Amara was ecstatic to be out and about. There was no particular reason for it, but she was full of energy, feeling as though she could run a mile in a handful of seconds (and given her legs, it wasn't too far off from the truth!).

The Spiraffe was outside of the main building of HyTech, stretching her satyr-esque legs and pawing at the ground in anticipation. A run or a good jaunt sounded fantastic; she didn't have much in the way of friends she could play with, but she was okay with that. Amara was mostly solitary by nature, even if she was learning to openly enjoy company. She had the great outdoors as her company today!

"Good morning, sunshine," she giggled to the sky, fingers reaching towards the blue expanse to pretend she could reach the clouds. "What shall we do today?"

The sun was shining, and despite there being a bitter cold wind when in the shade, Lance was outside enjoying what could be the last of the sunshine before winter set in fully. His little hooves were pushing through the deep leaves that coated his small corner of the Hytech Complex's grounds, the tree over head cascading leaves down intermittently, as the wind rushed through the canopy far overhead. His face was a mix of glee and loneliness. He had been out here for a good hour or so, and no one had appeared. He thought more then just he would want to take advantage of the sunshine, but here he was, all alone under a grand old tree, playing the childish autuminal games that resulted in mucky knees, hands and, in the occassional circumstance, face. Lance filled every category, having spent a good deal of time scraping together a large pile of leaves of every fall shade you could think; gold, brown, red, yellow, orange, even some still half green ones that looked very out of place. Having gathered the leaves together, Lance was now in the process of kicking the pile all over the place.

Laughing softly to himself, he failed to notice another join him. His lunch bag that his father had left him was situated by the wall of the complex, a small plastic sword, gloves and even a toy shield were all set in loving detail around the bag of his belongings. His father had allowed him to stay away from home for a few nights, and Lance had taken up semi-residence in one of the dormitory rooms on the second floor. Now his father thought it viable, Lance had jumped at the chance of being closer to his dark counterpart, but today, he had missed everyone, and was playing alone. Not that he minded. He had grown to this age fairly alone, though his father was probably the best person in the world for rough housing and playing knights with. Malhyanth sure did do a good impersonation of someone stabbed with a sword!!! His winged arms were very dramatic!!

Chuckling at the memory of his father spinning on the spot, one arm outstretched and the other holding the little plastic sword to his chest, then falling down on the sun baked earth, Lance couldn't help but wonder if he would begin to miss those games with his outside-father. He knew he belonged here at Hytech, but how could he say he wanted to stay here permenantly?

Slender arms were drawn back to her lithe torso as she caught the sound of giggling and something else more vague, like tromping on wet earth. The teen swiveled her ears, attention eventually lighting upon the dirty knight kicking leaves into the air. Amara found herself smiling fondly, watching for a moment; despite the muck, the light centaur was still so very regal.

She started over towards him, not wanting to encroach on any fun the centaur may be having on his own (as she knew very well personally), lifting a hand as her soft voice carried. "Hello, Lancelot!" she greeted the bright-eyed child happily, "That looks fun!"

And it smelled delightful! She was fond of the scent of Autumn thus far, and the damp pile of fading leaves was a wonderful testiment to the season. Dainty fingers extended to catch a stray leaf, turning it over her small palm to admire the colors. So many of them, and yet she was still partial to black! Amara smiled to Lance, wondering just where the dark counterpart fo the playful knight was. She made a mental note to cut more apples to lure the other out sometime.

Lance nearly stumbled as a voice startled him out of his reviere. He stopped his stomping to turn and spy Amara inspecting a leaf. His face broke into a cute grin, puffing out his little chest as he came to realise she had called him by his full name. He liked his full name, it was so regal, and it reminded him of his namesake, the famous Knight of the round table his father told him stories of so much. He liked those stories; how they had slayed barbarians and dragons, protected the land with a firm hand and loving heart, had saved damsels in distress with their strength and ingenuity.

He giggled excitedly and trotted over to her quickly, bowing low and taking her free hand to kiss in a very gentlemanly way. He looked up at her with gleeful amber-gold eyes, his cheeks flushed pink from his stomping and the brisk wind that continued to shower them with fallen leaves.

