His paws were hitting the ground hard as his little heart beat, as fast as the blood could pump. He had to keep running. He had to be free. Every other minute or so his head would turn back to make sure Lenwae was still behind him. Zodiac was her sworn guardian. No harm would ever become her with his watch. It was something he'd promise his life on. That was if he and his friend were actually going to live. The odds were against them at the moment.
They were two fugitive's. Not for any crimes known to the good dogs of the land. But to those who still followed Hogan's orders. Dead or not. These dogs saw Hogan as a Martyr. Murdered in the prime of his life by the evil Weed. And by this saw fit to punish dogs wild, stray, or pet any way they saw fit. According to them all the land belonged to them to Hogan. And under these rules were the reason that Zo and his friend had been forced to run.
His father had been a Solider of Ohu. Leading a small pack on recognizance to inspect these 'Dogs of Hogan'. Only problem for him was that he fell in love with a beautiful dog named Rosie and caused her to be full with child. Knowing this would spell her death he tried to hide her; but unfortunately was unable to. And in the process she died a gruesome death leaving her child to be an 'orphan' per say. The leader of the 'Dogs of Hogan' adopted him to train him to be a killer. One day planning to send him to kill his own father in his own sick twisted fantasy. But as Zodiac grew he befriended the leader’s daughter. Who eventually lead him to the truth about his parents and how his mother was slain.
With rage in his heart he and his friend ran from the pack to live happily with the Soldiers of Ohu. His father welcomed him and Len with open paws glad that at least his son had made it out alive. One day he had planned to take him to Ohu to meet Weed himself. But that would never come to be. As Lenwae's father had tracked the pair down and the moment they saw the dogs of Ohu; killed them all without much quarrel. The leader then approached his father a smirk over his twisted maw.
'You thought your brats could escape me?' He chuckled at them with an evil laugh. 'Nobody escapes Hogan's dogs. Nobody is above Hogan’s law!'
He then snarled and lunged forth at the three ripping into Zodiac's father. Then grabbing Zodiac by the scruff ruthlessly dragged him and his own daughter back to the pack. The pair was in need of punishment for defying Hogan. Perhaps he would kill them. Perhaps he wouldn't but for now he's let his toys live. They might serve some purpose later. He used the key phase 'might' as he spoke of them. Tonight though the pair would rest. Only for tonight as tomorrow would bring them to become runners.
As they awoke. Lenwae's father gave them a very peculiar task, to bury to dead. Zodiac could only infer that it was his father. But what they found surprised them. It had been Lenwae's mother. The two walked away sick. But Lenwae had been so enraged by the thought of her OWN father slaying his mate just pushed her over the edge. She lunged for any ounce of flesh she could obtain- but in her haste her father caught her neck in his mouth and tossed her into a wall like a rag doll. Zodiac knew not to fight even though he was boiling on the inside. He had to nurse his friend back to health he HAD to become her guardian, and as he dragged her body away to safety swore on his life that no harm would ever come to her. And as the days passed and she grew better- he dug his way to safety from under there den until he could fit them both threw. And on a lucky day where the pack was out hunting he took the opportunity to get them both to safety.
All they had to do now was to keep running. Keep searching for Soldiers of Ohu. And keep praying the spies wouldn't get to them first.

Lenwae had been young and impressionable, at first. She had taken everything her father told her in stride, even when he brought that young pup, Zodiac, back from one of his hunts, telling her that he would be her charge as they trained. At first she was uncertain and jealous of the pup, for she knew that her father would have rather had a male instead of her. That just made her work harder. If she hadn't, she might never have used that persuasion her father had taught her to find out about Zodiac's mother. By that time they had become more or less friends and it pained her to tell him what she had learned. He asked her to come away with him, to help him find his father and leave their life in her father's pack. At first she hadn't wanted to, but was going to allow Zodiac to just leave, but then her father hit her. She had done something he disapproved of, but he had never hit her before. So they left, and were recaptured, and escaped again, this time running until they couldn't anymore, and the running some more. There was nothing left for them there anyways. Plus Lenwae knew her father wouldn't just let them go.
So there she was, running full out less than a pace behind Zo, her only friend and the only creature in this world that she trusted. Just as he watched her back, she'd watch his. Together 'til the end, they'd be. "Tired?" she huffed as best she could between breaths. It had been a while since he had last asked to stop. She wasn't one to much be bothered by large amounts of running, but even now she was beginning to wane.

