Lilith sat almost motionless, her clear pink eyes discreetly scanning the surrounding area from under her dark, alluring lashes. Her perfect appearance was in direct antithesis with the dank surroundings of the bar. She radiated disgust for her milieu, and in an almost impervious movement flicked a thin digit towards her glass, containing a murky clearish liquid, in an attempt to clear some of the grime from the rim. Needless to say, she hadn't deigned to take a sip, and was merely engaging in a favourite habit of hers; observation. A woman in her line of work could never have too much information, especially in this most murky part of Omnigenus, where secrets are generally paid well for – either to keep, or to share. Her ears were pricked high too, another keen aid to data retrieval. Her wits were sharp, though she was less physically capable than other Daruma her age, she was able enough to talk – or seduce – her way out of most conflicts.

This was not her usual haunt for intelligence, and she had found much to be interested in. she had not uncovered a great deal of instantly marketable information, but had jotted down several leads she had discreetly uncovered, and would follow up as and when she left the dump of a bar she was in. She loosed a sigh from deep in her lungs. This place was disgusting, she didn't even know the name of it, and she'd be damned if she could stand the stench much longer. She leaned forward onto the bar, and smiled at the barman, rather provocatively if truth be told, accompanied by lowering of the dark lids.

“Oh darling, surely there's something better behind there than this swill you're serving me?”

A loud crash interupted all but the most drunken of conversations in the bar followed by some very angry yelling from the kitchen. The door back to the kitchen exploded outward and a young tigris practicly slid to a stop in the middle of the common room floor. A larger canis came to a halt in the doorway glaring at the young tigris.

With the bartender and cook glaring at him menacingly Lohkie glanced around and noticed a very striking canis sitting at the bar. Grinning lohkie held up a bottle filled with a dark amber liquid. "I'll meet you at the rondevu later kay?" he shouted grinning and waving at the pink and white canis. As both the bartender and cook lunged for lohkie he bolted out the main door, fast outruning the other two.

as the door swang shut with a soft click that filled the room the bartender and cook Rounded on the poor canis who was obviously the young tigris' accomplice.

Lilith contained her seething anger, clenching every muscle in her body in sheer fury. That absolute MORON, laying all the blame on her! She would make his life hell as soon as she met him outside. She stepped elegantly from her barstool and turned to face the angry employees, loosening her shoulders and presenting the image of a very sexy damsel in distress. Her heart began to race; she hoped to hell she'd be able to smooth talk her way out of this, her fighting skills were more than rusty - practically untouched would be nearer the mark.

"Oh my," she began, purring her words softly, "what an excitable young fellow. Typical on-the-make ruffian, I assume." She spat the last sentence, villainously, and could sense the aura in the room change from opposing to agreeing. If there was something these Daruma hated more than a stranger, it was a stranger playing anyone else for a fool.

"Perhaps, if you won't take my word, you'll take a token of my appreciation of your fine establishment instead?" Her lilting voice had already convinced several members of the crowd, even before she pulled out the rather large-numbered notes and pressed them into the hands of the bartender.
She smiled at them for a final time.

"And I really must be going," she said quietly, in almost a throaty whisper, "but I promise to be back soon." She slowly sashayed to the door and winked before she left.

The minute the door creaked to a close behind her, Lilith streaked through the street at full speed, in hot pursuit of the young Tigris who was now the object of utter malice.

Lohkie was a couple blocks down, waiting in an ally. as lilith rushed past Lohkie popped out and shoved a bottle of amber liquid into her arms "hold this!" he said quietly.

just then a lepus rounded the corner of the ally. "lohkie! did you get it?" the lepus growled.

Whirling around Lohkie swelled up his chest. "of course i got it old man! but i had to get help, the price is doubled!"

"hell no, I don't care you had to get help. That's your own damn fault for not being better. the price is the same!"

"i could easily take this to the blind man and he'd give me plenty for this! you want it, the price is doubled!"
"you little a**, fine, I'll pay you 50 more, now hand it over." the lepus said, holding out his hand with the glint of moeny within.

"alright you heard the man, give it to him." lohkie said to the canis as he took the lepus' money.

Lilith grinned. This wasn't the grin that meant the beautiful woman was going to make your life easy; in fact it was the exact opposite. The twisted malice evident in her face suited her, oddly enough, as if she was born to be like this. She dangled the precious bottle at arms' length, making the slightly viscous liquid inside slosh crazily at the glass' sides, as if it were trying to escape.

"What's my cut of the money, kid?~" She purred, the sexy tone far more menacing than usual.
"I could just take it to the blind man myself. Oh my, what if I drop it?~" She ad-libbed wildly, looking the Lepus up and down, assessing him. She could, worst case scenario, run and leave the Tigris to his fate, which was frankly the most tempting possibility.

