Benita considered herself a graceful and strong flier but today was proving her wrong. The alpha helix was struggling against the powerful winds of a storm, wings beating hard to fight against the air current that was pushing her backwards.
The biting chill of the cold air was numbing her nose, ears, paws, and wings. She was tiring quickly but every time she tried turning in the direction of the wind it would change again and blow her about in all directions.
She wanted to land but strong updrafts kept pushing her higher, closer to the thick black storm clouds. A flash of lightning streaked through the sky, she worried against being struck by one of the lightning bolts. She tried howling for help but thunder kept blocking out her calls with it's booming sound, and who could reach her anyway?
Trembling from the exhaustion of flapping her wings she tried stiffening her shoulder muscles to keep her wings straight and extended, her efforts only ended up with her being flipped around topsy turby.
She finally spun out of control and willingly relaxed her dragon-like appendages, falling out of the sky. At first she had planned to fall below most of the wind and then open her wings to save herself but then she realized she couldn't move her wings, they were too numb from the cold! They just wiggled feebly, flopping like fish out of water, useless.
She howled, looking at the ground in terror while she plummeted toward it. She couldn't believe that she was about to die this way, all her dreams never met.

http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk85/TheAlphaHelix/Certs/East/BloodRain.jpgBloodRain's feathers were damp as he went in a fast run past all the bamboo. He left a light feather trail of feathers only a few. He was raising for the howl. He lifted himself up off the ground and glided until he saw a plummiting mix of colors.
He was about the size of the alpha big like her and his wings were the same. He flew a bit higher then her and went down a bit more as he went to the blur of color. He had a thing to hep others that were falling.
Heroicly he dove in unseen by anyone because of how black he was and his white scarf stuck to his fur as he bit her scruff and kept balance gracefully. All of it was all to quick.

Benita closed her eyes waiting to hit the ground when there was a great pressure on her neck and she found herself scuffed like a pup. She could hear the flapping of wings as she instinctively tucked her feet close to her body and relaxed. "I don't know who you are, but thank you." She spoke softly, calming herself slowly after the frightful experience. Now she knew how wingless helixes felt when they fell. She had never felt a fear of heights or of falling because she could always fly before.
She tucked her numb wings up close her body, trying to warm them with her fur. She could see bamboo forests below them, and a shrine temple here and there, a few abandoned by humans and left to the forest. If he ahd saved her from death she trusted him enough to let him land where he wanted. He didn't mean her any harm.

BloodRain chuckled as he lowered her more and more. Then he set her down near the black feathers that led to his flight. " I am BloodRain are you okay?" Heasked lightly. He could tell she was cold an unhappy. He covered himself with his wings expecting her to do the same.

Just as he did Benita used her wings to shield herself from the rain like an umbrella. She studied her savior, he was younger than herself, black in color with red stripes and red eyes. He wore bloodied clothing. His wings, unlike hers were thicker with fur. She walked under a tree. "My name is Benita, may I know your name?" She asked. She wanted to know the one she should be grateful toward.
