
"Upenzi!"
Mioyo frowned, padding and studying Miira's face. The lioness' expression was blank, unfocused.
She wasn't seeing the present, again. Mioyo frowned. Famine now...?
One paw covered her eyes, groaning. This couldn't be happening. Could it? Mioyo uncovered her eyes, looking to Upenzi. The leopardess, by now, was pouncing Miira's tail, and by that notion, Miira had snapped out of it, the two wrestling. Mioyo frowned, seperating the two with a paw.

"Enough of that. We have training." The lioness grumbled. Satisfied with two sets of eyes upon her, Mioyo settled to work, pacing.
"Today, you learn how to fell a larger animal than a hare or something. Say, a Zebra."

Two pairs of eyes watched as the lioness even then gazed to a nearby herd and crouched, teaching by example. Both cubs dropped near her, and the trio crept after. Mioyo spied a weaker Zebra trailing, and not sure wether or not the cubs were eying her or the food, she lunged, attacking the straggler with a growl. A few minutes, and her jaws clamped down, snapping the animals' neck. Mioyo dragged the zebra back to the spot the cubs were left to, and blinked. Miira was eying the feild, and Mioyo followed her gaze.

Upenzi had made the mistake of actual imitation al the way through and tackled a foal, and a newborn at that.
The mother was not being kind, attempting to kill the cub mauling the baby. Mioyo roared, lunging and felling the female rapidly, before pulling Upenzi away as the herd fled. Mioyo dropped the leopardess next to the first carcass, watching the newborn bleat.
IT wasn't harmed severely-- nicked, but not as severe-- the mother having attacked Upenzi before harm could be done.
But the mother zebra WAS dead, and as good to have two Zebra as it was, the newborn was alone. Mioyo sighed, padding over and nosing the newborn to the cubs. Both ears pricked, even as Mioyo moved the new carcass, and nodded to Miira.
"Fetch you uncle Vaskezu to help move these."
Miira nodded, and Upenzi blinked, looking from the newborn (hungrily) to Mioyo. Mioyo gave the leopardess a cross look.

"What were you thinking?!" Mioyo hissed. Upenzi huffed.
"Well, it was stragglin'... And you wanted us to follow."
"Not for you to actually attack! Miira didn't attack! you were almost KILLED." Mioyo growled, looking to the newborn. "Now we have a baby to take on."
Upenzi looked to the bleating baby zebra and sighed.
"It's food. What do we do with it?"
"We keep it."
With that, Mioyo nudged at the foal, nosing it in the direction of home. Upenzi sighed, following, even as Mioyo went silent.
Great, another mouth to feed....
