I know this belongs in the subforums, but i don't think anyone checks those, so....
I have a tip for beating the ghosts in Silent Hill 4! Take the Aluminum bat and continuoulsy whack the crap out of the ghosts. It will kill them. I've tried it and it works.

Aww. But they're so fun! Nothing amuses me more then Victim Number Nineteen teleporting and scaring the crap out of me!

I might try it. Its been a while since I played SH4. Water Prison World always tends to piss me off, and then I don't play for a while...

Hey, it works! They actually stay down! =D I don't know for how long... I don't hang around.
The lovely gurgling sound they make when you jam a sword into their chest isn't as satisfying as limp silence.

i beat the crap out of an old lady ghost and she screamed then fell down. i entered and reentered the room several times, but she stayed down.

yeah, it's a pretty useful tip. that way, you won't have to waste a sword or a candle. you can save the swords for the main ghosts (i.e. Cynthia, Jasper, Richard, and Andrew)

Richard was the only ghost to scare me to the point of screaming in terror. Darn him. I spent most of my time giggling when I played Silent Hill 4. Mostly because I get really really exited when I put together clues on my own.
I loved the story so much I could only giggle madly at how happy I was to continue the story.
When I first ran into the Cynthia ghost I had such a hard time killing her. I was just going to run from her, but I got lost in the train and had to fight her off. She wouldn't stay down long enough for me to run, and Eileen wasn't much help... So I kept hitting her and hitting her until she fell over. Then I put a candle in her head. It was a victory. I rejoiced and went to go get the sword. I hated her so much by now I didn't care how cool she was as a ghost. Yep.

You should have saved that one for Cynthia. The one you find in the subway world was meant for Jasper. (in my opinion anyway)

oh, ok! i was just thiking out loud. When i was playing SH4, i took the sword from Jasper's body and he showed up in a later area. i used all the swords and no one came back.

i ONLY used swords for the major ghosts.... as for like.... smaller ghosts.... i pretty much just hit them a bunch with the rusty axe. (2nd strongest weapon in the game) aluminum bat is 3rd, and the pickaxe of despair is number one.

HeroofAvarisix where is the pickaxe of despair? I think I might've missed it The pickaxe of despair is in Forest World whenever you're heading towards the lake. It's the area right before reaching the lake, almost like a cave. You'll see it lieing on the ground. It's also the same area that has 3 ghosts floating around in it.
