The City of Elphame is possibly the largest of the Otherworld. Once one crosses over through the gate at the Vale of the Fairies, you'll find yourself just outside the gate of this crown jewel of the Green Isles.
The city seems rather divided between the Seelie and Unseelie folk. Even the city castle seems split, in a way that might look like the distinctive butterfly wingpattern if viewed from above - the north and west towers fly the banner of the Unseelie Court, and the south and east towers fly the banner of the Seelie Court.
The center of the castle is where the two sides meet. The main entrance seems to be in the southeast, where tall stairs have been constructed - apparently, the center of the castle is elevated. In the northwest there is a fifth tower, raised above the rest. This is the tower of the Archfae Council, which only Archfae and those granted special permission may enter.
Just as there are Archangels in Heaven and Archdemons in Hell, so are there Archfae in Elphame. They are the highest, most powerful and most respected members of the Fae, though there are higher powers in the Otherworld which they will answer to.
Though the traditional castle remains the heart of the city, and some of the busiest parts of the city are within the old city walls, the city has grown several times, adding new walled enclosures with wards against malicious entities which roam the Otherworld.
