Kane had gone south of out necessity, the packs up north have been more aggressive than usual and he just wanted to escape for a while until things calmed down. Besides it had snowed in the Neutral area so it wouldn't look too different, right?

He was NOT used to neutral territory. There was snow, like there always was for him, but there were also several more trees than he was used to. The pup heard leaves crunching under the snow. He bounded threw the snow, he had eaten a couple mice earlier so he was feeling full and energetic now. Usually he avoided wasting energy but there was more prey in these forests and he had a feeling hunting would be easy enough.

He came upon two pups his age, they seemed to be playing. Kane watched for a moment, realizing that he hadn't played with someone his age in a long time. Not since his pack abandoned him. He had never had time to play afterward, was too busy hunting to eat.

Smiling one of his rare happy smiles he hopped closer to the two. He really wanted to join in so he dropped his demanding sometimes bossy attitude. "Hi, I'm Kane! Can I...may I play too?" He asked, correcting himself to make the question as polite as he could make it. His tail wagged side to side, eyes bright and hopeful.

He didn't feel so suspicious around these two as he did around adults. They were pups his age, just playing around. He wanted to play too!

Shadow wondered why Nani didn't return his gesture and he tilted his head at her curiously. He finally noticed she was looking at someone else when he heard a voice behind him. He spun around so that he was facing the other male, stiff, and he made sure not to hit Nani. Showing off to her too much had made him more... aggresive, one could say. Shadow scanned the area but it seemed the pups' parent's weren't there. Perhaps this Kane snuck out as well? He smirked, immedietly liking the male. At least Nani was speaking to him in a voice louder than a whisper, he thought. "Right." he told her, nodding his head slightly. "My name's Shadow, but you can call me Shade. Nice to meet you, Kane." he said, offering a smile. He laid down on the snow, wriggling closer to the white red and white pup, and nipped at his paws playfully.

Shadow raised his eyes to look at Kane when his head was pawed at, giving him a more predatory look, especially when he grinned, showing off his small fangs. With a roar that was getting better each day, he stood on his hind paws to catch Kane midair. They both tumbled backwards and Shadow landed on his back. He gave a playful growl and spun so that he was next to Kane and pounced on him attacking his ear. His throat vibrated with soft growls as he continued his assault on the ear. He shot a glance towards Nani, wondering if she would come. She usually preffered to stay away from these kinds of playing but who knew. He raised his tail and waved it slightly in an invitation.

Shadow gave a surprised grunt when Kane was suddenly on his back, pawing at him. He grinned, trying to swipe at the white pup's stomach. It was a fatal mistake one should never make unless desperate or admitting defeat, his father had taught him. The stomach was a wolf's most vulnerable point and Shadow used the knowledge to his advantage. Nani forgotten for now in the romp, Shadow snapped at Kane's legs, trying to grab hold of one to at least halt some of the flailing he seemed to be doing.

Kane was shocked at first wondering what happened but then he grinned. "I was wondering when you'd join in!" He stood up and shook himself vigorously. He never did get a chance to see Shadow's reaction to the nipping and lick but his ears told him everything he needed to know. He got mad and growled. This surprised Kane, what had he done wrong? Was it the dominance thing or the licks that made him mad? He decided it had to be the dominating posture, after all licks were friendly! He'd have to lick the pup again soon to show his thanks for being included in the play, so he could see him smile instead of growl.

Deciding he wasn't about to be outdone by a girl he quickly joined in too. He didn't want to hurt Nani, she was spunky and he admired that in a girl but she was still smaller than him and he didn't want to chance it. So he circled around searching for a chance. He used his tail to tickle Shadow's belly, see if he could get the other pup laughing. Get him in a good mood first, then lick him. Maybe Nani would even help tickle him!

Kane raised his head and tail up again, meeting Shadow's challenge with defiance. Before the fight though he quickly licked Shadow's nose. "Thanks for the fun time." He backed up and took his fighting position. He never backed down from an outright challenge so it would be a tussle between to domineering male pups.

His hackles rose as well as the fur on his back. He growled too, trying to be louder than Shadow. His wagging tail gave away that this was still a play fight. He began a slow circle around the challenging pup, ready to go, eager to continue their match. In the end they would see who was more dominant. Proving strength was good, it would help keep prey thieves and den takers from taking his things in the future.
