Alright i'm getting a p-bass soon, and SX presicison bass to be exact. So i've been thinking on how to pimp it out. pickups, paintjobs, etc. Anything would be helpful. GO WILD.

This is the pbass

P.s. its my first bass, i'm quitting guitar, even though i've had a very successful 3 years.

why dont you learn to accually play before you let your head swell with all these 'pimp' jobs you're thinking about...
i was stuck with a shitty purple washburn for ever before i went out and spent a load of cash on my yamaha.

and by quitting guitar, do you mean just like, quitting lessons or compleatly quitting playing the instrument.
because...that would be terrible.

Jesus christ

I've understood music notation, scales, chords, at 200 bpm neutral Yeah i've taken lessons, but i stopped a year ago. Yeah I'm quitting the instrument.

I don't think my head is swelling. Whats the harm of having a attractive bass while learning how to play? Plus i've been playing for 3 months on bass. (Well, if you count that i would borrow my friends basses for long periods of time)

I just want an attractive bass/kick a** bass alright? No need to get angry. neutral Thats why i mentioned I want good pickups for tone aswell.

what your bass needs is chromo spinny wheels and neon lights. smile

(all kidding aside.. you would have to be specific as to what kind of sound your after, what type of style of music (if any) you are going planning on playing, favorite color if that's a factor, examples of designs you think are kool, etc.) When it comes down to customization of anything, its usually best for that customization to show the personality of the owner..

Well i do like the colour red and the shade black. I'm aiming for a Death From Above 1979 sound.

If i were to 'pimp out' any thing, it would be the same thing i do to my comp...puting a plexy class window in it and lots of LEDs razz

About quiteing guitar...why? I play guitar and bass...its like my ying and yang..How could it hurt bye you keep playing it? If any thing it opens your musicel horizon.

Guitar dosen't provide me with that sound i want. Sort of like a really heavy sound. Too hard to describe.

Okay.. after downloading and listening to a couple of songs from Death from above 1979, id have to say your best bet is to either get a Nordstrand 4 String MM4.3 Pickup to give you the punchy/growly/fat sound or just go with a bass that has a dual coil soap bar pickup with a 3-way switch. (I think the Ibanez GAXB150 has one.. not totally sure on that.. so dont quote me on that one)... and you may have to find either a Chunk Systems Fuzz Bass FZ002 or the BOSS Blues Driver BD-2 (only if you keep the tone knob below 12 o'clock to prevent too much of a harsh sound) or on the safer side, instead of the BOSS Blues Driver, you can always go with the BOSS Bass Overdrive ODB-3 (my favorite).. though you will have to fiddle with the settings more to get that fuzzy deep sound your after.

As far as color and designs, you may have to ask around your local music stores to see if you can get someone to paint it up for you. Once I was going to go ask an auto paint and body shop to completely design my bass (for laugh value really) .. but decided against the idea when my funds depleted.

I think that's about it. But yes, im a guitarist as well as bassist as well. Knowing how to play guitar can help when it comes to music composition. We all here crave the deep rich sounds of the bass.. its why we proudly proclaim ourselves to be bass players.. but losing an instrument is always sad thing. smile

Would a DS-1 do the job?

Also can you recommend me some guitars that you described in left handed?

I had P bass,

I thought I loved it but after I got my Peavey fretless and Millennium I find its rare I play it.

I say change your tone and volume nob's to dice.

And change the tunning pegs to dollar bill signs, and make that s**t sparkle.

Like Whoa.

The Boss DS-1 Distortion can work as long as its either one of the pedals modified prior to december 2004 or one of the newer pedals labeled "Boss DS-1 Bass Distortion" for the best results.

As far as left-handed basses with dual coil soap bar pickups, I can't think of any definites off the top of my head, but if I can get some time later on, i'll check into it for you.
