"Left, down, up, and right, over the moon thrice this night..."
The contented murmur slipped past her bloodied muzzle, her sanguine gaze fixed upward to fasten itself upon the slivered crescent of the moon. Though feeble and practically insubstantial, it was still there. Her friends swirled about the skies in delight--streaming, smoky wisps that danced among the stars and strove to brush against the moon. She was happy to see them so blissful, standing alone in the grassy fields with her neck craned as far as it could. To anyone passing by, she was a strange sight indeed; bloodied, babbling, and alone.
"Oh, you almost touched it that time." She encouraged with a small grin, completely forgetting her role as the chanter in their little game. Yes, she was supposed to be muttering the lyrics for them so they could keep tempo, wasn't she? "Oh, but you've done just fine without me so far." Kusabi protested as some of the shades paused to stare at her accusingly, giving her head a shake. "Dreadful, wicked things." Undeniably fond of her companions, the crimson-spattered mare idly twisted her head to gaze back to the forests from which she'd wandered, distracted by her own roving thoughts.
The water nymphs would be quite offended that she hadn't come to pay tribute to them today. They were vain creatures, but provided her with many entertaining stories to listen to. Oh... And that stallion who'd taken it upon himself to satisfy their demands as well. "Bedlam." She murmured the name with a smile, her tail flicking faintly with pride. Yes, she was so very touched that he'd come to listen to the spirits with her. They liked him, and she was obligated to do the same.
A harsh chattering caught her ear, and the mare's ears flicked sluggishly in surprise. "Oh, now then, don't make such a ruckus..." She chuckled under her breath before she raised her voice and lifted her gaze to the night sky once more.
"Left, down, up, right..."