"Or, of course ... " she began, turning the siren eyes towards the angry Lepus, "I could make it worth YOUR while." She glanced back at the Tigris, trying to assess quickly how useful he could be. If she could make a quick buck from this unfortunate situation so be it - she hoped the Tigris wouldn't be hurt in the making, but it'd be his own fault if he was.

Lohkie laughed, "you get what we agreed on. No more no less. 30 of the payout. and don't call me kid, i'm just as old as you if not older."

Lohkie shrugged "I have the money already if you drop the bottle, he can take it outa your hide for all i care. oh, and you won't get your cut." Lohkie leaned up against the wall of the ally next to a couple bags of garbage.

He hoped that she would give it to the lepus, it was just easier that way. But it really didn't matter what happened. even if the girl ran, Lohkie would be fine, there's one thing you always learned working under Tommy.

Always leave yourself a way out.

Lilith swore lightly under her breath. Cornered. How on earth did she manage to get into these situations, she asked herself frustratedly. She growled lightly, baring her sharp teeth and tossed the bottle threateningly in the air, and caught it delicately.

"Pay up then. Kid."
She called him the derogatory name again, merely because he had told her not to. Besides, he acted like a much younger Daruma, one still in the Pod almost. She hated unpredictability, but she blamed it on herself for not being her own employer in this case.

She held the bottle away, at arms' length whilst holding out her other hand expectantly to the Tigris, entirely aware of the snarling Lepus' patience growing thin. She quickly regained her composure, hoping that having grasped a few cards back to her chest she could retain the upper hand. The familiar smirk returned, although this time her eyes were less steely. Though she would not admit it, she felt a flush of admiration for this ballsy Tigris, and was to her chagrin impressed with his business savvy.

As Lilith held the bottle out the angry lepus quickly reached out and snatched the bottle away from her. Lohkie laughed as he watched the "customer" Rush off in a hurry.

"Hey, well that worked out well, thanks." lohkie chuckled as he flipped the Canis a shinning yellow coin, purpsefully ignoring the word kid this time. "Really, you got me more than I was expecting for that little adventure. We should team up, could probably do well." Lohkie grinned and becan to rummage around in the bags of garbage next to where he was leaning on the wall. He was continted the little side job he had picked up had turned out well, He had made a little extra coin, had an adventure. And, in general, caused enough of a comotion to last a while.

"By the way, they name's Lohkie. And, I would love to hear all about why such a...girl.. is here in the outer limits."

With a small cry of triumph Lohkie pulled out of hiding a bottle of amber liquid, still sealed and slightly stained, that looked exactly like the bottle they had just "sold" to the lepus. Lohkie had hiden it there seconds before the canis had showed up, and it was a stroke of luck she had. Her confusion easily covered up the switch he had made and the lepus was more worried about the girl than he was about the drink. He hadn't even checked it first. Lohkie wished he could see his face when the lepus found out that the 50 year old port he was about to enjoy was really just some brown water with some thickener.

"of course a story needs a drink, and I'd be happy to share." Lohkie smiled.

She caught the coin in one paw, and snatched it back to herself. It didn't even make back what she'd had to pay to save her skin in the bar.
Lilith creased her brows in irritation, but the mention of a drink softened her heart somewhat.

"Team up, huh? And risk my neck again?" She laughed a little, to show she was joking, though her heart rate was far higher than she would have preferred.

She cocked her head and weighed him up.

"Lohkie hmm? I'm Lilith. And there's not too much to tell, honestly. But I will take you up on that drink."

She walked a little in front of him Then curled her lip up in disgust. She doubted there was a decent board of wood in this hovel, let alone a drinking establishment. She spun round gently, and stepped back to Lohkie. She wrapped her arms round his neck and kissed him on the cheek, whispering into his ear;

"Thank you for helping me earn a little, but ... maybe you should decide where we go?"

She let go, and gestured at the dinginess of their surroundings. Surely he didn't expect her to drink in a garbage-filled alley. Right?

"Nice to meet you lilith." Lohkie blushed, To say that he had little experience with women would be an understatement. To even recieve a kiss on the cheek was more than he'd experienced in... well, a while. And from such a pretty Canis as well, That would be the highlight of his life for a while.

Lohkie coughed, embarased and glanced around, trying not to meet Lilith's eyes. He had been planning on finding a nice hole in the wall to settle down to drink in, but maybe she deserved a little better? He had made her evening a bit... interesting. After a second lohkie's ears perked up, he knew just the place.

"I would be happy to." Lohkie grinned "but only if you can keep up."

Lohkie took a couple steps back, turned, and dashed to the other end of the ally before looking back. "You comming?" he called back before disappeareing around the corner.

he ran, but he always made sure that Lilith could see which way he had turned. sometimes waiting just around a corner to make sure she was comming. He was having fun, but he also felt a little obligated to let lilith have some as well.