"My lady, Amara! It is most fun!" He looked to the leaf she was inspecting and tutted, shaking his head and trotting quickly to his bag, extracting from its zipped up enclosure a smaller carrier bag that appeared to be full of more leaves. He had clearly been busy in his hours alone, and he brought the bag over to Amara. Plucking the one she held from her fingers, he looked it over and tutted. "No no no, not good enough! You must wear a better one!" He grinned again and let go of the other leaf, before lifting the bag carefully and inspecting its contents. He reaching in with a gentle movement and brought out a most fiery looking leaf, all yellow, gold and red, so vivid and bright it was nearly blinding in the autuminal sunshine.

"Perfect!!" Lance chuckled, placing the bag down on the ground and then using careful, chill and slighlty muddied fingers to place the stem of the leaf behind Amara's ear, making her look like a strong american-indian woman, in his imagination anyway. He stepped back, avoiding his bag of goodies, and inspected his handiwork. So she had a bit of a muddy smudge on her cheek now, and the leaf was a little crooked... She looked great! He grinned again and clapped his hands, picking up the carrier bag and storing it safely back in his lunch bag, with his sword and shielf protecting it. Turning back to the Spiraffe, he chuckled softly and covered his mouth. "My apologises, I should have asked first! How are you Amara?'"

The femme giggled at Lance's wide grin, finding it easy to join in the younger Hyte's mirth. She squeezed his hand sweetly at the kiss, lowering her eyes demurely beneath her thick lashes, pleased, "I can tell. You look positively giddy!" Tilting her head, she lowered the hand with the leaf so the centaur could better inspect it, watching him take off with an amused smile. He was so full of energy and life! It was refreshing, making her itch to romp as well.

Amara kneeled as best she could so Lance wouldn't have to reach, her expression momentarily bewildered as he extended a leaf within his grasp towards her hair. The look quickly evaporated into one of sheer joy, even with the mud on her cheek, lifting her fingers to carefully touch the leaf by her slender ear; she wouldn't want to lose it after all that! "Why thank you, Lancelot!" she all but gushed at the sweet gift, her smile warm, "It's beautiful! I'll be careful not to lose it."

She had half a mind to hug the knight, but he was off again, tending to his belongings. "No apology is needed dear Knight. I'm much better now that I've this beautiful adornment!" Amara idly touched her locks just beneath the vibrant item, still moved by the simple but earnest gift. "How are you on this brisk and beautiful day?"

Lance smiled again and clapped his hands together with glee, flanks twitching to have a good roam around now that he had a friend to do it with. He had only met Amara once or twice, but he already felt that she was a good person to be around, and his father had said to make an effort with other Hytes and not just loose himself in his friendship with Ciaran. At her question, he simply grinned brilliantly and raised his hands up to the falling leaves.

"I feel wonderful!! The weather is perfect, the leaves are just so beauitful!! What more could a young Knight wish for his day off?" He smiled and motioned for Amara to follow, disappearing behind the large tree's trunk and appearing out the other side with a playful look. "Would you like to play tag Lady Amara? I warn you, I've been practicing getting faster and steadier on these four hooves! I won't go easy on you!!" He giggled, laughing at his internal joke. Of course he would go easy on the lady, she was a lady after all!! She needed protecting and looking after and amusing if she was to remain a happy lady. Lance was a gallant Knight, he would look after her while there were none others around, and he would make sure she felt like royalty!! A lesson he had not failed to heed from his father.

"How about you start?" And with that, he trotted to a fair distance, preparing for her burst of speed to catch him. He was ready by far!!

Amara laughed delightedly. A game? She hadn't played tag before! The Spiraffe smiled widely, adjusting the leaf in her hair a bit more firmly, looking to the centaur beneath her thick lashes. "I should warn you, dear Lancelot, that I take after my faster father," she giggled lightly, "so don't take it easy on me!" Not that she intended to sprint at Lance with the full speed of her Springbok blood, but the idea of the chase was foreign to her, if not fascinating; her kind were the chased, so to be on the opposite end was enticing.

Her legs bent and stretched comfortably, keeping an eye out for her four-legged counterpart to make sure he didn't try to sneak off while she was preparing. The teen gave a few fair-heighted bounces before she turned to the centaur, tail flicking rapidly with her playful intentions. "Here I come!" she called gleefully, powerful legs acting like a spring to launch her towards the pale male, giggling all the while.

