Did YOU know that way back in 2001, Nickelodeon's FIRST EVER action adventure show was going to be a steampunk show? Tis true, apparently. It was called "Constant Payne." The pilot was written and produced by Micah Wright, and you can watch it in all its glory here: http://homepage.mac.com/leperous/iMovieTheater5.htmlHonestly? It's not terrific. But hey, its a pilot. They're not usually all that great--but plenty of sub-par pilots have gone on to be great shows (Megas XLR comes to mind). I think it had great potential, though. So, why was it never created? Because then the Terrorists would win. Apparently. neutral If you think this show should be made, Micah encourages you to sign his guestbook stating your opinions on it, so that he can prove to media executives that there is demand for this show. You can find it by visiting his website, and scrolling to the bottom. http://www.micahwright.com/payne.html

"Lastly (and most importantly) after the terror attacks of 9/11, Nickelodeon decided they didn't want to make any action shows, much less one where the main character's mother had been killed by terrorists and where the father was dealing with raising his daughter alone and attempting to keep her from following in his dangerous footsteps. Before 9/11, the executives didn't think the show's family dynamic "reflected reality." After 9/11, I suppose it reflected reality all too well."

I think it's pretty fantastic indeed. Too bad Nickelodeon wouldn't do it. You'd think that after 9/11 they'd prefer for the show to go on because the kids would feel empowered or something. Like, "Oh we can fight terrorists!" or something like that. Um. But then that's just me.
I think it would have been a fun show to have happen.

I don't actually like it. There was a airship involved, but that was the only thing that caught my interest. I'd still rather have kids exposed to the Sarah Jane Adventures and Gargoyles before I pushed something boring that was vaguely steampunk.

That looked incredibly bad... All flash with no bang... It might also be an age thing for me though... The show might work for younger viewers. 3nodding

On an unrelated note, Vomit King, I know that the song quoted in your signature is a traditional ditty so is sung by many artists, but you wouldn't happen to be familiar with a Cleveland band called Brigid's Cross, would you? I tried PMing the question but it seems you've restricted your PMs.

That is probably the worst name for a TV show I have ever seen.

They said no to that because of the violence, but later said yes to Avatar? That doesn't sound very fair. But then again, Nickelodeon has never been known for being run by people of intelligence.
It was quite interesting. I would probably watch it. It's better than most of the children's cartoons on t.v. these days.

Sidnay That is probably the worst name for a TV show I have ever seen. It's pretty bad. It probably would have been changed once it was picked up as a series. Going back to the Megas XLR example, the pilot was called "Lowbrow." 0_o

I agree with the name change. The show doesn't look too bad, but the dialogue is a little face-paced. Definitely seems like they were trying to fit as much as they could into a pilot. Who knows, maybe the show would be better. Either way I think it couldn't hurt to give it a chance.

looked pretty good to me- It's about time to move on. Of course, I figure it'd be polished...
But is there actually any chance of something made in the early millenia being brought back before a board? I know nothing of broadcasting networks and their cogs.
Oh yes- tried to sign the guestbook...but its brokeded... =/
