I am sick and Tired of seeing words like "Dragonforce" "Dethklok" "Iron Maiden" (Not knocking the band, posers like them well) "Cradle of Filth" "Dimmu Borgir" and "Amon Amarth" being thrown around like a tween pillow fight.
What happened to GOOD music? What is with this sudden flux of mainstream lame-ness?
Ladies and gentlemen, metalheads, friends......We have a problem, a serious problem when even viking metal gets thrown into the mix. "VIKING METAL IS THE COOLEST!!! AMON AMARTH IS THE BEST MOST VIKING METAL BAND OUT THERE!!!" This is begining to become annoying.
It's a sad, sad day in metal when one cannot even call upon the name of Death (R.I.P. Chuck) without the possibility of being called a poser.
It's not the fact that the bands are getting well deserved recognition and converting the masses, it's the steady decline of once decent music. Our metal is starting not to become safe anymore. A revoltuion needs to happen. And it starts with us.

I swear of Chuck's grave, a guy came up to me today and said, "Dethklok is the best selling death metal album ever in . It's all about the money, only make what is profitable."
I took all the self-control in my system not to smack him. He turned to my friend and said to her, "I'm just picking a fight." I then told him, I have dealt with worse than him before. I'm used to it, since I'm a metal snob.
Then he told me that my opinions were jaded.
*It gets better*
The says to Carissa, "Watch this." Looks at me, throws up the horns and says, "leaves Eyes."
I look at him and say, "Yeah, I actually like them. They were my first goth metal band."
He gave me a confused look and said that I have weird classifications. He said it's just all just fantasy metal. Lol, then Carissa says to him, "Don't mess with her about genre's she knows her stuff." Leave it to a non-metal fan to be the voice of reason.
Then he makes fun of me for liking Warcraft. This is the first time that I've met the guy.
Your leader has etreme self control. Extreme self control.

You should have grabbed a viking sword and slaughtered him. On the spot. Then pillaged his pockets for loot and his ipod, so you could laugh at him.

Ahem. You know, I used to really really like power metal. Hell, I still do, just not as much as viking/folk.

Old bands wear out, like shoes. Stuff that was once new and exciting eventually becomes tired and worn and you end up getting tired of them. What to do? Buy new shoes.
All the bands you listed are at the tip of the true metal iceberg, a gateway between radio-friendly metalcore/hard rock and underground bands. (An aside about underground...I was listening to the radio in my car the other day and they had an interview with M. Shadows of A7X. I felt masochistic, so I listened for a little. The poser f*ck actually described his band as having and "underground fanbase." F*cking tool.)
Point is, these bands are popular because they're easy enough to listen to yet far enough out of mainstream channels that the idiots who adore them can act like they're uber kvlt.
Also, lolz @ "fantasy metal."

You can like a genre, but to be a total elitist about it... I listen to nothing but Fantasy Metal, and all your folk crap is for drunk German polka-dancing trolls in the woods.

First, weird avi Hollow. LOLz.
Second, isn't it annoying when people look at you weird, as a poser. I was at the mall to get a cd for mom. And these two Metal looking people were staring at me. I pretended not to notice. When I say Metal looking people I mean the guy had long hair and the girl had short and were wearing all black. As in they were out of the ordinary, grim s**t...
I felt like a poser compared to them cause even though I have semi long hair, my hair if vary shaggy and weird looking. They even stared at me on my way back. Maybe it's cause it's rare to see a Metal head in this country... Nah I'm sure I look like a weirdo poser... T.T
Anyways Viking Metal never caught on here, neither did Black. It's only Thrash and Death here. Listening to both makes you a poser.
I'm happy I'm not a hardcore Thrash fan. mrgreen
DragonForce RULES!!! dramallama
