This thread is dedicated to the life lessons you've learned, be it through observation or personal experience.
To give you an idea of what I mean, ask yourself what lessons you know that you would pass on to your children later on.

It'll create more activity and posts if you don't make huge lists all in one post. wink
Think about it, let it stew. No rush. :3

I'll kick it off.

If there's one thing I learned from being part of a huge family of animal owners, it's that you should never get pets for children, especially as a holiday thing. Trust me, that's a road you don't wanna go down.
It's much better if you get the pet for yourself, even if you have a kid around, too. Never make it a child's responsibility to care for an animal.

Am I weird if I would tell my kids to get used to things dying?

On a lighter note... I guess one of my lessons would be to always be prepared for life, and always have multiple plan B's.

In fact, career-wise, I was told something that I thought was rather wise by some chick from Skills Canada. When it comes to careers, it's always best to never have a plan A, but have multiple Plan B's. That way, you're willing to explore everything fully.

Hmm... I'd have to refer to that scrap between Chang and I... That wasn't really a scrap, just a bitchfest.

I guess another would be when I got into a fight with a gangsta and he pulled a knife on me. Lesson: DISARM the ******** before you fight him.

And for the comical lesson, never put a fork in the electric pop-up toaster.

Umm... Two better lessons: Carry at least a small pocket knife or car/house/whatever key if you're alone. That one would go more for any female that a male, but it can apply to guys as well.

And maybe a better lesson is don't get into the fight?

Well, said lesson to stop fight would be impossible as the dumbass was as hyper as ********, he was egged on by friends, and he clocked me in the jaw for no apparent reason, calling my mother an alcoholic. Doesn't matter though, his head made an appointment with my guitar. He won't bother me again.

I GOT ANOTHER ONE!

Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever run in a straight line away from a cougar (two legged variety) or a deer. BIG mistake.

Actually, never run in a straight line away from anything. Or up a tree, especially if it is a bear you're running from.

The lesson I learned, I learned recently:
If you think something's wrong, INVESTIGATE
don't let your friends fool you into thinking they're alright
and NEVER leave a druggie to themselves to quit

Lesson for bear: Have someone else with you, you just need to outrun said person. Or, if your're like me, direct attention to yourself and have the bear chase you to buy your friend an opening. In which case, I'd say that that was the fastest I've ever run in my life.

Or, you lie your a** down and play dead. Sure, the bear may investigate, possibly killing you, but it's your best bet to play dead, as they won't smell and blood (Hopefully, unless your cut), and will most likely leave you be. Odds are, they might slap you are a time or two, but it'll be better than running like an idiot and ensuring your death.

Hey! Idiotic, yes, stupid, yes. DANGEROUS? No s**t, sherlock, but damn; I must've outran the fastest jock at school! Luckily, I was able to distract it with a dead salmon I found in the creek, spawning season. I'm not sure if he ate it, but that smelly fish sure got his attention.

Oooh, I forgot ALL about this thread! =D
Glad to see people posted.

And yes, Alanna, never leave it to someone to take care of their own addictions. Scary stuff, there.

AS SAID ON TV: If you are fit or strong, take on the bear. xD
Basicly yell alot and look tall, you may live if it's not mating season.

Anyways, my lesson is :
1) to believe karma
2) anything that happens to you, the opposite will occur later.

A little more into the second one, I see the pattern that as you get a good event to happen, something bad will occur in the future as if it's trying to even things out. (same goes as vice-versa)

Okay... People around me have died for five years straight, I'd like to see something look up... No offense, of course.