The pup nodded at her. His paces were beginning to seam more like a fast walk then a run anymore. It was as if his paws literately had turned to bricks. And wasn't getting better with each stride he took. "I'm exhausted...." He gasped trying to push his paws a bit further. If they stopped they would be dead.
Again his paws slammed onto the earth. But this time one of his worn paws had open up into a good sized gash and he finally slowed to a halt. More the less collapsing where he was. The pain was enormous and his eyes welled up with salty tears that he had to force back. "You...should...keep...running..." He told his friend fearing for her life if she stayed back for him. "I'll catch up too...you...after...I rest some..."
He then threw his heavy panting started to lick his paw trying so desperately to stop the blood from pouring out.

Life as a Soldier of Ohu was never boring per say, but at times it could be slow. Though while Soldiers job was to protect the sacred Ohu there were other task that a soldier would be asked to do. Promoting the views of Ohu was as important as any other of the duties as well as gathering information. It was important to know what other packs are doing, specially those that may harbor ill will towards Ohu.
Montezuma was not what one would expect as a shoulder of Ohu, but he was one never the less. Montezuma is 12in tall and weighs 7 pounds, he traveled to Japan via ship from Mexico. He is proud of his homeland and his heritage though perhaps not of his past. Montezuman was a pet and like many of his kind his human liked to dress him in silly little outfits. Though he very much loved his human one day came when he could stand it no longer. He ran costume and all! Which the cape has come in handy all to often during the cold winters of Japan. Though skipping to the future, Montezuma had volunteered to go for an information gathering trip. Things had been slow in Ohu and his paws itched for adventure.
It was about a week into his trip that he had found a place to camp in the country side. It was a good place to gather information, dogs tended to gather here for some reason. He had chosen a well hidden spot covered by thrush bushes that only had enough room for him or a pup to get through. Once in side though it was well covered from the elements and he lined it with his cape and mask to make it soft and warm.
Monte decided to take one last walk before he retired for the night. It had been a week already he needed to gather information and report back before they began to worry back home. Sometimes they forgot he wasn't a pup, but he took it all in stride. His large ears twitched as he took in the sounds of the area. His small paws making not a sound in the lush grass of the country side hills. A scent reached his nose that made him twinge slightly. Blood? Fresh kill? No....it was dog blood! Where there was dog blood there was no good!
Monte followed the scent with hast hoping to help or put a stop to a useless fight. He soon came upon two pups, they seemed panicked and tired. What was wrong? Without much thought Monte's paws carried him steadily towards the two pups.
"Are you two alright?!" Montezuma asked with a soft voice.

Lenwae stopped at Zo's side, for without him she was alone and she didn't want to be alone in this hard world. "I won't leave y-" she began, but the sound of another dog had her turning on her heel. It was a small, rat-like dog, no bigger than herself or Zo. She couldn't tell if it was a puppy like them or just a really small-a** dog. Either way, she didn't trust it and immediately formed an aggressive, fighting stance, her teeth bared in a growl. "Get back! What do you want?" she barked at him in the lowest possible volume she could manage while still looking as fierce as she possibly could. Which, mind, wasn't much, considering she was tired and travel-battered and was beginning to get a splitting headache. She'd never had a headache before, but since that day when she attack her- Mao, she'd gotten them several times. Perhaps something had been jarred loose.

Zodiac quirked his head upward from the ground to look at the new visitor that had approached them. Though he didn't see the dog as a major threat he really didn't trust him either. He couldn't blame Lenwae for her harsh reaction to him either, considering all they had been threw. He then made a small feeble attempt and pushed himself off the ground, hobbling next to the other Kai Ken to get a better look at the dog in costume.
Though the blood still poured from his paws he could still pick up something strange about the other dog. He quirked his nose curiously and moved forward a step or two tending to the foot that was still bleeding. He smelled of the dogs his father did- Odd. This though still didn't clear his head if the other was Okie. He'd have to earn the red dog's trust before he would even consider listening to a word he said. Even if it was logical. Zodiac loved Len too much to let any harm befall her even if it was from a rat. Everyone could be a spy. The other dog just might have been smart enough to mask his scent before revealing himself to the pair.
He then lowered his voice and turned his head towards his friend, so in case the other dog was watching he wouldn't be able to read lips. "I don't trust him either...but now that he's spotted us we can't risk letting him out of our sight." He then in great pain settled himself on the ground again.