"Nice to meet you too. It's certainly been ... interesting."
Lilith smiled, though gently, at Lohkie's blushes. She almost regretted coming on so strongly to have put her new accomplice ill-at-ease, but she could tell from his face he had enjoyed her attentions somewhat. Whilst he was surreptiously avoiding her eyes, she scanned his face thouroughly - it had been quite a while since she'd had such a strong effect on another Daruma.

"Keep up?" Lilith was puzzled, but only momentarily, as the Tigris streaked away from her, not much more than a dark blur before pausing.

"Of course I am!" Lilith replied, finally breaking out into a wide, happy grin. She threw her head back and laughed loudly, for the first time in a long while, and fled after him as fast as she could.

He was quick, but Lilith was in perfect shape, and though not much of a fighter had a body that replied to her will almost instantaneously. She caught glimpses of the dark Tigris as they barreled round corners, and could feel herself gaining slightly on his surprise lead.

Lohkie rounded a corner and stopped suddenly, turning around to wait for Lilith. They were almost there, only a short distance to go, only that distance was up. He needed something to tie the port to him with so began to rummage through the trash on the side of the alley. eventually comming up with a string he was able to tie around the neck of the bottle, and then around his waist. He made sure to tie it so the bottle was secure on his back. This whole trip would be worthless if the bottle dropped.

As lilith rounded the corner Lohkie smiled "Almost there." He said pointing upwards than scampered to the wall.

Going slower than he normally would Lohkie picked out the hand and foot holds as he climber higher. He wanted to make sure lilith knew where to put her hands and feet. Otherwise it would be a long fall down.

About half way up lohkie steeled himself, he always hated this part, even though it was a little fun. Atleast the walls of the alley we close together, otherwise this would be impossible. With a tensing of his muscles lohkie pushed off from the wall. leaping backwards across the gap, twisting in mid air, and landing on a ledge, no more than a foot wide on the opposite wall. He would wait here, When he first started doing this baph had always had to help him with that too.

After catching his breath lohkie looked down at Lilith. "Well, ya comming up or what? Climbs a bit tough, but the views to die for." He grinned to himself, "Of course, If you want you can just wait down there and I'll have all port to myself.

Lilith looked incredulously at the ledge, too far above her head for her liking. It wasn't as if her life was safe, but such immediate danger made her blanch a little. She did find it very difficult to refuse a challenge, however, and bit her lip as she stared at the vertical ascent before her.

"Are you crazy?! I'm not letting you drink my ill-gotten gains!"
She laughed, and leapt up at the wall, neatly catching the first few hand and footholds, as she remembered them from Lohkie's ascent. Despite this graceful beginning, she had trouble hauling herself up. Upper body strength is not something a refined lady particularly goes in for, and Lilith was the most refined of ladies. She could feel the tension in her arms as almost unbearable, and every time she missed a hold she felt frightened, and had to pause. So, slowly and laboriously, Lilith made her way to the ledge.

After reaching the edge, she turned to look him square in the eye.

"I'm not going to hang here all day."

Clearly the difficult climb had not improved her disposition.

From above Lohkie kept an eye on lilith. She climbed well, if just a bit slow. When Lilith finally gained the ledge Lohkie smiled at her. "Almost there lilith, hope you're not tiring out on me." he pointed upwards once again to the edge of the roof, which was about 20 feet above their heads.

Lohkie gripped the wall once again and began the short climb upwards. Testing each handhold he could feel the aged wall rough bricks under his fingers. Some of the handholds had become weak since he last came here, He was very carefull to avoid them.

with a last heave lohkie pulled himself up and over the lip of the roof. A long time ago the roof had fallen in on the far side of the building. It looked like the edges had widened as well, but it still appeared safe over on their side. Looking upward lohkie gazed at the reason they had come here. The stars twinkled high up in the sky, this roof was one of the few places you could see them from the outerlimits.

Lohkie smiled and rushed back to the edge, peering over at lilith. "well, ya comming or do I have to ocme down and carry you up?" he grinned down at her.

"Of course I'm not tired!" Lilith panted, indignant and exhausted. She sighed inwardly looking at the distance left to travel, though made sure not to show her displeasure.

She breathed deeply, and with one last burst of energy flicked up the wall like a snake, matching Lohkie's handholds expertly. She noted that some which looked like an easier climb were worn and decayed, and surmised Lohkie was smarter than he looked to be able to read the wall so well.

When she finally pulled herself onto the top of the building, she was momentarily stunned. A vast swathe of the universe, crisp as you like, twinkled coldly above her. The beauty of the place, especially considering the dives down below, was astounding.

She smiled back at Lohkie, all anger forgotten in the wake of such stark beauty.