Her speed was more of a loping and graceful motion, not quite putting on her running shoes, as it were; she was having fun, and the point was not to win, but to enjoy the cool autumn day with a new friend.

Lancelot near squealed with excitement as Amara suddenly lifted from the ground in the beautiful gait she carried. His own legs twitched with excitement, but he held it... and he held it... Waiting for her to get close as possible, before stamping all four feet forward hard and bounding off in the opposite direction. It was like fluid motion as he ran; humanoid back joining perfectly to his equine back, hip-shoulders rolling gracefully to propel him, and the legs striding effortlessly. Yes he was new to this sort of activity, but his equine half knew exactly what it was doing. It had been built for this kind of activity, and he knew instinctively the best foot to place where to get the optimum propulsion. He glanced back over his shoulder to see that Amara had fallen back and he slowed to a generous lope. He had got too caught up in his gallop, and now he circled back a little, teasing her, making her want to speed up and come get him.

"You were right, dear Amara. You certainly are quick!"

The femme giggled as she watched the young centaur take off in a burst of speed. He was so free-spirited and energetic! She'd never been so playful when she was younger, but she hadn't had the opportunity to, either. Amara watched his graceful equine half gallop in a spray of leaves and soft soil, admiring his gusto with a soft smile. She was rather fond of her Knight's lighter half, breaking into a pleased grin as he rounded back to her.

Her tail flicked as she listened, coming to a pause in her movements. Having taken after her springbok father in speed, she knew she could give him a fair run for his money, being lighter than the animal itself and longer of leg. "You're so fast," Amara laughed softly, "I'll try to keep up!" The compliment was encouraging, and with a few more long strides, she turned and sprang forward, delicate hands stretching towards him to continue their game.

Lance had been too caught up in her praise that he didn't notice her reach forward till it was too late, her hands planting firmly on his horse half, making him jump. He laughed jovially, prancing forward and grinning like a kid in a sweet shop. He stood, legs braced, watching Amara.

"Wow! That was so quick I didn't even SEE you!!" He laughed and covered his lower face with a hand, watching her with wide, excited orange-gold eyes. "But... How quick are you really?" His grin was replaced by a determined smile and he pawed at the ground with his dark forehoof. "I'll count to three, then chase you with all my speed! Ready? 1.............. 2, 3!!!" With that, he propelled himself forward, dark hoofs thundering out a tattoo of beats as he dove for her, arms outstretched. "HERE I COME!!!" He shouted through his laughter.

Amara was enjoying herself so thoroughly that it almost surprised her when her hands slid over the soft hair of Lance's equine body. She gave him a gentle pat, giggling softly at him. "Oh come now Lancelot, I was being unfairly distracting!" Her eyes opened a touch more so at the question, feeling a thrill that made her legs want to move, to run across the plains and laugh at the sky. She imagined this is what her childhood would have been like...

She obligingly bounced back, and then took several steps away from the Knight, arm twining around the tree the centaur had been playing beneath before. Ashen eyes peered around the thick trunk, grin wide with anticipation; once Lance started to count down, she gave a small squeal of excitement and turned, sharp hooves digging into the soft dirt beneath and launching herself off to the side. It was time to be chased, and being a mix of springbok and giraffe, she knew well how to flee!

With tail tucked close and double-jointed legs bent with each leaping step of her sprint, she called joyfully to her friend. "Come get me~!"

Lance's laughter was palpable, and he could hardly control his breathing around it. He loved to run, and his Knightly training loved to chase! He darted around the tree she had been hiding behind, but she had already leapt off and was sprinting in the other direction. He watched her with awe. How fast she could move, and on two legs!! Lance was quick, but he had four! Hardly fair considering, but she was older then him either way, and had much greater control of her hooves; Lance was still getting to grips with his! He grinned as he watched her sprint, and pawed nervously at the ground. Her call eased his mind though, and he set his face into a determined smile.

"Here I come then!!!" He shouted, pushing off of the tree's trunk, and arranging his hooves into a gallop. He lowered his human half, making it so that he could reach his highest speed; pretty fast for one so small! He hurtled toward her, hands outstretched...
