Hazeline glanced at her watch. There was still a couple of hours left before they were expected to be home and a couple of hours less of nagging on moral issue such as ‘It is wrong to tamper with Souls’ and ‘Science has no right to play with lives’ could do wonders to one’s ear and one’s conscience.
Turning right into a quiet looking park with picturesque rocks littering a serene looking pond, Hazeline parked her car and turned to observe her backseat passengers. Joshua, her brother, was looking silently at her as though he too could read her thoughts and was agreeing wholeheartedly to her plan of sidetracking for a moment. The other passenger however, was looking at Hazeline’s direction with a rather questioning look on his face.
Hazeline smiled at the white raevan and received a cold stare in return. It was apparent that the raevan was still sore about being pushed from the Lab and dumped into Hazeline’s charge.
“Hazeline,”
Hazeline blinked as she eyed the white raevan. He had spoken and that was good. Perhaps she shouldn’t be too hasty with Xiu. He was only a day old after all…
“Yes Xiu?”
The white raevan blinked and looked about before returning his gaze onto the young woman with a look that clearly meant ‘Where are we?’
"Home?"
“No Xiu, we are just stopping for a rest in this lovely park,” said Hazeline as she got out of the car and Joshua did the same. Motioning to Xiu to do likewise, Hazeline smiled “Fresh air is good for you, you know.”

The park was a lovely place for rest and relaxation. Not only had Hazeline thought of this but a particular trio did too. As the sun shone brightly in the sky, Lillian sat under one of the many trees in the park. She was seated on a white and red quilt with an array of books and a pick-nick basket at her side. Lil's eyes were directed to the book that sat in her lap, her eyes soaking up the words like a sponge. Laying fast asleep at her side was the family dog, Marmaduke. The dog was snoring lightly as he dreamed.
While Lillian sat and enjoyed some quiet time with her book, the two boys of the family were off exploring.
"Here it comes, Reks!" Tyson shouted before tossing a frisbee at the large raevan.
Yet their game wasn't going to go as planned. When he tossed the frisbee Tyson had been expecting the great raevan to hop up and catch it with his great arms. He believed that the powerful youth would then whip it back at him and he'd have to pull off some amazing stunt to catch it. Of course when Tyson expected something to happen it never did, least not perfectly.
The lad hadn't noticed as he whipped the frisbee towards Iorek that the raevan wasn't paying anymore attention to their game. They had played it for a good half hour now and after he threw it too far once again it had taken Tyson a few minutes to go and retrieve it. Those minutes Iorek had occupied by picking a few white flowers from a patch on the ground. He was still at it when the youth tossed the whirling red plastic and it flew over his head, hurtling towards a few people as they exited the car.
"IOREK!! THE FRISBEE!" Tyson shouted as he saw it spinning towards Hazeline and her party.
The mighty raevan lifted up his head and turned in the direction the frisbee was aiming towards. Yet before he could float two feet towards them the red frisbee already hit the car.

“Woah!” yelped Joshua as the frisbee came into contact with the car with a rather loud thud. “What was that?” “A-A frisbee I think,” said Hazeline who, although shocked, had not yelled out in fright like her brother did. Stepping over to the side where the car was hit, Hazeline picked up the plastic disc and turned to the direction where it had came from … and droppped the frisbee. “A-Another raevan…,” mumured the young woman as she stared at the stony looking figure that was approaching; along with a young lad by its side.
“Wow…it looks…strong… ,” said Joshua, voicing out Hazeline’s thought.
Xiu meanwhile was eyeing the approaching figures as well but with apprehension and with the safety of the car between them. The loud thud made by the frisbee colliding with the car previously had troubled the white frei greatly and the raevan gave its wings a nervous flick. The world outside the lab was one that he did not understand and what Xiu could not understand, Xiu was inclined to regard it as a possible threat. The white raevan longed to return to the reassuring presence of the Sigel Lazarus and to the safety of the lab. Out here Xiu was…lost.
“Let’s go greet them,” said Hazeline recovering from her shock of seeing another raevan within so short a time span. Picking up the fallen frisbee, Hazeline turned to Xiu, positive that the raevan would be more than delighted in meeting another of his kind. Her notions about Xiu being excited however, was quickly dispelled when she saw the look on Xiu’s face. It was similar to the one he had given her when Lazarus had tried to introduce them; which subsequently led to a rather difficult pickup.
“Xiu, let’s go greet them alright?” Hazeline said trying to coax the white frei out of shyness. “I’m sure they nice people,”
Xiu turned to eye Hazeline, the woman who had named him and taken him away. Feelings of confusion, anger and fear were clearly visible on the white frei’s features and it was obvious that the raevan was torn between the relative safety that the car seemed to offer it and the gentle encouragement of Hazeline. Xiu gave the approaching raevan another glance as though to measure his chances against it. The stony raevan looked strong and …dangerous?
Dangerous
Something clicked in the white frei’s mind. The feeling that he should or rather…must not allow danger to happen seemed to push the white frei out of his hesistancy and towards his guardian’s side.
